Summary: Great and touching.
Review: This Benefit DVD, is pure. It features the broadcast of the 2hr telethon transmition.
I loved almost every single performance I really didnt care for bonjovi or enrique iglesias, which i didnt watch, but the one song that i didnt like was limp biskit's modified version of pink floyds classic "wish you were here"
most notable on the cd are Tom Petty, Neil Young and Eddie Vedder who do amazing songs.
The spoken parts, and in memoriam video takes are touching...
All the speeches are heartfelt and very good
and by the final performance everybody rounds up
in support for the cause
and sings alongside willie nelson.
this is a wonderful dvd, and one you should own whatsoever!

Summary: Good Buy
Review: This DVD is put together very well. If your thinking of purchasing a momento of the events that occured on Sept. 11th - this is a good one. Oviously I have some bias being a huge Pearl Jam fan, but Eddie Vedder's performance of "The Long Road" with Niel Young is worth the 20 bucks by itself...

Summary: The best concert ever
Review: This experience was amazing when it was live. We all got to see how things effect everybody. This wasn't about how many 20 million dollar actors there right now or who signed who for what. This was about healing and the need for it to start right then and there. The artists were hurt and angry just like us still they got up there and played to say "we're with you". This is what makes music great and I think that we're starting to fall away from that. This one night however we can hold on to what music should be. This DVD is amazing and one that all should own. Where else are you going to see Fred Durst not (...) for once? In fact he kinda kicks a$$ with wish you were here. If you didn't give before this is your chance.

Summary: Outstanding and moving DVD, but let's not confuse the issue.
Review: This is a DVD that truly captures the feelings and emotions we will never completely forget following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The performances are heartfelt, and the between-song montages and speaking segments by various celebrities are often as moving as the musical performances. This tribute is as good a historical document of that tragic event as any, as well as a document and testimony to the willingness of Americans, famous or not, to pull together when needed the most.

I do have to comment on a previous reviewers observation about the supposed irony of performers on this tribute who later took anti-war stances. We're talking apples and oranges here. This tribute is about performers showing their respect and heartfelt feelings towards the victims and heroes of September 11; it's not about politics. It is entirely reasonable and not at all ironic that a performer would wish to devote their time and emotion to a tribute of this nature out of respect for the victims, yet later be critical of the decision to invade Iraq. I would be more concerned about people who CAN'T separate the two issues.

Summary: beautiful song from Enrique
Review: Whats the deal with you guys writing except for Enrique Iglesias this except for Enrique Iglesias that... all songs have different meaning and his song Hero when I heard it to me ir related to the fireman and police officers that died during that sad day of 9/11 and did their duty to save others disregarding their own life. It didn't relate to me about a love song it all depends on how you hear it. Also another comment about his eye lashes were made... that's a pretty immature thing to say knowing that this is about a tribute to American Heroes, I was just baffled to this comments that were made to him. I have something to ask you guys that wrote that, if he was American, would you have written that about him? just a thought.

Summary: An Important and Emotional Experience
Review: When I first saw this program when it was originally broadcasted I couldn't express all the emotions and feelings that were running through my mind. I sat there, starring at the television set truly mesmerized by the majestic musical performances and the somber stars. Highlights of the night included numbers by Bruce Springstein, Wyclef Jean and Neil Young. Faith Hill's performance of "There Will Come A Day" especially touched me. This DVD is a phenomenal buy as it serves as a crucial piece of history for years and years to come. But, be emotionally prepared before you watch it as it painfully reminds us all of the extreme sadness and grief caused by September 11th, 2001. Kudos to all the stars who showed up to help create one of the most important and emotional experiences to hit television in a long, long time. God Bless.

Summary: A Perfect Snapshot in Time of an Imperfect Time
Review: When I saw this concert/telethon broadcast live on Friday, 9-21-2001, I had no idea just how much of an emotional effect of sadness as well as comfort it would have on me and my friends. On that Friday, myself and 5 friends planned to watch this together. We ate dinner together and talked almost exclusively about 9-11... what we were feeling, asking questions, trying to understand where we would go from here. A half our before the show, we all gathered in my living room and lit a dozen or so candles and turned off the lights and sat talking more while drinking beer.

Once the concert began, aside from occassional sobbing and tears, we were utterly silent throughout. The lineup was suberb. Most genres of music were represented, by some of the biggest artists, coupled with comments by major celebreties between songs. At no point during the show were any of the guests/celebreties names who appeared stated. It wasn't about self-promotion. It was about healing.

What makes this concert/tribute so important is that it reflects how the entire country of the USA, and much of the world, was feeling on 9-21. It is a scrapbook of a time we know we will never forget. It's a video and musical record of the pain caused by 9-11.

The USA and the world was never more united than at the time this concert took place. It was the first time, and perhaps last time, that a show was broadcast on all the major TV networks as well as dozens of cable stations, simultaniously.

Buy this for yourself, as a keepsake. Buy it so you can show your children or grandchildren someday so they might understand just how much 9-11 hurt us.

Summary: If only there were more time....
Review: While this was a great and uplifting tribute to America, I couldn't help but be disappointed by the DVDs poor quality.
With a little more preparation this could have been great! But, I suppose the quality isn't the point. I thought they said this wouldn't come out on DVD? Or CD? What gives?
Recommended only because it's for a great cause.
