Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I own a few concerts DVD this is one of the best I have!! Excellent show, the sound with DTS and the video was awesome. I have George Benson DTS, Santana DTS and this ranks with the best.
Rating: Summary: A Boring Mess With A Few High Spots Review: I've been a fan of the band for a long time. They have a terrific catalogue and know how to kick it out. However, little of that is on this DVD. There are 14 songs of which 6 would be considered major "hits". Their long time lead singer "JT" Taylor is nowhere to be found. There are 5 cuts of boring unfunky "jazz"-they started as a jazz band. There is 7 minutes of "Can the girls sing louder than the boys?" There is 7 minutes of introducing the 18 member band which is boring the first time. To be current, there is even some bad rap over the closing cut "Celebration". I dumped this turkey after one play. They can do better and so can you elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: BEST CONCERT VIDEO EVER Review: Kool & the Gang Live From House of Blues is 85 minutes of absolute pleasure. Viewing this DVD on average equipment enables one to appreciate the wonder of DVD. The truth is unleashed here of the talent, intelligence and experience involved in Kool & the Gang's 31 year plus career. They seem effortless in unintentionally proving that they are the best band in the world. Their intricate instrumentation, amazing sense of rhythm, beautiful melodies, impressive choreography, professional showmanship, and vocal perfection shows that they have aged to perfection. Anyone still alive who ever mattered to the band's success and sound was on stage, really making this the K&tG all stars or the "superband." They performed their original songs from all periods, from the 60s, 70s, 80s 90s and this Century, all sounding even better than their million selling records. Each bandmember was featured in rare solo form, blending Jazz, Funk, Rock, Ballads, and tasteful Hip-Hop, lightly seasoning the show with all the original ingredients provided by the most sampled band in history. If a potential purchaser has a chance to aquire one music DVD or even one DVD of any kind., Kool & the Gang Live from House of Blues would surely be viewed more times with everyone you know, than any other choice.
Rating: Summary: Kool, still Kool Review: Not being an absolute fan of Kool & the Gang, but being well into the funk and soul of the 70's I can honestly say this DVD got me movin' & groovin', the sheer power of the performances especially with 2 drummers in perfect sync blew me away, to be honest half the tunes I'd never heard of , but what the heck, a brilliant concert with real guts, good sound and excellent rythym & vocals highly recommended!

Rating: Summary: Awesome Jazz-Funk DVD! The Original Kool & The Gang Music! Review: Purchased this DVD and it was exactly what I was looking for. I'm a big fan of the early Kool music. Hollywood Swinging and Jungle Boogie were some of the first 45's I purchased as a kid. I'm a huge fan of the instrumentals and loved that Kool & The Gang, Ohio Players, P-Funk and also Earth Wind & Fire had big horn sections. Loved Summer Madness and Sea of Tranquility. I never cared for the JT era except for Ladies Night and Too Hot. They went too Top 40 for my tastes with the addition of JT Taylor. They didn't need a lead singer, the music was funky enough! So if you're looking for the popular hits with JT on the mic, you'll be disappointed.
They could have left off Celebration and thrown in Rhyme Tyme People and Funky Stuff. Plus a little more Jungle Boogie after the rappers were done would have made this the ultimate DVD. I can't complain though, it was pretty much what I wanted. 5 stars!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as it should be Review: This cd is a let down. I have seen Kool and the Gang live and I expected the same show from this cd, but it wasn't there. For one thing, JT isn't there and neither is Skip, so find another live cd to watch.

Rating: Summary: KOOL AND THE GANG CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES! Review: This DVD is wonderful. The musicians are top notch and the music is spectacular! I would recommend this music concert DVD to anyone that is a fan of Kool and the Gang and even to those who may not know their music!! This band has been at it for years and they haven't lost their touch. This DVD has a combination of music from their early years to more recent years. This is Kool and the Gang at their best. So, why don't you celebrate good times with them and order this dvd. I know I didn't regret it and neither will you!!
Rating: Summary: What a show! Kool and the "guys" get down on it. Review: This is a great concert DVD from start to finish. Missing is former lead vocalist J.T. Taylor, but who needs him. Kool has a replacement that arguably sounds better. In any event, this Kool and his band are even tighter than before, and for some reason sound better than ever. They play effortlessly, and there is no down time. This represents some of the best R&B from the baby boomer generation. The audio is excellent and brings out the horn section in the band. The video is also reference quality. If Kool keeps the same members on this video, I'd pay to go see them today. What a show! Kool and the "Guys" really get down on it on this DVD.
