Rating: Summary: There's A Hole In My Bank Account Review: At least, that's what the Eagles are going for.Give me a break, this song is dull and repetitive, the lyrics are weak- "They say that anger is just love disappointed"..huh? I'm sorry, but what makes Don Henley think that anyone cares to hear even more of his political views.. I don't like war or violence anymore than anyone else, but if it weren't for our country standing up in the past, and defending ourselves when necessary, he certainly wouldn't be able to live the type of lifestyle he's accustomed to. Go preach somewhere else.. whatever happened to music taking us to another place? I'm sick of everyone trying to cash in on the devastating events of the last two years. Don't get the wrong idea here, all of this is coming from an actual fan of the Eagles(at least their music). When I heard they had a new song coming out, I was fairly hyped, but then when it turned out to be this sleeper, and the fact that there wasn't a new album of material following it, what a letdown. As I said, I've always liked their stuff, even though they've never been especially exciting, they had some solid material- "Sad Cafe", "Tequila Sunrise", "James Dean", "The Last Resort"(yes, I actually somewhat admired Don's point of view on this one). Hell, I even thought the new songs on "Hell Freezes Over" were worthwhile, especially "Learn To Be Still", what happened? Now, we are supposed to get our wallets out, and pay one more time to hear Henley's point of view, no thanks..
Rating: Summary: Hole Out Of This World Review: For the music of The Eagles, it has been nothing but a huge following, even after their tragic departure in the early 80's. Still, they came back time and time again, not just as singers with solo careers, but also as a group with Hell Freezes Over in 1994. Still, it is kind of sad that they're set to perform their final concert tour together. They just made quite an impact on the music today. Their latest song, Hole In The World, is a very crafty soul driven Rock song. The melody is just absolutely catchy and uplifting, when and where other people take you down from being uplifting. It is just a great song, but also the first and maybe only song the group did as a quartet. Don Felder, a longtime member of the Eagles, departed in 2002. Still, the song is still as potent as ever. I just hope the group can arrange to do one final album for the fans soon.
Rating: Summary: Not as bad as one could imagine, nor as good as their best Review: Here's how the Eagles legacy plays out: Several decent country-pop albums leading up to far-and-away their best title, "Hotel California". They followed that up with the slick, dull and lifeless "The Long Run", and a similarly slick, dull and lifeless live album. And that was that. At least until the mid '90s when they gave us another (much better) live album with four new studio tracks that were neither here nor there. And the touring--the incessent, overpriced touring which amounted to not much more than a human jukebox. Basically, an incessent, overpriced human jukebox. With that legacy, I was less than excited by the prospect of a new Eagles track. Not to mention the fact that a few Eagles had taken dives over the year, so that today's Eagles amount to only a fraction of the original group. Anyway, the question at hand is: Is this single any good? More to the point, is this SONG any good, because you don't get much more than the single and some variants thereon. No one is very generous here with new copyrights. And the answer is: Well, it's better than the stuff on The Long Run, and a bit better than the studio tracks on Hell Freezes Over. Does it justify the years that it took to get a new track from the Eagles? Hardly. If this were the '70s, and the Eagles were still in full flight, this would likely be no more than an album track. But with an aging fan base hungry for whatever they can get, it now qualifies as a single. Lots of perfect harmonies, good production, mediocre tune, good ending. Your basic solid "3 star" track. The video doesn't add much except it allows you to see the guys in "the" studio (some studio, anyway), and a chance--a rare chance--to see Don Henley smile. For Eagles fans only. If you aren't one yet, I can't imagine this is the track to change your mind.
Rating: Summary: hole in the world dvd Review: I bought the hole in the world dvd/cd set. After listening to it I was a little disappointed it wasn't recorded in dts and the snippets of them recording the song and their farewell tour.I had hoped to see more of them. The recording was in BLACK AND WHITE :( . They did not sing the whole song through on the dvd which was also dissapointing. I have to say I love the song it was a nice change for them. You can hear the song on the cd that comes with it.
Rating: Summary: Be Open minded!!!! Review: I do not understand why people hate this song so much. I love all the old Eagles songs like Desperado, Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane, Tequila Sunrise, etc... I don't like the Backstreet Boys and such because they are manufactured by the record companies. However, the Eagles wrote this song because they are trying to embrace trends in the music industry rather than pigeon holing themselves into one category. It is this same attitude which took them from their country roots to rock legend status in the 70s. I love classic rock, it is always my first choice of music to listen to, but I am willing to listen to almost anything, including stuff like Rap and Techno. Only by embracing all musical styles with an open mind does music ever progress. And one more thing, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE EAGLES SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THE WAR!!!!!!!! They opposed the war and this song is about telling us why they did. They are showing their true Patriotism by standing up for what they believe in, and for that they should be praised, not ridiculed. Even if you supported the war, it is wrong of you act so pig-headed towards people who have a different opinion than you. We do not believe this war was in any way a defense of the freedoms we enjoy, it was only an excuse for George Bush to steal a bunch of oil while unneccesarily depleting the Federal Budget for military spending. If you don't agree with us, THATS FINE, but don't tell us we are unpatriotic for disagreeing with you. YOU are unpatriotic if you want everyone to think like you becuase American democracy is about people having different opinions and having the freedom to express those opinions without retribution.

Rating: Summary: The Eagles have given in to the dark side... Review: I never thought that I'd say this about an Eagles song, but "Hole In The World" is an absolutely trite piece of pop music aimed straight at the soul of every bleeding-heart sappy American who's old enough to toddle to a record store and lay out their allowance money on the counter to buy this. It's aimed at a teenage audience, and yet sounds like it was written by four-year-olds. This kind of crap should be left to the now defunct Backstreet Boys or 98 Degrees, not a classic rock dynasty like the Eagles. Rest assured that this will in no way taint songs like "Victim Of Love" or "Desperado" or the rest of their great songs, but though Glenn Frye once sang "Smuggler's Blues", he should have some far greater blues for being a part of this horrid little song.
Rating: Summary: The Eagles Soar Higher Than Ever Review: I'm wondering if there will be a VHS version of this video. I've heard 'Hole in the World' on the radio and I'm totally in love with it. It's the kind of song in this time in the world that everyone needs to hear to ease troubled times. The harmonies are so beautiful. It's soon to be another classic next to "Hotel California" or even better. The instrumentation is a sort of folk-gospel tone. A little different from their earlier works, but it still rocks! The lyrics are just soooo ahhhhhh! (lost for words), There's a hole in the world tonight/there's a cloud in the world of sorrow/don't let there be a cloud in the world tomorrow/ they say that anger is just love disappointed/...yeah, that catchy! Sadly, Don Felder will be missed. Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Tim Schmidt are still in top form. I've always loved their music. And this song has proved my loyalty to the best rock-n-roll band in the 20th and 21th century. Hopefully, it will be on CD sometime soon.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for the new album! Review: Saw the show, wanted the music. DVD gives the video, and a "behind the scenes" on tour. The behind the scenes stuff is funny, but left me wanting MORE Eagles!
Rating: Summary: Hole belongs in a deep hole. Review: Some of the bad lyrics: How can people be so blind? - Like who? YOURSELF!! Fussing and fighting over who will be annointed-people are not fussing and fighting, they are being blown apart and dying!! If you want to roll over and give up everything our people have fought and died for, GO AHEAD! Donate all you've got to the peace lovers and I'll move into your house and take over your family. I'm all for peace, but this weak-minded garbage sounds like bending over and liking it. So are you saying you dont care who the leader of the free/not free world is? Well heck, run this tune over and over around the globe and convince everybody it doesn't matter, then just give the world to me! Thanks.
