Summary: The Best
Review: A must have for a true fan and even a new comer. The video explains just what they had to endure through out their rock and roll careers. The video was very well directed and produced. It makes you realize that the members of Kiss are just like you and I. They showed us with will and desire you to can accomplish your dreams.

Summary: The original Kiss, with a little extra weight
Review: Although you will find 3 or 4 songs here, this dvd is mostly about the process developed for the reunion tour, just after the original Kiss played the Unplugged concert. From rehearsals to costume fitting, to traveling and touring, this DVD is a great documentary on the return of the once great KISS. Although I still love their music, their merchantilism seems to know no boundaries [Kiss Kasket, anyone?] and has made me step away from them over the years, in favor of real muscicians. Still, if you were a kid or teen in the 70's, you will relive those great times of makeup and rock & roll, now with a few extra pounds.

Summary: Yet another cash-in, but why this?
Review: An overly long documentary on the reunion tour of '96-'97. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Kiss fan, but this is just silly. At 122 minutes, there is precious little actual concert footage here, and no live segment lasts more than a few seconds. Unlike the early 90's "X-Treme Close Up" video which was somewhat of a documentary/narrative, this one doesn't even bother including whole songs, videos, or live performances. It's just an endless stream of Matt Pinfield's narration and the guys in the band talking about stuff that you don't really care about after 20 minutes. Diehards will probably get into it's excruciating detail, but if the band wanted a cash-in video from the tour, why this garbage and not a whole concert video? The three live "bonus" videos are a mixed bag, the "Shout It Out Loud" video you've seen a bunch of times already probably, the "Shandi" video is a one-camera amateur job with mediocre sound (although a very unique Paul solo performance) and "Detroit Rock City" from the movie premier is decent, but it's scaled down from the normal Kiss stageshow.

Summary: Great history video, were's the music?
Review: Another must for any rock and roll fan. All the reviews are great but us true KISS fans who like the music as well as the visuals need a compilation of there actual music videos or a full lenghth concert video. I have all the old KISS videos and the music comes across well on T.V. and with my surround sound it almost feels like your actuaaly at one of thier concerts. Well almost. Nothing beats thier live show and I've been seeing them live since the L.A. Forum shows in 1977.

Review: Any KISS video release is a good one (except 1987's "eXposed"). This DVD is a mostly a document of their Reunion Tour and what went in to creating and touring it. By the time this video hit the stores, things were back to being uneasy in the band again, with Criss and Frehley both to get kicked to the curb again. But the backstage footage is kind of interesting, as is the footage of all the prep work for the tour. You'll see footage of Pete and Gene trying on their old '70s costumes in Gene's house. Take a good look at Gene's house. Hardly looks like what you'd expect a Rock and Roll star's home to look like, does it?
A lot of KISS fans have moaned about the dearth of concert footage in this video, but KISS likes to play it close to the vest with that. We're STILL waiting for ALIVE 4, which I doubt will EVER get released. But maybe someday, when the Gene and Paul are old(er) and gray(er), we'll see ALIVE 4 hit the streets with a long-form concert video, which by that time will be a nostalgia piece.

Summary: Not worth it
Review: As a 20+ year KISS fan, I was very interested to see what they had come up with for their newest DVD. After watching this two hour documentary, I was quite disappointed. The picture quality during the first hour is very poor, and the documentary rambles on with no particular theme. The band constantly displays their larger than life egos, and the numerous scenes showing footage of girls baring their breasts at concerts seems awfully tacky to show over and over again. The lack of uninterrupted concert footage, other than the three songs at the end, was disappointing. After you watch this video once, it is unlikely you will ever want to view it again.

Review: Blinding-fast edition, absolutely no concert footage, audio interviews with band member only.. man, this is a mess of a DVD taht will give you no pleasure at all, even being a KISS fanatic.

Summary: A CRACKING good night at the VCR!
Review: Everything else being said is the truth. If you've enjoyed this band for a long time, you will have FUN FUN FUN seeing them go through all their paces in this video! The home videos are unusual and GREAT. I was a little reserved about spending the $$$ on this, but it's genuinely worth it if you like KISS at all. Packed with hoots from start to finish, and you just can't get this stuff anywhere else. I only wish they'd have let us see longer cuts of some of the musical performances. Almost every song passes by in 10 seconds or less. Still, it would have taken 10 hours to do this instead of 2. LOTS AN' LOTS O' FUN!!!
