Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This is the first Widescreen concert registration that I've seen and it's beautiful. Not only the audio quality is very good (some people have paid attention here!) but the direction is also impressive. But as I said, seeing this in widescreen is really great - it adds to the feeling of being there at the concert. And now for the greatest news, especially for all fellow Yes fans, these guys are still in great shape! What a super performance this is. Even the really old stuff is played beautifully and gives you back the feeling of yesteryears. This DVD has to be recommended to everyone who likes top notch concerts but especially to all Yes fans out there: get this disc!
Rating: Summary: SUPERB.....It'll be a good day.. Review: As expected, YES always show that they're musically intelligent. No questions about that. As always, Steve's play is very inspiring, technically superb. A high pitch tone from Jon is still perfect (no wonder Kitaro called it the "angel's voice"). As a group, they always set a barometer to others of how the music should be beautifully played. Stay healthy guys, so more masterpieces can still be coming.
Rating: Summary: The Best Yet Review: This is the best concert DVD to date. The band, video and audio are spectacular! Some songs on this DVD are close to 30 years old and they still sound fresh and better than any music you hear on radio today. "Time and a Word" and "Ritual" are each less than one minute. "Cinema" is just the intro. All other songs are presented in their entirety. The computer graphics added during "Homeworld" are ok and don't take away from the performance, but great musicians playing great music makes a great DVD and added graphics are not necessary. There is a slight pause between "Face to Face" and "Awaken" where the camera pans to the audience, but this is only a minor DVD flaw and does not take away from the flow of the show. There should be more DVD concerts like this available. Re-release the ABWH DVD, film Masterworks, and how about some Zappa, Tull, Dregs, Holdsworth, Rush, Utopia, Gabriel, Genesis and other similar artists?
Rating: Summary: YES--You will want to own this DVD! Review: This is one of the best produced music DVD's that I have ever seen! The songs and performances are outstanding--that's a given with YES. This concert was originally filmed in HDTV for DirectTV so the color resolution is very crisp and clear. The 5.1 surround sound was mixed very well also. (I just wish that they had included a DTS sound mix also!) This DVD contains lots of interesting bonus materials including a virtual tourbook of concert photos, and an in-studio interview with the band. I also really enjoyed the 5.1 audio mix of the new YES song "Homeworld". Imagine listening to your favorite audio CD in surround sound. This is how all audio CD's should be mixed in the future!
Rating: Summary: No Sunrise! Review: This DVD was put together well except for the fact that they left out "Heart Of The Sunrise" which was performed at the concert the night it was taped. I was looking forward to it being on the DVD since I am a fan of the band and Chris Squire. Other than that, I enjoyed all the video had to offer.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful show Review: I watched this concert when it was first aired over the Internet from the House of Blues website and then watched it over and over last December when DirecTV was showing it. I already knew that the performance was wonderful. Where else in the US are you going to find a live performance of Awaken? The sound is delightful. The mastering of the show into 5.1 surround adds a new level of reality and presence. It was well executed. The 5.1 remix of the studio version of Homeworld is fun but sounds a little gimmicky. The original is superior. I am very disappointed that the performance of Close to the Edge in this concert has been edited out and is not included on the DVD. Seems the media companies always have to do something stupid like that when releasing a live album or concert video. Do they think the fans wouldn't be interested in seeing it? I don't get it. But the show that remains on the DVD is pure magic. I highly reccomend this DVD.
Rating: Summary: Excelente!
Rating: Summary: Where is the information about aspect ratio? Review: I wouldn't worry about it if I had a 4:3 (1.33:1) TV, but I'm fortunate enough to own a 16:9 HDTV and having 4:3 content on it is unacceptable. I saw the House of Blues concert in High Definition broadcast over DirecTV in 16:9 and it was absolutely stunning! But the technical information is not available on Amazon for some reason and I will not buy it until then.
Rating: Summary: Make me believe again . . . Review: I saw a pre-release copy of this dvd, and all I can say is WOW! They open with Firebird Suite and a rocking rendition of "Yours is No Disgrace." We get alot of new material from The Ladder and alot of "The Yes Album" material which has been absent from recent Yes tours. For those who actually saw the show, "Hearts" and "Close to the Edge" were edited out, but that's not a problem. This is the best Yes concert to see a video release since 9012Live. It's got more energy than the Keys to Ascension shows, more attention to details than the ABWH DVD, and (finally) songs from "The Yes Album" live. Get it NOW!
