Summary: Chili Peppers at their BEST!!
Review: An amazing performance in front of 80,000 eager fans. They sound absolutly incredible. Anthony's singing is dead on. John and Flea's jams are second to none. Watch the intro solo to Around the World. Flea has more chops than most guitarist I've seen. The jam-into to Californication is awsome too. They play almost every song from their By The Way album and some from Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The DvD sound is flawless. You can feel the energy just as if you were at the concert. They editors also put in this cool bullet time effect where they'd freeze a frame (Ex. Flea in midair) and rotate the camera angle. For any Chili Pepper fan this DvD is a must. Especially if you want The Chili Peppers at their absolute best.

Summary: Great Concert DVD
Review: I was at the concert, so when I saw the DVD, I had to order it.
This is a really cool DVD. My personal favourite songs are Havana affair, which was from the ramones tribute album.
I also like the way they left in bits like flea starting the Irish National anthem, and chad drumming along to Irish soccer chants, which i thought they'd edit out for an international market.
Well worth buying if you're a red hot chilli peppers fan. The camera work is really cool. Especially the matrix style shot of anthony in the air, they have a few times.

Summary: Absolute perfection!!
Review: When I started watching this DVD I was expecting bad sound quality like buzzing vocals and drumming that doesn't match up with the sound. However, I was blown away by the absolute perfection in sound quality, as well a picture quality. This DVD could be made into a live cd it's so good. This is a MUST buy for any Chili Peppers fan!!

Summary: Wow..... Chili Peppers are awesome
Review: I have seen the Chili Peppers twice, and was blow away each time. Now I have a DVD that I can watch over and over to re-live the experience. This is a great concert with all the classics and the typical live jams that they do. The direction is awesome, as well, with great shots and great camera work. The absolute energy that they put into every show is amazing, and this really shows all of that. Even if you're not a fan of the band's studio stuff, this will please anyone that loves live music.

Words can not descibe how powerful this performance is. John Fruchante is a true visonary. The most innovative, skilled guitarist since Jimmy Hendrix he is. Funky Flea is Jimmy Hendrix. Summary: Be Inspired
Review: This concert begins just before twilight, the sun setting over the river Boyne, the crowd singing the first few lines of By the Way 'Standing in line to see the show tonight, and there's a light on ......'. Flea, John and Chad arrived on stage, then to be joined by Anthony to start the song the crowd had pre-empted. The selection of songs and their musicianship are perfection, their sartorial sense perhaps less so. The DVD shows Flea wearing a full skeleton outfit, Chad a boiler suit, John in rodeo wear and Anthony giving a more toned down than usual but still present nod to Angus Young in cut-off trousers and two-tone top with the essential wrestling gloves. Extraordinary.

Flea's musical flair and personality are showcased here to great effect with his skillful playing and friendly manner. Standout tracks for him were 'Throw Away Your Television' and 'Give it Away', and to top it all he gives a flourish of trumpet playing during the encore which merely confirms his amazing talent and love of this art form. He made the most asides to the crowd with mention of the local geography and some distant Irish relatives which gave their performance wit and made it more personal. In a fleamail (on the official website) written the previous night, the gig is mentioned and seemed truly excited.

John was also inspiring blending a mesmerising range of textures and styles into his guitar playing and providing sweet harmonies. He does a brief solo do-wop song on chapter 2 of the DVD which is beautiful. Other striking harmonies are on Universally Speaking, Havana Affair (by the Ramones) and Purple Stain. Chad's drumming was awesome and focused and the distinctive tones of Anthony's vocals were in equal parts honeyed and adrenalized.

This concert was staged on the 23rd August, the birthday of Keith Moon and River Phoenix, and this performance, by one most the artistic and talented bands out there, is a perfect tribute. Get yourself a treat for the weekend.

Summary: Fantastic show
Review: The Chilis confirm their reputation as one of the best live bands on the planet. This incredible performance, filmed in August in front of over 80,000 people, gives a glimpse of how 4 extremely talented people come together and become more than the sum of their parts.
The Chili Peppers have always been about the fusion of different styles of music to create a unique sound all their own. The blend of funk and rock has always been at the core, with pop, blues and rap dancing in and out of their music. Their sound continues to evolve, and this concert is a showcase for what they are all about.
Anthony, Flea, and Chad are all fantastic musicians and performers, and you could drop any guitar player in there and they would still be a great band. What takes this band to the next level and in my mind the best band out there is John Fruchante.
John really shines in this show, adding layers of sound and melody to the songs beyond the studio versions. His ability to create new and different sounds with his playing is truly inspired. He can play funk, rock, blues and pop guitar with equal skill, and his instinct to back off at times and and let the other members shine is the strength of the band.
Being a Chili Peppers fan from way back, I have followed this band for some time. They continue to amaze me, and this concert was even better than expected. The songs are mostly from Californication and By the Way, but there is enough older material to keep long time fans happy.
My only complaint is that the director keeps changing camera shots every 3 seconds. There is plenty to look at, but I found the contant changes distracting.
If you are a fan of music, you should check out this show and see what one of the most talented and creative bands out there today is up to.
Fantastic show!
