Rating: Summary: Diana DAZZLES in a classic vintage performance! Review: NOTE: This DVD release was not meant to be released in the USA, and for good reason... the quality of this DVD is terrible! This is a low-budget bad-quality DVD. The sound is acceptable, but the video quality is REALLY TERRIBLE and not worth wasting your money on. Since originally submitting my review of Diana's performance, I discovered that this DVD release is only a cheap copy from an original VHS video tape. If you own the VHS version of this show which was released in the USA several years ago, keep it, because it's a much better quality version of the show than this cheapo DVD release. Now a few words about Diana's performance... . This is a rare opportunity to revisit DIANA ROSS at her vintage best! This concert, originally filmed in 1979 at Caesar's Palace Circus Maximus showroom in Las Vegas, is a fabulous show which spotlights the formerly Supreme diva long before her current tragic decline into alcoholism. (Now known as her "Lady Sings the Booze" phase.) Diana is young and beautiful in this '79 concert, and her extraordinary talent truly shines. The opening and closing numbers using live concert action blended with filmed entrances and exits is astonishing. (Is she live or is she Memorex?) Diana the Diva makes a memorable entrance and exit as only a diva like MISS ROSS can! The music is a mix of classic Ross at her best, along with a few now-dated numbers from her then-current 1979 album. Most of the music is wonderful, despite a few minor and insignificant misses. I heartily recommend this DVD for any Ross fan, old or new. This is how Diana should be remembered, rather than as the pathetically self-centered Miss Ross who shared the stage with two slightly wilted ersatz Supremes of 2000's ill-fated and loveless "Return to Love" tour. Stick this gem in your DVD player and go back to a time when the diva-est diva of them all still reigned Supreme!...
Rating: Summary: Where is Diana? Review: The two-star review is not for Diana's performance. She deserves five stars for her magnificent performance. But this cheaply made video is just a quick cash-in. No doubt, this is a much loved video that has been highly anticipated for DVD release. Unfortunately, this DVD is not worth waiting for. While it sounds great, the picture is horrible. On my TV (28 inches screen), the screen is blurry and cropped. You cannot see things in sharp contrast. I put it in my DVD-Rom and got a sharper image. But I would rather play this on TV. This is a disappointing DVD. I hope HBO or Motown or whatever company produced this video contact the makers of the DVD since it is certainly not an official Diana Ross release. It's a cheap transfer from VHS to DVD. Fans of Diana Ross and this concert video have been warned.
Rating: Summary: Essential Diana Ross on DVD Review: There isn't that much Diana Ross Material on DVD. The pickins are slim but, with that in mind, you won't be disappointed. It seems to have been transfered from a VHS tape format. Not a problem with slight adjustments to your video monitor...a few color, contrast, and brightness adjustments and you are off to Las Vegas!!! from the comfort of your TV room, of course. I, like so many, have been a Diana Ross fan since the mid-sixties and although this performance doesn't include Mary, Flo, or Cindy; still it gives the essence of what we love about the BOSS!!! Miss Ross! Seeing any grown-woman, pop icon/actress, mother of five, strut to and frow across a huge Las Vegas stage singing: "I Ain't Been Licked", is worth the price of the DVD alone. Until such time as there is more "Digital-Diana," Treat yourself to this DVD. You won't be sorry.

Rating: Summary: Miss Ross Remains Supreme Review: This is an absolutly fantastic DVD I bought it off EBAY before it was available in the U.S. and I just love it. Since I was not alive in '79 it is great to see Miss Ross back in her prime. Although Miss Ross sounds great the DVD quality isn't as great and it is a Brazilian release. No liner notes or anything. Still a great concert.

Rating: Summary: Still The Boss Review: Wow - just viewed this for the first time - though cheesy at times - Diana gives one of the most amazing performances ever captured on film. Nostalgia for a bygone era when we had what could be referred to as a true super star. Opening montage is stunning - heart soul and a voice - a shame the Diva is not fully appreciated for her "Supreme" and utterly unique talent - my sixty five year old father was even in awe of the performance. One of a Kind!!
Rating: Summary: Miss Ross at Her Best! Review: You can complain that this isn't a remastered high quality disk, but the glamour and talent isn't lost! This was probably copied from a VHS version, but it's great to have! Thank the Brasilians for capturing this concert on DVD! The audio is fine and the video does resemble VHS, but it is still great to watch!
This production captures the '70's granduer of Diana Ross and Las Vegas! The opening sequence was groundbreaking theatrics - a breakaway from cheesey Vegas shows, and it's caught perfectly on video. This was shot for HBO, and they did a great job shooting a live show at Caesars Palace. You have to love it for the historical value also of seeing Diana visit guests in the audience, such as her three cute little daughters who sing "Reach Out" with their mom, meeting the original Mrs. Ross, her mother, and of course, a rare cameo moment with Marvin Gaye.
If you don't own this, you are not a true Ross fan, and will never experience her in her grandest moments from the late Seventies - she even comments about her wild nights at Studio 54. What a classic!
