Rating: Summary: Simply the best...not anymore Review: This was Tina Turner's best of collection in 1991, not in 2002. It's a shame that EMI does not include her hits of the nineties for this dvd release. Instead they just release exactly the same version that was available on VHS and laserdisc in 1991. ...
Rating: Summary: shame on you EMI/Capitol ! Review: Tina Turner's greatest hits are finally available on DVD. The collection may be her greatest hits for the US market, since she hasn't had a major hit in the States since "I don't wanna fight" in 1993. (When The heartache was over was however a hit on the Billboard dance charts). But She has kept producing hit after hit in Europe throughout the nineties and none of these songs are included on the disc. This could have been a great dvd release. There is enough space on a dvd disc to include her complete music video collection + some extra's...An interview with Tina Turner looking back on her solo career would have been great. Where are the video's for "Two People", "One of the living", "Help", "Goldeneye", "Girls", "Paradise is here". "Way of the world", "I want you near me". "I don't wanna fight", "Disco inferno", Why must we wait until tonight", "Goldeneye", "whatever you want", "Missing You", "On Silent Wings", "something beautiful remains", "In Your wildest dreams", "Can't stop thinking of you", "When the heartache is over" and "whatever you need" ???? Plus why replace the video's of We don't need another hero and Typical Male with live versions??? EMI should have taken some extra time to produce this dvd instead of just copying the 1991 release on DVD. What a shame.... Why EMI can produce great compilations for the beatles and Queen but not for Tina Turner is a mystery to me. EMI, Show some respect to the most succesfull live performer in history !

Rating: Summary: Simply the best on DVD Review: Tina Turner's greatest hits collection is finally released on dvd by Capitol Records. The dvd contains no extra's and is exactly the same as the VHS version released in 1991. The DVD mixes Tina Turner's video's with some live recordings. For example, I can't stand the rain, Typical Male and We don't need another hero are live recordings instead of the music videos. The quality of the dvd is not bad but it is certainly not a disc to show of your system or show the possibilities of DVD. The Dolby Digital soundtrack is good but not too different from the original stereo sound. If you do not have this title in any format it is worth adding to your collection. It takes you back to the eighties when Tina Turner was at the peak of her success. For those who have a laserdisc copy of "Simply the Best", do not exchange it for the dvd copy. The quality of the Laserdisc is at least as good as the dvd and you get three video's extra (way of the world (2 versions) and I want you near me). Why Capitol or EMI did not update this release with her hits of the 90 s is a mystery to me...Or will we see a "Simply the best 2" coming soon ??
Rating: Summary: MISLEADING BUT ESSENTIAL TINA DVD. Review: Well I am thrilled to have Tina's videos on DVD. However be warned for some inexplicable reason (as was with the 1991 video release) these are not all videos, some are live performances. So what you may say? Well we have these performancews on other DVDs! The DVD says video collection yet Typical Male AND We don't need another Hero are live performances. BUMMER!!! And where is One Of the Living? Oh well it does have the amazing treat of Tina's first video version of "What's Love Got To with It" that was scrapped. A much edgier (but not better) take on the song...:TRACK LISTING: The Best Better Be Good To Me I Can't Stand The Rain What's Love Got To Do With It Typical Male Private Dancer We Don't Need Another Hero What You Get Is What You See I Don't Wanna Lose You Look Me In The Heart Addicted To Love Steamy Windows Break Every Rule Foreign Affair Tonight Let's Stay Together Be Tender With Me Baby It Takes Two Nutbush City Limits Love Thing What's Love Got To Do With It (Scrapped Version) So now all we need is Private Dancer Live on DVD!!!
