Summary: Some things NEVER die!
Review: Despite the tacit, undeserved and unspoken "veto" with which American Radio has responded to the Bee Gees since their last hits during the 70s, the rest of the World has always warmled to their efforts to keep up to date and re-invent themselves. This video shows why is it that these guys are still one of the greatest bands ever! Recorded live in Las Vegas during a one night only-concert in november 1997, the production covers a career spanning 30 years. The DVD is full of hits, old and new, special guests such a Celine Dionne, and memorable moments such as a never recorded before version of Grease, and a tribute to the late Andy Gibb. Great sound and excellent harmonizations ,ake this an unforgettable experience. If you're young and have only recently discovered the Bee Gees through the innumerable covers and tribute albums of recent, you'll love this DVD. If you're an old fan...well, this is sweet music for your ears. In summary: don't miss it!

Summary: One of their finest concerts, even better than I remember...
Review: This DVD is simply tremendous!! The Bee Gees have recorded one of their finest performances with awesome DTS audio. Their sound is better than it has ever been and the brothers' voices are as rich as they ever were. Many of the melodies are done with few instruments, so the harmonies are crisp like I have never heard them before. A tremendous collection of their songs along with extras like Celine Dion make the audio alone worth having this concert. The video show is just as fresh, filmed on location at MGM in Las Vegas, the light show is intricate and dramatic. Be ready to sing along with this one and yes, even clap your hands. We were up dancing in our living room!! If you are old enough to remember the Bee Gees at the height of their careers, they can still inspire. A great home theater pick for the family, the audio is rich and yet not overdone. Another generation should get turned on the 'Brothers' Gibb' with this DVD.

Summary: The Gibbs Come Alive On Screen!
Review: This video is very much like the album of the same name. I have given details of this concert for the album(see the ONE NIGHT ONLY CD). However, the playing time of this video is just a bit longer than the album itself. I remember from the concert, not the album, that at one point,Maurice introduced the band. One participant was Barry Gibb's son Stephen. This is one of a handful of concerts that was both seen and heard by those who were or were not in attendance at Las Vegas,Nevada's MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on November 14,1997. The Gibbs were promoting the STILL WATERS album released six months earlier. Too bad there was no video version of HERE AT LAST,the Gibbs' first live set, recorded in 1976.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: I will not argue the merits of whether one cares for the music of the Bee Gees or not. You either like them or you don't. I would have to take great exception to other posts stating that the "sound" of this recording is poor? I have the DTS version. For reference I also have James Taylor Live at the Beacon Theater, Fleetwood Mac's The Dance as well as The Eagles Hell Freezes Over. Anyone that has heard any of these titles is aware of the quality of each of those recordings. The Bee Gees One Night Only is every bit as good as any of the above listed titles. The mix between all 5 speakers is well balanced with a very light and open sound. The mix between the front 3 speakers is very even and natural. The rear speakers are primarily for the ambient concert sounds, as they should be. If you have this DVD and it does not "sound right", I would suggest examining your 5 channel set up.

Summary: The Bee Gees Stayin' Alive
Review: Taped at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Concert is a must for Die-Hard Gibb fans. This is the same concert that the Brothers Performed on New Years Y2K in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Although Barry is losing some of his falsetto vocal control, the unique sound of the Bee Gees is still served well, even after 30 plus years. This recording includes most of their popular hits up to the album "Still Waters". And this multi-media production shows why the BeeGees are one of the very few bands who can continue successfully re-defining themselves.

The highlight of the concert is their Performance of "Don't Throw it All Away (Our Love)". As the song begins, Barry announces "This one's for Andy," their younger brother who had passed away many years earlier. As they sing the first verse of one of their most soaring ballads, A large video monitor shows home movies of Andy as a child. By the end of the first verse, the video shows Andy how he looked at the height of his popularity. Then Barry, Robin and Maurice stand quietly as a video projection of Andy sings the second verse. The brothers perform back-up to Andy's lead and theatrically, it is one of the greatest moments in popular music, the band sharing their own personal grief with the audience. What could easily be termed manipulative certainly seems sincere with the Brothers Gibb.

Their humor is extremely quaint and bordering on insecure which only propels their charm. Other highlights include appearances by Celine Dion and Olivia Newton-John in the front row...

"How Deep is Your Love?!"

Summary: Somewhat lackluster vocals were the main disappointment
Review: This live-concert DVD covers the career span of Bee Gees, from their early hits (Massachusetts, I Started a Joke) to the disco hits (Staying Alive, You Should Be Dancing), to the more recent efforts (One, Still Waters). The interesting selections include songs made popular by other artists, such as Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away) by late brother Andy Gibb, Guilty, Heartbreaker, Island in the Stream, etc. The only disappointment I have toward the program is the fact that Barry Gibbs' falsetto has clearly aged and lost its piercing quality. You can really see him strain to hit some of the notes. However, balanced that with the tribute to Andy, and the shots of Olivia Newton-John and her daughter during the song "Grease," this DVD is still worth having for those of us who grew up with "Saturday Night Fever" and the Bee Gees music. It brings back happy memory.

Summary: I wish I could give this 10 stars!
Review: For anyone who group up on the Bee Gees, the live album we all owned and loved was "Frampton Comes Alive." Alright, I know you have all hidden the vinyl copy of that one away in the recesses of your closet and won't 'fess up to spinning that one 24/7 "back in the day." Well, I have news: this live performance beats any I have heard, it's *that good.* The Bee Gees, like McCartney, have always taken great pains to sing their songs live as closely as possible to the original. I appreciate this and their efforts to duplicate their classics here meet with much success. Particularly amazing is Robin's haunting, gorgeous vocal on "I Started a Joke," one of the great Bee Gees of all time. Similarly impressive is "New York Mining Disaster," which shows the brothers still had the ability to harmonize beautifully.

The only slight criticism is Barry's high notes and falsetto, which he strains to reach, especially on "Stayin' Alive." He's backed up with some invisible (and pre-recorded) mystery voices, but his ability to sustain the high notes has decreased with time. Personally, I don't care. This is an awesome live performance and for anyone who admires the brothers Gibb, this is something from which you'll derive hours of enjoyment.
