Rating: Summary: the last filmed performance of Rick Nelson Review: It is so nice that the dvd format allows for some great filmed concerts to be made, this is among them. this is the last filmed concert, I believe of rick nelson. while I am left with the feeling that an whole concert was taped for this event, we are introduced to selected performances by nelson. surely, they could release the whole concert, he just didnt perform for thirty mins or so. I find it hard to believe he performed for that short of time.what we get is selected songs, some of the greatest, and some that should have been included, like it's late.but we get five or so songs by rick, that include, stood up, helloo, mary lou, travelin man,and garden party, among a song that was recently recorded, according to rick, which is 1985,wwhen this concert was filmed. it was new in 1985,but is not new years later. then, we get the lovalable fatman himself performing such greats as blueberry hill, my girl josphine, and i'm walkin. I dont know if the performance is a whole concert or not, but given the leneth, i'm, sure some songs were edited out. all, in all, this is not bad collection. although it does offer disappointing moments that, it would be nice to have a full concert by these two, i just find it is a mix bag to only add a few performances by nelson, that should have warranted a full concert. would it be asking much to say that both performers could have performed a full concert for at least one hour. while i find it lacking, the program runs 45 total mins.the box labels incorrect at 60 mins. is this a disspointment to own? no, by any means it is a histoic event given the fact that rick died that same year, but is truely a one a kind performance, as for domino, he is in fine form, singing as best he could. a tremendous talent, and another few remaing stars alive who was part of the 50's culture. a sure fire good time indeed.
Rating: Summary: A nice surprise Review: Two stars on one DVD! And a DVD that's region free! First we see Ricky Nelson, in concert, just 4 months before his tragic death. Good performance, nice to see him again. All hits are there. And then... there is Fats Domino. We know his DVD from that same concert in Los Angelos from 1985 but on this DVD we see, and hear songs that were not on that DVD and that is a nice surprise. A highlight is a duet with Ricky Nelson, sharing their hit "I'm Walkin'" The Fats Domino band is in a top condition with Dave Bartholomew, Herbert Hardesty and Lee Allen. Great entertainment, going back in time with two legends. Performings are prosessionaly directed in top quality.
