Rating: Summary: A great concert. Review: It is a good DVD. It was more better because of the little guitar part in the song "Hurricane 2000." It wasn't as good as Acoustica but it was really close. It's cool how the Scorpions thought of a remix with the orchestra in the year of the millenium. I recommend this for people who heard the album and want to see them play the songs live.
Rating: Summary: Another awesome DVD-Video concert Review: It's amazing to see some of the older rock bands (Scorpions, Styx, REO, Eagles, Yes) being caught live on DVD. Most of these performances are recent, and the sound and video are great. One of these great performances is the Scorpions "Moment of Glory". Klaus Meine's vocals are spectacular, and the combination of the Berlin Philharmonic and Mathias' and Rudolph's guitar playing is one of a kind. The sound of this DVD makes it seem like you are really there, and the video taping is very professional. I hope that more great musicians see the benefit of making their performances accessible via DVD, it makes owning a home theater worth it!
Rating: Summary: This is the best DVD i have ever watched! Review: musically it's on the top! i can't imagine better than this performance! the best philharmonic orchestra in the world playing live with the best rock band in the world!!! wow! amazing!... they're all great! matthias solos and rudy's rhythms rule! klaus is the best vocalist! his voice is so divine! and i was really impressed by James Kottak on drums! it's really amazing to see how this drummer plays! he stands up, jumps, sings, makes crazy variations and fill-ins, and he plays with so much power on the drums! also, the scorps behavior on stage is excellent! they really rock, and know how to be respectful at the same time! the group of kids on backing vocals is so cute! and the backing vocalists also! lyn liechty and ray wilson really rule!!! and i was so glad so hear we'll burn the sky and u&i with and orchestra, and they're awesome! i was also sooooo amazed when i saw Christian Kolonovits! he's in my opinion the only conductor who lives both worlds of music (rock and classical)! and he's the one who made all the arrangement! this guy rules!... and the picture and sound quality of the DVD are excellent!!! also, about the special features. they're so good! that's the way i like video clips: to watch the musicians performing, not to see images an shots from things that have no relation with the music!!! enjoy! JP
Rating: Summary: After 30 years, times change, and so should the fans. Review: Scorpions have been around for over 30 years and as music tastes change in today's youth, so must Scorpions market the newer generation by changing as well. Their albums seem to diversify each time. So, with an open mind, I still enjoy every album. Even "Moment of Glory" is an interesting combination of classical music and rock. Watching the video gave me a greater appreciation of the album by seeing how impressive organizing such a project must have been. The selection of songs were good, choosing their most popular songs as well as songs from their very early albums. Since the video is a live concert and the "Moment of Glory" CD is a studio album, you will hear essentially different versions of the songs, even some songs not found on the CD. I was pleasantly surprised. Watching the classical musicians play is noteworthy and the lead guitar by Matthias is always impressive. And for Klaus, after 3 decades of incredible vocal range and harmonies, his voice is even better than ever. I recommend this video. I do have one little complaint. Why the #$*@%@! do they have anyone else sing other than Klaus is beyond me. The guy from Geneis singing "Big City Nights"? why, oh why, did they do that? Trying to outshine Klaus is suicide.
Rating: Summary: For the paycheck Review: SCORPIONS is working for the paycheck here, as a lot of old bands. Making a record with an orchestra is the previous necessary step for releasing an acustic record (what SCORPINS did!!!). No surprise...When new ideas are hard to come to the minds of old brilliant musicians like SCORPIONS, they need to release some sort of compilation...After all, they have bills to pay like all of us!
Rating: Summary: Scorpions Mature With Style Review: Sure they are older, but the lyrics of their newer albums are deeper. They have not lost any of their edge! They are veterans and still harness the true grace of Rock at its finest. This DVD is awesome! It contains enough of my youth and memory of the Scorps, while adding something stylish and tasteful for my children. I have matured right along with these guys, and am enjoying every muscial step they make. Klaus still has a voice that other Rock singers can only dream of having! It will truly rock you like a hurricane!
Rating: Summary: Rocking Orchestra! Review: The combination of Scorpions live with the Berlin Orchestra is incredible - not to be missed!! It's an awesome collaboration of rock and symphonic talent - a true gift for Scorpion fans! (I was awed that apparently the German "way" is to sit quietly in your seat while literally having your socks rocked off - I would never have the patience and control for that in this concert).
Rating: Summary: A different show Review: The most difficul is to marry rock and classical music together.Rudolf, and the other guys make it sound perfect.klaus was exellent, Mattias, Ralph and James, very powerful and with a lot of feelling.A different show for all of ages, and with memories from the seventies and eighties!!!
