Summary: Boy o Boy, What a Lousy Girl!
Review: It's her banned-by-MTV video in DVD format. I can't help but feel a bit bamboozled with this one. It's not a particularly stunning video in the traditional Madonna form, but because it was banned for its violent content, the curiosity factor was naturally on high. While the song is definitely one of Madonna's best, I can't say the same for the video. The visuals didn't connect with the song on any level, especially since the song is a remix of the LP version, minus the breathtaking lyrics. The violent content over which there was such a big flap, turns out to be nothing we all haven't seen in old Starsky and Hutch reruns. The only thing worth mentioning is how Madonna has the uncanny fashion sense to make a boiler suit look fetching. In addition, since there are no extra special DVD treats such as commentary or outtakes, I would have to advise against this purchase unless you're a die hard fan.

Summary: Brutal, Visual, Just Plain Madonna
Review: Directed by husband Guy Ritchie, Madonna's newest video "What It Feels Like For A Girl" shows a night in the life of a woman who obviously likes to display her anger in various ways. Banned from playing on MTV due to its' content, the video is somewhat strong in violent, especially with all the recent waves of school shootings and driving into pedestrians in the United States. However, Madonna has always been a rebel in whatever she does, and this video is no exception.After abducting an elderly woman residing in a nursing home, Madonna goes on one hell of a joyride, crashing into street hockey players, crashing into a cop car, and mugging a man at an ATM via the use of a stun gun. I loved the video, but the most annoying thing about it is Madonna's annoying British accent. I know that she is an Anglophile, but the girl is from Michigan! Director Ritchie as usual displays his directorial style of violence and high energy scenes just like he did in his past films. Love her or hate her, Madonna is the ultimate music video star. Check this and her other videos on DVD to capture the quality of her music and videos in your homes.

Review: This DVD Single is very satisfying, it's a must-have item for any Madonna collector. This DVD only contains the video for "What It Feels Like For A Girl", this is your only chance to see it and own it because MTV would not air the video because of its violent content, don't freak out, it's nothing too strong, Madonna just appears crashing cars, stealing and other ilegal stuff. The version of the song in this video is the "(Above & Beyond 12" Radio Edit)" (included in the CD Maxi-Single), it's a very cool mix which fits perfectly with the video. I totally recomend to buy this DVD, it's a great video with excellent music. Buy it now because only a small amount of copies were made and its now becoming a rare item on stores and on Amazon.

Summary: One Of Madonna's Best Videos-That You'll Never See
Review: Okay, this is nothing new. A Madonna clip gets banned, and then sold for a pretty reasonable price. Everybody's happy. But what if the video isn't as controversial as it has been made out to be? Furthermore, Madonna is no longer vamping in sleazy hotels or dressing up in her best dominatrix gear. This, her third release from Music was banned for violence. What it feels like for a girl is a violent video, but compared to the hundreds of blood and guts on TV today, it's pretty tame. Perhaps it would be more shocking in the 80's or very early 90's, but it's not and nearly everything on MTV's playlist could be considered violent or dangerous in some way. The video does grab attention at the very second. Madonna is dressing, and there are awful bruises all over her body. The song is about the role of women in the world, and one of the most compelling in Madonna's catalog. It's only right that Madonna takes out her aggression on men in the video. She, along with her grandmother, go on a crime spree in a yellow camaro. She is armed with a stun gun and (gasp!) a water gun, nearly runs over teens, robs, all ending with a fiery crash. It's one of her best and definitely not the pro-violence message she has been accused of. Madonna is an artist, and her videos are fantasies. For three decades, that's been hard for people to understand.

Review: Back in March, I was stunned to hear the news that after the long 12 years of notorious controversies over Madonna's videos like "Justify My Love", "Like A Prayer", and "Erotica", the station banned her again, this time, for the haunting "What It Feels Like For A Girl" track from the 2x platinum "Music", claiming it was too violent. Being a huge Madonna fan, I promptly bought the DVD a couple of weeks later. I was left confused after watching the video. I couldn't understand what was so violent and risque about this video. I personally found Eminem's "Stan" or the infamous Jackass to be more violent. What you see in this video is disturbing, but far from violent. Madonna goes on a joyride around the town with an old lady on her side. She winks at some flirty men at a stop light, then quickly U-turns around and slams right into them. She steals money by stun gunning a chubby dude at an ATM, messes with some police, and finally wraps her car around a post at the end. Sounds pretty bad, right? Well, none of what I just said is really seen in a violent manner. The crash into the flirting men at the stop sign is seen for no less than a split second and the other things like the stun gun are not really seen, but implied. The most violent part of the video is the car crash at the end. It is very realistic, and its probably why MTV had second thoughts about it. Besides that, the video is clean. No gore, no nothing. The video is incredible, and its clearly one of her most artistically shot and most mysterious videos. It really raises up a lot of questions. And Madonna looks beautiful! Above all, the video is great, but if you're looking for a violent action packed fest, think again.

Review: Madonna has always been known to shock the world with her dazzling music videos and live performances. WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL is not the first video to be banned by MTV and VH1. Back in 1990, the music video for the controversial JUSTIFY MY LOVE was banned by MTV and VH1 and was the first music video to be released on VHS as a video single. WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL, the third and final single to be released from her MUSIC (2000) album, is directed by Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie. This is a video that shows us a side of Madonna that none of us have ever seen before: it's violent. Although the album version may be a moving ballad with uplifting vocals and lyrics, Madonna wanted to get the song's message out to the people by making the video to what is here. Madonna had said that, "...It shows my character acting out of fantasy and doing things that girls are not allowed to do. This is an angry song and I wanted a matching visual with an edgy dance mix". Madonna had also said that she indeed hopes that the video will get people talking and open dialogue and she succeeded. The hypocrites have given Madonna and this video a bad name. I, as the rest of my fellow Madonna fans, on the other hand have thought this video was a great step for Madonna. Madonna has also been known to change her look, sound of music, outfits, and style of performances for many years and making this video to what it is was one of the many great ways of showing that. The video starts off with Madonna sitting in a motel room in a navy-blue jumpsuit. She puts on one earring that reads LADY. She grabs her suitcase and leaves the room and gets into her car where the front license plate reads PUSSY and the back reads CAT. You put the two words together and you get PUSSYCAT. At this exact moment, Madonna's elderly grandmother is sitting in a nursing home. Madonna hot-wires the car and drives off to the nursing home to pick up her grandmother. The name of the nursing home reads OLE KUNTZ' HOME. She puts her grandmother in the car and the two go off on their crime spree. While stopped at a red light, Madonna looks to her right and notices four hoodlums in the car next to her. She makes a wide U-turn and rams the hoodlums' car. She drives on to a MAC machine, takes out her stun gun and uses it on the man at the machine. She walks off with his money, a load of it I might add, and drives to a fast-food joint where she buys a bag of fries and two drinks where she then squirts water into two cops' faces. Then she's off to ram a couple of hockey players on roller skates, leading to Madonna throwing away the remaining bag of fries. She stops at a gas station where she and her grandmother ditch their car and get into a new one, a car that is actually being filled with gas by its owner. The minute the two drive off, the grandmother is back in the nursing home who spent the last 3 or 4 minutes imagining this whole fantasy. Madonna is back in her motel room picking out alias. She grabs her suitcase and heads out the door. The room number is 669, but when she slams the door, she slams it hard enough to make the 9 flip into a 6, making the room number change from 669 to 666, where the video ends with Madonna crashing the stolen car into a pole. Violent, but so what? There are many other things on T.V. that are much more violent than a music video, but that only goes to show you that these hypocrites are always out to bring Madonna down and after 21 years, they still haven't learned that they cannot bring her down. They all know that Madonna is the Queen Diva and with a video like this, she will be the Queen Diva for eternity and beyond. Buy this video if you have not yet seen it and prepared to see the Madonna you have never in your life seen.

Summary: Two stars too many
Review: I've been debating how many stars to award the Video Single for 'What it feels like for a girl'. When people complained that the 'Music' DVD contained only two video versions of the song and no audio versions at all, I had to agree that it was criminal to not use so much available DVD space. Even more stunning is the revelation that this DVD contains only one version of the song - the banned video that everyone has already recorded off VH1 and MTV the night they aired it. As a novel Madonna video, this is a rather nice one and makes for compelling watching, though it doesn't add up to much (most people I know would say the same of Madonna herself). As a longtime Madonna fan, this is not a purchase that I would make instantly, if I were you. Madonna has taken one of the best tracks off the album, killed it with a remix, and set it to a hardly violent video. Honestly, if you've watched it, you will have realized how tame it is in comparison to MTV's 'Jackass'. Shouldn't people be spending their time banning something else? Its no secret that this track, once so promising, has become Madonna's biggest single blunder since the release of 'Music'. To own it on DVD is not essential, as is the entire mess surrounding the song at the moment. Lets concentrate on more important things.

Review: Not surprising that a video about crashing down female stereotypes and breaking out of society's mold was banned on MTV. I think it makes Madonna's point that much more clear: Stop the double standards and mistreatment of women. The video is great. Watch it. Think about the videos YOU see on MTV- Jay-Z being shot for 30 seconds, men crashing cars and objectifying women: and you decide what needs editing in our society.
