Rating: Summary: SLAYER!!! Review: What goes through your mind when you're listening to Slayer? "GRRRRRRR AHHHHHHHH!!!" is how a fan from the DVD put it. I couldn't have said it better myself. That is the feeling I got through the entirety of War at the Warfield. I can tell you right now that this review will not do it any justice, but I shall try my best. At first, I was worried that the audio on this DVD might not be so good after the first couple minutes of introduction. Then Slayer actually started pounding out "Disciple" from the God Hates Us All album (Which came out 9-11-01.. Coincidence? Perhaps.). The audio turned out to be astounding, which was a relief because when I saw them live Tom's vocals could hardly be heard. The video angles and editing were nothing short of impressive either. After "Disciple" Tom gave G. W. Bush a run for his money and yells out "And now, time for the State of the Union Address!" and broke into "War Ensemble". Tom, Jeff, Kerry, and Paul are all simply amazing on this DVD. Chills began running down my spine when Paul began the "THUMP THUMP THUMP" of "Raining Blood". Easily the closest you can come to feeling the pure energy of being at a Slayer concert. My walls probably now have cracks in them do to the deafening sound of "SLAYER! SLAYER! SLAYER!" Slayer, notoriously known for having some of the craziest fans in the world, included on the DVD a classic documentary entitled "Fans Rule". There's many hilarious and heartfelt fan interviews as well as in-depth interviews with the band themselves. Also include are interviews with Les Claypool, Kirk Hammet, and Scott Ian. On one account Jeff talks about how a Slayer fan once fell from a balcony at their concert and landed through the stage. As Jeff was thinking the fan just died, the crazy [guy]popped his head up from beneath the stage and continued headbanging. After watching this DVD all I wanted to do was yell "SLAYER!!!" at the top of my lungs for as long as I could, ...I'll just give the DVD a 10 out of 10.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the long overdue wait Review: After months and months of delays (original release date was in Feb.), War at the Warfield finally got released and boy was it worth the wait. I think they hit the nail on every song they played and it was a great song selection (a lil bit from each release). Much like Metallica, they don't move that much but there is such craftsmanship with their instruments that your just in a gaze of watching that. I would've liked one more song from Diabolus (would've prefered Perversions of Pain or Bitter Peace), but i'm not greedy and I certainly won't complain. The camera work is excellent and doesn't shift too much to dizzy the watcher (just watch Korn's Live DVD though I doubt many Slayer fans listen to Korn). I think I speak for everyone when I say that i'm stoked that the master of drums Dave Lombardo is back in the lineup, but this is kind of a good farewell to Paul Bosteph who filled a big spot to the best of his capabilites. This is well worth any Slayer fan's money or maybe someone who just wants to get introduced to Slayer.
Rating: Summary: Be Prepared For War!!!!!!!!! Review: Definitely one the best concert DVD's of the year. Includes 19 songs in 1 intense live show, the "Bloodline" music video supposedly banned from TV, a photo gallery from their 2001 tour, and a documentary interviewing Tom, Kerry, and Jeff from Slayer, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Kirk Hammett from Metallica, and some of the most insane Slayer fans ever! If you've ever experienced one of their shows, or seen footage somewhere, then you know how brutal a Slayer concert can be. If you have not, then experience for your self right here on this DVD!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: It's SLAYER, it's excellent Review: I watched Warfield on the post production big screen during the final editing at Interlock studios when we were finishing up vocals for the new LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH CD. It is simply excellent. Exactly what any hardcore SLAYER fan like me would expect. It's even more intense than Live Intrusion and the fan comments on the b reel are sometimes astonishing and always very cool. Numerous angles and some of the best editing I've ever seen, because TBJ (editor) loves SLAYER as much as anybody. More than anything, this video, like any live SLAYER show reminds you that when it's SLAYER you expect more and you get it at The Warfield. This DVD will be a staple on our tour bus this year.
Rating: Summary: speed metal concerts are cool Review: i have been to many slayer concets but this one was definitly one of the best. If it ever comes out it should be good. If they fillmed any of the whole damn show this thing should be great. may slayer live on and buy this dvd because this is the closest thing most of you will probably ever get to seeing a good quality slayer show outside of the concert hall.
Rating: Summary: SLAYER!!!!! Review: I had to post some information on here, to spread the word since no one else has. First off it has Paul Bostaph drumming, even though Dave Lombardo is supposed to be coming back for the next album. What can you say about this, extras with the fans, a music video, and you get to see the fans going [crazy] Finally a DVD of Slayer with the high quality audio (5.1 Surround Sound)and the visual depiction of the agressive live show that Slayer brings. The songs are, for the most part, the standard setlist with new additions from the GHUA album that I have seen at shows in the past. This is way better in DVD format than the "Live Intrusion" video. This includes a 50 minute documentary "about the fans," and the "banned" video for 'Blood Line'. The Set List: 1. Disciple 2. War Ensemble 3. Stain of Mind 4. New Faith 5. Postmortem 6. Raining Blood 7. Hell Awaits 8. Here Comes the Pain 9. Die by the Sword 10. Dittohead 11. Bloodline 12. God Send Death 13. Dead Skin Mask 14. Seasons in the Abyss 15. Captor of Sin 16. Mandatory Suicide 17. Chemical Warfare 18. South of Heaven 19. Angel of Death In case you don't know: Tom Araya - Vocals/bass Kerry King - Guitar Jeff Hanneman - Guitar Paul Bostaph -Drums (On this DVD) Dave Lombardo - Drums (On their next album)
Rating: Summary: It was a great show Review: I know I was there for this one. Of course I can't speak to the quality of the DVD as it's not yet available, so only 3 stars. Would like to see myself on dvd in the pit. Tom Araya was quite nostalgic that night (Pearl Harbor day 2001)about the shows the had played in San Francisco in the early 80's. There was a kind of feel good aura in the air (NOT typical of Slayer, but it was still great). Slayer came back a few months later and played the Warfield again with Dave Lombardo on drums, but at this show Paul Bostaph was still with them. He left because of an arthritic hand (I think, I remember meeting Paul in the late 80's when he was with Forbidden, coolest guy on Earth). Maybe the delay in release will allow them a chance to add some cool stuff, like some live early footage or interviews, or pictures of people getting tortured or something.
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS DVD! Review: This is Slayer at their best. No extras, no glits, no glamour. This is A greta DVD in that the audio is awesome, the way it should be. Paul Bostaph is the drummer. BUY THIS DVD
Rating: Summary: Slaytanic Live Insanity!!! Review: I have seen SLAYER 4 times in concert, so far. They are by far the best LIVE Metal band period. Better then Gwar or Pantera put together. This DVD was fillemed on the "GOD HATES US ALL TOUR 01-02" I saw them on this tour in August w/ SoulFly. It was hella crazy. The opening scene w/ the black lites and blood soaked speakers will blow u away. If your new to SLAYER also pic up; South Of Heaven, Reign In Blood, Divine Intervention, Hell Awaits, & Undiputed Attitude. SLAYER 4 EVER !!!
Rating: Summary: Good show, fans in the "fans rule" need to get a job Review: (...). I tend to look at this for the entertainment value. Sure, the guys in the band look tired and old...and maybe they sound like it..but I give them props for keeping to their original format and doing it again and again. The one thing I admire about this band is their passion for their craft. The fans rule section is nothing more than a bunch of retards who bitch about life from the comfort of their parents' house. I could have done without it. Slayer is a great band...but common....it's ENTERTAINMENT...you don't have to take it literally...
