Summary: Iron Maiden do it again (just)
Review: I managed to get this DVD on import and was excitied as I am an avid Iron Maiden fan. After watching it through I must say that I thouroughly enjoyed it.

The sound isn't great due to Bruces voice being really quiet on the surround sound setting, which no amount of tweaking seems to rectify. On the Stereo setting, Bruce is much more audiable but Janick Gers guitar almost dissapears!

The magic tricks in between the songs are OK if you like that sort of thing, but with no way to block them out other than fast forwarding through that part of the chapter, they can get quite annoying.

All in all, this is good Iron Maiden performance, and the last with Bruce Dickingson until his return to the Helm in 2000.

Summary: A little cool, a little lame
Review: I saw Maiden a few times in the 80's, and I can honestly say that this concert is nothing like Maiden in the 80's. Adrian is terribly missed here. This Janick character just doesn't sound right and his timing is a bit off. Not to mention, he hops around like he's in Def Leppard or something. The sound absolutely sucks. I will admit though, I'm about half-way through the DVD right now, and the energy is picking up a bit. Definitely pales to any performances you may have seen in the 80's, but hey, it's Maiden on DVD. I think it's worth the money for that reason alone. It doesn't suck, it's just not nearly as good as a Maiden show can be. If anyone reading this saw Iron Maiden between 83 and 87, you'll understand what I'm saying. Also, now you can blame Maiden for those stupid Fox Magic shows. I think this is where they got the idea. Really lame decision for the Maiden boys to go with this stupid idea.

Summary: Great the first time.
Review: I saw this video the first time and I loved it. Simon Drake is actually an excellent magician, some of the stuff is corny, but its meant to be that way, because its funny. However seeing maiden play then seeing drake perform tricks doesnt quite fit, so I think that is one reason why alot of people dislike Simon, really its the God's honest truth. After watching the video the first few times I enjoyed watching him perform along in the video, but about after the 3rd, I got sick of it, and ended up fast fowarding it, it was just a combination that didnt work, now seeing this live at that time would have been killer though.

Now for the maiden boys, I know in a sense this had to be sad for them because it was the last show with Bruce, even though their facial expressions say otherwise, all acting happy and excited, and you'd really have to be to play maiden music anyway. Each member does a fine job though really, Bruce sings and gives what he has left, being his last vocal performance I thought he did one hell of a job, since he was already with the band for 12 years, it had to be hard just to leave like that. But he wanted to do his own thing and everything, and he did well at the time. Steve pounds his bass away and does a perfect job, my opinion as a percussionist I think he is the most extraordinary bassist in the world period, just watch him play. No matter what kind of mood he is in, he will always play perfectly. Dave is in top form, and dreds the hell out of the guitar, but his guitar was much louder then Gers, still did a hell of a job. Nicko as always does amazing with the drums, pounds them away, and doesnt hold a grudge one bit. Now for Gers, I love Gers and will always defend him for being considered a horrible guitarist or even not very good, he is awesome really, but this was definitely his worse playing. He does an ok job to count, some songs he does great with: Trooper, Eternity, Hallowed, Heaven, Evil and a few others. But songs like Be quick or be dead, Bring your daughter to the slaughter and fear of the dark, his solos could have been better like they usually are. He can jump around when playing, but he overdoes it a bit on this vid and doesnt play these solos that great, his guitar also needed to be on the same level as Murray. Like I said it is exceptable and he doesnt normally play this bad, really he doesnt, I just think he took it hard when Bruce left too.

The vid is good though and every maiden fan should add it to their collection, I think the departure of Bruce could've been better, more real then fake, I thought it was cool how they took him to an Iron Maiden and decapitaed him, but I still thought it wouldve been even better if it had a more realistic departure for the greatest band ever, but im glad hes back with them. UP THE IRONS!!!

Summary: A Good Show
Review: I too am a big fan of Maiden from the early days (Iron Maiden and Killers are my favorites). However, I rated this DVD from a neutral perspective. I thought the concert part of this video was truly outstanding (and agree with what many reviewers have said about the quality of the show), but I took off 1 star for Simon's magic and 1 star for the below average audio/mix quality. As with other reviewers, I had the same effect with the 5.1 setting (very low Bruce vocals) then switched to Stereo and Bruce sounded great, but the guitars virtually dissapeared.

Therefore, I honestly gave this a SOLID 3 Star rating. I would have given it 4 stars if there were some way to automatically bypass ALL of Simons magic with a single setting or option from the main menu - like "play concert only".

Summary: Excitement over Maiden DVD turns to disappointment...
Review: I wasn't really a fan of this show even when it was on VHS - the fake studio setting just never seemed right. And the song selection is debatable, although there are some good surprises ("Transylvania", f'rinstance). Anyway, I figured I had to get the DVD just because it would be cool to have a Maiden DVD. Not a great move, it turns out.

The one positive thing I can say is that the picture quality is impressive. This thing looks cool. But then you have to listen to it, and it falls apart. Whoever did the mix should be embarassed. This was the first concert in 5.1 that I've purchased, and it about turned me off to any future purchases. Horrible, muddy sound with Bruce's vocals buried waaaayyy back. The stereo mix is fair. But why buy a DVD to have a regular stereo mix? Well, it gets two stars just because it's Iron Maiden, but this release doesn't deserve to have the Maiden name on it.

Summary: Maiden is amazing, love Janick's guitar playing.Buy it NOW!!
Review: If your a big Iron maiden fan like i am, this is great to add to your Maiden collection. The first time i watched it i was blown away, i couldn't take mt eyes off it and i still feel like that every time i watch it.I just can't get enough of it, it's just wild.

And i hear all this [stuff] that people say about this dvd and my only response is, if you don't like it, your not the Maiden fan you say you are....I think Janicks the best thing that happened to Maiden and he's much more exciting to watch live with his antics and amazing flash guitar playing then Adrian smith is.Adrian is just to dull of a guitarist for me.

And finally, the Simon Drake illusions are not bad. Some are a bit cheesy but there a few good ones for ex:When Maiden in the middle of playing "from here to eternity",Drake's henchmen drag dave murray off the Maiden stage and cuts off Murray's hands just in time for Drake to hold them up to Daves guitar for the solo.It just adds more to the Maiden frenzie.

So if your a hardcore Maiden fan and not some of ... fans.Get this amazing Iron Maiden concert and see Bruce Dickinson sign off in his last performance with the band atleast for the rest of the 90's.Until he returns in 2000 but thats a whole nother review...

Summary: Nothing like Living after Death
Review: In a few words, the concert wasn't that bad, however the audio was terrible. I had a hard time trying to listen Bruce Dickinson voice. I agreed with most reviewers, if you are looking to a concert close to Living after death, you are looking in the wrong place.

However if you are big Iron Maiden fan. This is a DVD you probably would like for your collection.

Summary: Great performance but poor sound quallity!
Review: It was a great idea..let Iron Maiden do their show and let Simon Drake take care of the rest! The result is indeed a great performance by Iron Maiden and the illusions of Simon Drake are also good, good with a little humor but not great. The only bad thing on this DVD is the sound quallity! It will take ten songs to get a good sound! By the start of The Number Of The Beast the sound is finally dolby 5.1 But before that it's sad. I had to put the center speaker wide open to hear Bruce sing! The show itself is what we can ecspect from Iron Maiden.Good solide and again with a lot of humor by Bruce and Nico. The setlist is great! They even play Transylvania! And because this was supposed to be Bruce's last performance with the band ( at this time he has already returned ), this DVD is worth to buy!

Summary: I must agree with the others
Review: My fiancee bought this for me for Christmas last year because she knows what a huge fan I am of these guys since '84. I saw this tour in the States (Fear of the Dark) & it was absolutely AWESOME (my only front row show)! However, I must say that when I heard the live albums that were released from this tour (A Real Live One & A Real Dead One, dead being the key word; now known as A Real Live Dead One), I was stunned at how SLOPPY the band was playing. Harris is known for being a perfectionist & it's beyond me how he let this dvd or those discs get released with some of the performances being as they are. For Maiden, who are renowned for being such a tight group, this is pretty bad! 1)the mix/sound is awful for dvd, 2)the band isn't playing up to par. If you watched this muted, you would think they were putting on a heck of a show, but once you hear it, it's over. Thumbs down to the band for releasing this horrid thing instead of a 5.1 dvd version of "Live After Death" which would be amazing & DEFINITELY SHOULD BE DONE IN THE NEAR FUTURE!! My poor lady feels bad that she picked this & that I was disappointed, but it surely isn't her fault. Guys, we know what you're normally capable of & it's a lot better than this! The Wolf

Summary: Where's the ...-Raising Sound?
Review: My goodness. I thought was struck gold when I saw this DVD for such a low price, and the playlist was quite impressive. But, as other reviewers have stated: the sound quality is terrible. So bad, I wonder if they made a mistake during the transfer. Remastered, yea right. Dolby 5.1, yea right. I think I'm gonna write to BMG special products division to complain. Even for $... bucks, we should at least get a decent stereo PCM sountrack. The rest of the DVD is unwatchable due to the terrible audio.
