Rating: Summary: Excellent sound Review: After much searching, I was thrilled to get my hands on this DVD (I already have the CD). What interests me about Michael Kamen is how he attempts and manages to bridge the gap between seemingly odd music genres. This DVD is no different. With David Sanborn, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and George Harrison, you'll definitely get a different blend of music here. The main player beside the NPO is Sanborn with his trusted Selmer saxaphone. Sanborn's playing is very controlled throughout and the orchestra provides adequate backing. This DVD comes with a bonus documentary section where the viewer will get a deeper appreciation on the inspiration that led to the music and interviews with the respective guest artistes. The Concerto music is presented as a collage of images; a section of the orchestra, Sanborn, Kamen and other scenes conveying the mood of the music. The DVD features crisp sound which would definitely please those who own the CD and I would have given this DVD 4 stars if they also include the complete guest performances. In any case, this is a worthy investment as we would probably not get many of this kind of production.
