Rating: Summary: Harder faster and weirder. That's Roger Waters. Review: More than a movie, it's a cult movement. Despite the strange content of the film, you can still understand it even if you're not stoned. I rented it once (after seeing it with friends) and watched it so many times I memorized it all. Great acting job by that guy who played Pink, and it was his first movie too! Excellent, and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: PINK FLOYD: the beautiful legend Review: To all who have always had an interest in Pink Floyd, or Clockwork Orange type films: this is THE BEST! This is an incredible movie. Not only is it a full-length music video for the entire two-disc album, but it's like any ordinary tragedy film; a beginning, middle, and an end. I recommend everyone to watch this with a group of friends, following the movie A Clockwork Orange-these two are bound to have you in store for one crazy weekend!
Rating: Summary: One mans journey from materialism to madness to resignation. Review: Pink Floyds "The Wall" is a masterpiece in search of anarchy. We follow the hero through his life as he struggles to know "when" to love, hate, kill, go crazy etc. He finds in the end that he is society, and the first brick to fall must be himself.
Rating: Summary: A mind blowing movie which will make you LOVE Pink Floyd Review: Whether you are an avid Pink Floyd listener or you are a complete novice in the realm of the masters, this movie will turn you into a fan. It cronicles the life of a man who basically loses touch with the outside world. When he was a young boy his father died in WWII. His mother is an over-protective woman who doesn't give him the confort he needs. The school system only serves to isolate him. As a result of this he has his first encounter with drugs which gives him the only semblance of relief from his life. When he is grown he becomes a rock superstar, but still does not find peace or satisfaction. As his life progresses 'the wall' around him grows. The wall serves as the only barrier keeping him from complete insanity. His final punishment????This is an amazing movie which is highly under rated. Truly some of the best music by Pink Floyd (and therefor some of the best music ever created) accentuated by stuning imagery and vivid use of animation. A definate must see!
Rating: Summary: A look into the life of a druged up man struggling to find.. Review: A look into the life of a druged up man struggling to find some type of reality or meaning. It depicts the man as a boy in a time of war, then as a struggling post-adelesent, and as a hysterical hallucinating man going crazy with nothing and no one to comfert him. Great story, animation and music.
Rating: Summary: It's just not floyd... Review: As a die-hard Pink Floyd fan, I wasn't very stunned by this DVD. It's a big spectacular show and it must have been fabulous to all of the people who were there, but I'm not really fond of all the 'stars' like Brian Adams or Cindy Lauper who just don't fit in. The Wall is a very good but also a very dark album, and it's not the right album to be played by a bunch of famous rockartists. Most of the time I skip to the parts that Waters sings, for me, these are the highlights. I really hope someday the original Wall-show (of '81) will be released on DVD of VHS.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: A great find for all those pink floyd fans or not. Excellent cast, of artists and singers. Love it and will keep on lvin it. Don't let anyone tell you differently. A great buy for anyone who likes music. i wish there was more of it!!!! From begining to end it is spectacular. It is not only a concert, a show insde it self. Buy it with great pride.
Rating: Summary: Not perfect, but very good Review: A couple bad choices in the celebrity lineup: Sinead (she looked bored, out of place) and Van Morrison (his voice was shot). All the rest were fine to excellent. Even Lauper, who I am not a fan of, didn't annoy me with her energetic performance. As usual Roger put together an awesome backing band. BTW, I don't think Roger gets adequate credit for his vocals. His voice is very strong and he handles the high stuff really well. Bravo to him for putting together this amazing production and the DVD captures it well. I won't watch it as often as his In The Flesh Live DVD (which is flat out spectacular) but I'm certainly glad I bought it.
Rating: Summary: must see Review: this is the best live concert that i have ever seen on tape. i had it on a vhs tape when it first came out. just ordered it on dvd cant wait to check it out on my 5.1 theater system
Rating: Summary: Sure, it's overblown but I loved it. Review:
This is more of a spectacle than a concert. It's overblown. It's damn near ridiculous with the helicopters, the limousines on stage, the hundreds of extras, and the A-list guest singers/performers. But, it's absoluely wonderful.
I'm a Pink Floyd fan; there's no doubt about that. And, I love this concert.
It pains me to say this, but Cyndi Lauper is annoying. Fortunately, she only sings one song. The rest of the guest singers complement the show - Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, and Joni Mitchel to name just a few.
The theatrics are just over the top. I can't help but believe that this DVD provides the best seat in the house. For anyone having actually attended the concert, I'm sure a lot was lost visually. So much of the concert takes place behind the Wall. And, there are tens of thousands of concert goers - dare I say hundreds of thousands. I doubt the audio could have been that good for them. For the DVD viewer, the audio is excellent. Furthermore, the DVD blows the viewer away with the vastness of it all.
It's a lot of pomp, but Waters pulls it off with style.
