Rating: Summary: Madonna gives the best Performances Review: The Who's That Girl World Tour starts off in the best way of any madonna concert yet.Behind a screen,Madonna poses as a light throws her shadow onto the screen. Although the first song,Open Your Heart, isn't the biggest dance number she has kicked her shows off with, she still has a wonderful stage presence that she perfects with this concert before eventually creating a masterpiece(Blonde Ambition).
People can criticize Madonna's performance, but what other artist puts this much effort into a live concert to give to their fans?
Madonna does not use any bad language or act inappropriate here. She is very family oriented in this performance.Skimpy outfits, but definetly PG on this one.
Her voice is pretty good, but she does sound a little strained on a few songs(but not as bad as many other artists I have seen live).Likely because of using her voice during this tour but overall a very good early performance.Definetly worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: Before Madonna perspired, she sweated! Review: After having read a few of the reviews here -- of course the choreography is rough and the costumes are trashy -- she had just gone from having a few successful hits to becoming a major international act. But, remember, this show is before she became a household name (in the famous or infamous sense!) due to the high profile films, banned videos and that what-was-she-thinking-sex-book.I like this show because she is working her rear end off to energize the crowd. And I think she succeeds wildly. There are some questionable material choices ("White Heat" for one), some strained vocals (especially "Live to Tell"), and her costume designer should be blacklisted forever, but remember the time and place and just enjoy the energy of Madonna and the crowd. As for the DVD - nothing special in terms of packaging (we expect more, thank you very much) and the sound is definitely not remastered. However, if you are an admirer of Madonna, this DVD is a good snapshot in time of her rise to fame.
Rating: Summary: I'd give it 4 1/2 stars Review: As a really, really, really, really big major fan of Madonna's, I totally enjoyed this movie. However there was some semi boring parts of it. THe dancing is spectacular and i think the singing was pretty good. While this certainly isn't madonna's best tour (Blond Ambition, Girly Show) she delievers an unforgetable performance.A must buy for big Maddy fans like myself.
Rating: Summary: Good show Madge Review: Being a big Madonna fan, I was pleased with her performance during this tour back in 1987. The costumes however are tacky and tasteless but the choice of songs as I am sure any Big Madonna fan would agree are Excellent. M clearly is not frightened to perform live and this does show in certain tracks such as " Live To Tell " and "Whos that Girl" but I recommend that this be a good investment!
Rating: Summary: A must have for every Madonna collection. Review: Ciao Italia is a must have. This is by far my favorite Madonna Concert--next to the Drowned World Tour of 2001. Her vocals were good, the songs picked were a perfect representation of her True Blue era and a nice mix of earlier songs as well. Not to mention it looked like she was having a genuinely amazing time on stage performing. Sure, her hair is gross--and her outfits are even worse--but this is truly a fun concert to watch and look back reflecting on how far the Material Girl has come in her career. FUN FUN FUN!!
Rating: Summary: Not Bad...for the 1980's I guess... Review: Even I'll admit, Madonna was at the peak of her career during the 'True Blue' era. This concert is a shear reflection of it - singing all of her current hits at the time. Although I'm not a fan of the somewhat bad 80's style going on during the concert - it's still a respectable concert... If you want ONE great Madonna concert on DVD - I'd go for the Girlie Show - but if you're a Madonna Collector, than this DVD must be in your collection.

Rating: Summary: Disappointing Performance Review: I am a big fan of Madonna, and I love her 80s music , but I feel that this performance is disappointing. The costumes are tacky, although the one she wears for the Dress You Up/Material Girl/Like a Virgin made me laugh. (At least she doesn't take herself too seriously!) Her singing is the worst that I've ever heard from her. It sounds like she's trying to force her voice or something. I felt uncomfortable listening to her, especially in the ballads. However, what is most disappointing is the choreography. Anybody who has seen later performances in Blond Ambition or the Girlie Show will be shocked at how little choreography is in this show. This is a pity seeing as how her dancing is the most appealing aspect of her shows in my opinion. In summary, unless you are a hardcore Madonna fan, this video/DVD is not worth buying. Go for a later tour like the Girlie Show...you'll be much happier with your purchace!
Rating: Summary: Not one of Madonna's greatest performances. Review: I am a Madonna fan and so no matter how she looks or what she wears or even how she sings on stage will not take away from me being one of her biggest fans. Madonna gives a good performance in that she is very energetic and performs most of her greatest songs ever. After viewing Madonna during her Virgin Tour and being blown away at how pretty she looked and her fresh feminine look during the early part of her career, it was disappointing to see Madonna for this show from the Who's that Girl Tour. Madonna in my opinion didn't look her best. Madonna's face was pretty but her outfits and hair left much to be desired. The costumes Madonna wore for this show were of rather poor taste and downright UGLY! Her Marylyn Monroe hairdo didn't do much for her as it just looked sloppy and deteriorated as the show progressed. Apart from that, the choreography was very shabby, especially in Papa Don't Preach. Another drawback of this performance is that the show is too long. Sitting for almost two hours watching Madonna on stage wearing tacky and atrocious costumes and seeing her dance to horrible choreography gets to be unbarable. This is an OK video to see for the first time around, but not something you would want too see over again. See Madonna in her spectacular Girlie and Drowned World Tours and even tune in to Truth or Dare to catch glimpses of Madonna's performance for the fantastic Blond Ambition Tour, a definite must see!
Rating: Summary: This tour is already my favorite! Review: I can't completely say 'Ok, this is Madonna's best tour ever!', because of one tiny reason: i didn't watch all of them (besides this 'Who's That Girl? Tour', i've only watched 'DWT', and 'Blond Ambition Tour'). Eventually, i'll sit and watch all of her tours. Especially after watching a fresh, funny, adorable, and soulful Madonna that i've missed, due to my young age of six. But, from now, i can honestly say that Madonna did her best on that stage! She definately captivated the crowd with a smart combination of deep x light performances such as 'Live to Tell' and 'The Look of Love'; and a goofy medley "Dress You Up'/Material Girl/Like A virgin'. The songs with non-stop dancing (like 'Into The Groove', and Holiday') are genuine and expressive, and it starts to show some classic Madonna moves. The most undeniable thing though, is her sweetness: in a remarkable moment of crowd-artist bounding, she asked for a comb (because her hair was wet and messy, 'Cherish-like), and then, about 10 combs flew towards her! Everybody (including the dancers) enjoyed it, and she couldn't stop laughing. On a last note, i say: the video shows an innocent and yet, daring Madonna that we all know love. In fact, it's a great reminder to those who thinks she's over.
