Rating: Summary: Gorgeous Album, Novel DVD Review: The Super Furry Animals explode on what amounts to their "Soft Bulletin." (Which was the Flaming Lips' "Sgt. Pepper" which was... ah, you get the idea...)But what of the DVD that accompanies it? Well, these videos vary in quality-To say the least. The lesser videos are nothing more than a mediocre screen saver or a [weak] flash animation. A good portion of the rest involves stock footage. But they're all just a backdrop to the beautiful 5.1 mix of the CD which comes through gloriously. If you're the sort of person who'd spend [money] on a 5.1 Audio DVD ... this is for you. (The DTS was particularly amazing!) There are a few interesting videos in the mix... but the visuals are definitely playing second fiddle. Unfortunately, this assortment does suffer from The Wall / ZooTV-syndrome. A poignant album becomes weighty with it's capital-M Messages when visuals go preachy. We showed up for the harmonies and we got goofy, propaganda. It's such an egotistical embarrasment when musicians start to fancy themselves philosophers and theologians. Ghandi never picked up a guitar and made us suffer through his concept album... ...
Rating: Summary: Fascinating take on great songs Review: This DVD is absolutely amazing. Each song from the album is represented by video done by a commisioned artists. Pete Fowler's "Monsters" pop up in the DVD as well as Ministry of Truth's "Run Christian Run" - perhaps the greatest video of all time. A brave offering of a DVD by a brave band. This DVD goes to show that anything this band releases is one step ahead of its musical peers. Even if you have no idea who this band is, buy this DVD. It's like nothing you have seen before.

Rating: Summary: A fantastic journey Review: This is the ultimate head trip. I don't know how these guys came up with such an original and crazy material, but the DVD complements the already-unbelievable album perfectly. I'm just shocked that something this creative could even exist. It's the sort of thing that restores your faith in humanity. Wow.
Rating: Summary: A waste of some brilliant songs! Review: What could have been some brilliant videos wound up being just an odd mish-mash of stock footage and clunky animation. And would it hurt them to actually let us see the band in at least one of the videos? Juxtaposed with U is the only possibility, but the entire cast is disguised so we'll never know. I've been a Furries fan for a while now and considering how creative their songs are, I was let down by how quickly they've pasted this DVD album together. I would have rather had a few very well done videos for a few of the songs rather than one mediocre video for every song on the album.
