Rating: Summary: Siouxsie looks great - vocally another story Review: I have to say that I've loved this band since the beginning, and would probably buy a recording of Siouxsie reading a telephone directory. On the plus side, this DVD is first-rate as far as the production quality goes. The music sounds incredible and the visuals are always interesting. Siouxsie Sioux is still a very beautiful woman, and she moves like a cat onstage. I had to give this DVD four stars, rather than five because of the vocals. Her voice still has the same penetrating timbre as always, but she sings wildly offkey on most songs. Still, it has to be noted that any Siouxsie is better than no Siouxsie. I hope that one day her voice returns to it's former glory.
Rating: Summary: Supreme Siouxsie!! Review: I must admit I watched the 7YI DVD expecting to see a great show captured on film of this legendary band based on other reviews I had read. What I witnessed was an amazing show full of action, glamour, and suspense. This DVD is a must as it captures the supreme musicianship of the Banshees from the beginning with 'Pure' and an onslaught of Sioux's soaring octave wail to the more playful touch of 'Peek-a-boo'.
Rating: Summary: Siouxsie and the banshees are bloody BRILLIANT! Review: I received this as a gift and could barely keep from running home to put this in my DVD player immediately. Siouxsie is still amazing, Budgie is a great talent and Steve Severin still weaves his amazing basslines as convincingly as he ever did.Siouxsie's voice is a good deal deeper 25 years later, but she rips through some of the most brilliant and bizzare songs ever created. METAL POSTCARD still gives me chills as does ICON. NIGHT SHIFT, VOODOO DOLLY and MONITOR...well...I'm personally partial to JuJu, but if you know the songs you'll be grinning ear to ear by the end of the show. Budgie's mini tour backstage was humorous, and he's extremely engaging, but I wanted more. Buy the CD if you're a fan, you won't be disappointed. Then dig out your videocassette of Nocturne and pray they release that and all the Banshees videos on DVD next.

Rating: Summary: DVD worst show on whole tour Review: I saw every U.S. show except D.C. Siouxsie sounded powerful clear and on key during most of the U.S. shows, Ney York & Chicago being the best. ( she even beat up a security guard in Chicago!) The performance they used for the DVD sounded worse than any of the shows that I saw. Although some shows were better than others the U.S. leg of the tour was great! I have also seen a bootleg from the sonic festival in Japan. It is a better show as well!
Rating: Summary: DVD worst show on whole tour Review: i saw the reunion concert in chicago, and loved it,sioux 's voice sounds more mature and deep, and creates a more mournful sound to their classics,,,,,i just bloody loved the whole concert,,,she has a commanding stage presence ,and prowls the stage like a tigress on the hunt..budgie and severin were great too,,the band has gotten better tru the years,,forget about madonna, britney and those untalented pigs,,siouxsie rules.....................
Rating: Summary: A sad end to a great career Review: I think people who defend the off-key vocals by saying "they're punks, after all" are missing the point. Siouxsie and the Banshees transcended the musical limitations of punk early in their career - which means most of these songs demand note-for-note accuracy from the singer (where Clash songs, for instance, don't), and unfortunately Siouxsie was far from able to do them justice. Fans will know that her voice has been deteriorating since 1991 -use of steroids and other dubious quick-fixes being a major factor in this (the biography confirms this). On this evidence, she hit rock-bottom on the Seven Year Itch tour. I found this to be a deeply depressing viewing experience. Yes, she still looks fantastic, but she sounds like a burnt-out fuse (so to speak!). Morbid curiosity will be the only reason anyone buys this - who really needs to hear songs as great as `Land's End', `Nightshift' and `Cities In Dust' being murdered?
Rating: Summary: Selma Diamond & the Banshees Review: I've been a fan since Hong Kong Garden and I have to say the band does sound great on this dvd,but too many late nights and cigarettes have pretty much killed the vocal range of Siouxsie Sioux unfortunately. She just can't hit the high notes she once could. But it was great to hear the opening of the Scream LP (cd) once more as the opening of the show. I think this is worth buying just to see them in a recent light. I'd buy a new CD if they're gonna put new stuff out doing songs in a lower vocal range for S.S.,she can still pull it off with her voice as it is.It's just rough to do what she did 20 - 25 yrs ago now.
Rating: Summary: ahhh but for the grace of siouxsie and the band Review: ive given this dvd 4 stars only because sioux's vocals are very strained. i dont know if she is aware that by pushing her voice out and relying on bad habits, produces poor vocal production and flat notes. it tires the voice. im here to tell you that even siouxsie, singing the genre she sings would retain every bit of her uniqueness and in fact gain tremendous flexibility and range if she'd get some vocal rehab. having said all that, i must agree with another reviewer who found this dvd far better than the cd alone. one really does need to see this to complete the circle, if you will. the film ing of this show as well as the editing are brilliant. nods to the lighting person as well. this is an enigmatic show. would we expect anything less? she is stunning and in good shape. the pin stripe suit is an obvious reflection of siouxs fashion sense coupled with her pheonom coif. its like the good old sioux updated. the band is equally excellent. the camera work gives the viewer and intimate, austere closeup of everyone. so many times these events dont capture the essence of all performers, but in this case its all there. very interesting song choices. lots of older stuff. highlights for me are, 'pure/jigsaw feel- ing, metal postcard, red light, i could be again, night shift and the epic...VOODOO DOLLY! siouxs at her feverish best here. all in all, given the many years that have passed since many of these songs were originally recorded, the band is sharp and very saavy. in a class all their own, leagues above much of the cr-p that the music machine is spewing forth these days. no wonder younger people are looking back in time for inspira tion from music sorely needed today.
Rating: Summary: A punk must-have Review: My first impression of this DVD was, honestly, not a totally positive one. Being a huge fan of the band I was happy to be able to watch their last tour but the first couple of songs I skipped to (Spellbound and Peekaboo) just didn't sound right. I realized on Spellbound she must be singing off-key, and though it didnt' really sound BAD it was disturbing in some way. As I watched the other songs I was completely blown away. Unlike most bands Siouxsie and the Banshees went back to their youngest time on this tour, truly pumping out the punk with their most obscure and dark songs. Siouxsie does sing off-key, but she obviously does it on purpose to fuse the song with angst in old-school fashion. None of the songs sound bad in my opinion, and some sound better than ever on this tour. My personal favorite is Voodoo Dolly, as Siouxsie practically becomes the song and belts out the wailing agony like no other singer ever could. Peekaboo seemed very out of place on this DVD and felt awkward when I saw it. I reccomend this to any fan of Siouxsie's darker stuff and old-school punk. If you only like their singles or are not familiar with the obscure songs on the disc it might be better to leave this one alone.
