Rating: Summary: Must have for fans Review: After discovering this wonderful band only a few years ago and finally hearing their entire body of work it's nice to now have a live image when getting lost in their music. Especially rewarding to see the original band at it's peak. I believe it's the Angel and the Dark River tour. After the following album the violin/keyboard player and one guitarist quit and the drummer(remarkable) had to leave for health reasons. This timeless magical era in doom metal is indeed a feast for the senses and will invigorate your psyche and soothe your soul.COME TO AMERICA LADS!!!
Rating: Summary: For Fans of the Band While They Were at Their Height Review: I got this DVD initially because I wanted to see all the videos that My Dying Bride had shot and I had never seen before (having lived here in the United States). I had seen their last two videos ("The Cry of Mankind" and "For You") because Peaceville had placed them as enhanced tracks on the Meisterwerk discs -- I had also seen "For You" initially on the Canadian music station "Much Music" on digital cable. While seeing the other videos was not a bad experience, I ended up being more impressed with the live set recorded in March 1996 in Krakow, Polland. On the DVD, the sound was mastered in glorious Dolby Digital 5.1 and the quality of the video was excellent. It really proved to me that My Dying Bride are quite an impressive band to see live. Also on this disc is another live set almost as good as the Krakow one. The sound quality, apart from some early technical problems, is quite good but the video quality suffers from somewhat poor lighting so the band is kind of hard to make-out in the shadows. All in all I strongly recommend this DVD to anyone who loves My Dying Bride but more specifically those of us in the United States who have not had the opportunity to see them live, especially in their original line-up.
Rating: Summary: Must have DVD Review: Very good quality sound and picture on this DVD. Tons of songs. You will not be disappointed. I liked this band a lot. I found it funny when the violinist came out on stage though, I always thought they did that with a keyboard, because using midi you can make violin sounds on keyboard. Anyway, definitely worth buying if you're a heavy metal-goth fan. Only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is their deathier sounding stuff is hard to get into, and this band, as amazing as they are, lacks stage presence.! They don't move around much, and as great as the music is, their music is also their downfall at times because the songs are long and sometimes droll (that's a harsh word but best I could come up with). The combination of these 2 things can bore a live audience. You probably wont watch this all in one sitting. Its a lot of stuff and long. If you liked their "angel & the Dark river" album, then you will like this!
