Summary: how it was....
Review: this dvd captures the way it really was. not everything was perfect all the time. this is not a high-tech video, but it does give a true representation of the tour that happened 23 years ago. this is a must for todd/utopia fans. my only negative is : where is bolero? (not on this dvd.)

Summary: Average Performance
Review: This DVD doesn't do justice to Todd or Utopia. Though it has it's moments, this performance is sub-par compared to all the Todd/Utopia shows I have seen over the years. Slightly stiff performance with some technical problems(Todd's microphone doesn't work at the beginning of Love Is The Answer). I think this would only appeal to Todd collectors.

Summary: Take a few of these... The Sweeter Memories.
Review: Yes, the video quality is poor, the sound is not great, Todd was having a hard time keeping his guitar in tune... but this video shows Utopia at their peak. While the sound and video are nowhere near as good as the Todd Live in Japan DVD, this is the only DVD available that captures the feeling of a Utopia concert circa 1980. If you turn down the lights and light up a ..., this DVD will take you back in time. In 1980, I drove from Boston to Saratoga, NY to see Todd during this tour on his birthday. And as I recall, the sound was lousy but we still had a great time. This DVD is a must for devoted long-time Todd fans. However, if you are a more recent fan, you should pass on this DVD and pick up Todd Rundgren Live in Japan.

I found it interesting to see Todd in 1980 (at age 32) and Todd today, at age 55, back to back. He's put on a few pounds and looks older, for sure. But if you've seen the Live in San Francisco DVD, you know that he still sings and plays great.
