Rating: Summary: A great YES concert Review: I saw this video last week on PBS. I thought it was really good. At first I was scared that they would mainly do songs from "The Ladder", but I was happy when they didn't. For any YES fans I would recommend this video. It starts out with "Yours is No Disgrace" (I know the songs but they might not be in the right order) "Owner of a Lonely Heart", "And You and I", "Face to Face", "The Ritual- Nu Somme Du Sollei(however you spell that)", "Lightning Strikes", and of course they finish up with "Roundabout". The only disappointment of this program was the annoying PBS people who kept interrupting the show to talk and ask for money. They cut out most of "The Ritual" and I'm not sure what else they cut out.Get this one while you can because they always stop producing them after a while.
Rating: Summary: YES is Back again, great show. Review: What can you expect from YES in a tiny club like the House of Blues?...."Everything" They sound incredible, the music is given 100% effort. Homeworld, the new tune is great!, Igor the New Keyboardist is exceptional. Great Performance of Awaken, Perpetual Change. Lightening Strikes, Good Day, etc.....great stuff. Now all we need is For Yes to Film the Masterworks tour for another DVD soon David_Carlin@vtel.com
Rating: Summary: New Yes show better on VHS/DVD than on PBS TV Review: I saw the "new" [Actually, it's from Halloween '99] Yes show on PBS [TWICE!] and saw their pledge drive saying the new video has more songs than what was shown on TV. So, if you saw it on PBS and wanted to see more, YOU CAN!
Rating: Summary: House of Blues MINUS 2 Review: I may be nitpicking, but i am sure many agree!Great show, by the greatest band, but why are the 2 tracks that were played during the commercials not included! The idea of DVD (i thought) is that you put everything that is played by a band on these disc. There are a lot of bonus thingies on this disc, but another 30 minutes for the 2 tracks not included would have made this disc the ultimate YES DVD. WHY OH WHY did they do this! I would still recommend this disc, eventhough it`s not a complete show. (No wonder the bootleggers are doing big business, THEY DO release the entire show on CD, and possibly on video). SHAME!
Rating: Summary: Another Defective - I'm Re-Buying! Review: I saw this show the night before this taping when they played Phoenix's now-closed Union Hall. It truly was (and is) the best concert I have ever seen in my life, and I still get chills thinking about it. It was eerie when Jon Anderson played the little harp and coincidentally was illuminated in shadow on an adjacent wall like an angel - I wonder whether it was planned that way, but doubt it.
Like others, sadly, I bought this DVD when it first came out, and was disappointed that it stopped playing after just a few tries; what the heck is going on with these? It almost seems like the precursor of the limited time use discs you can get at stores where they are only good for a couple of days, as the disc surface reacts with air or something to make it unusable after a while. I now have DVD X-Copy, and will make a "back-up" copy as soon as I open the package on the new disc.
When I first got this DVD, I was initially just flat blown away by the quality of both the audio and the video, and then amazed that this was the exact same show I had seen in Phoenix - set list, order, timing, comments to the crowd, etc. I came to realize that the show I saw was the day (or two) before this taping and was the tune-up for the House of Blues show.
Buy this disc, as others have said, it may change your life. Make a back up copy if possible. That way you can do more than look at the box in the years to come!
Rating: Summary: A Defective Gem Review: A great DVD--A+....until it stops working! When is someone going to fix this and stop selling a defective product?
Rating: Summary: Saw this Live! Review: Since I loved this DVD so much I repeatedly loaned it out to anyone who was curious. You always want to share YES. Well, the last time, it didn't come home. So now I'm buying a replacement. Why? Exceptional musicians give outstanding performances in this DVD. The feelings that were stirred in me at the actual concert come flooding back everytime I revisit through the video. Jon,Chris,Steve,Alan,Billy Sherwood and Igor. If you're a YES fan, you may think twice about a Russian keyboardist (Igor Korechev)probably just filling in, or making do as the replacement for the dream maker Wakeman. Well, he does much more than fill in. He's perfection, and since he grew up a fan of the band you can tell this is his chance to be part of the dream. The entire show is a masterpiece. In addition to the classic songs are a couple of 80's pieces(in which Sherwood shines as well), all done masterfully. But without hesitation I can say the new selections from the then current (1999)release "The Ladder" could easily have come from the 70's era. They wrote the songs for Ladder as a group, collaborating once again as they did in the days of yore. Beautiful! I could go on and on but I'll leave at this, buy it, really take time to listen and it could change your life. A fantastic voyage for the eyes, ears and heart. Remember, LIFE IS SHORT....MAKE FUN OF IT!

Rating: Summary: DEFECTIVE DISK Review: I too am one of the unfortunates who can no longer play this disk in any of my DVD players. I've tried it in both of my stand-alone players, as well as the DVD trays in my desktop PCs and the player in my laptop. It won't play in any of them. The disk surface is perfectly clean and undamaged, and there is no damage whatsoever anywhere on the entire disk. In reading the reviews posted here by others who are having the same problems, it would seem that the company that manufactured these now-useless disks has gone out of business. Serves them right for producing such expensive, defective products. Hopefully YES will see to it that this disk is reissued by a quality manufacturer, and those of us who are stuck with these pieces of junk will be able to exchange them for free.
