Rating: Summary: Pre-Superstar R.E.M. Must! Review: A very enjoyable video from the last show of their "Green Tour" in '89. Black and white format doesn't detract at all from quality close-up shots and some "home movie" effects. The band is in A-1 form, and though Stipe is slightly hoarse after a long tour, he delivers well. A must video for any REM fan, and the only reason I don't give it five stars is the camera's tendencies to jerk and pan to quickly at times from shot to shot. Sound quality is excellent.

Rating: Summary: Can't be bad because my hand appears in this tape! Review: And my hand is great!! I use it all the time for all kinds of things!
First, this was a great concert. Camped for tickets at the mall in Raleigh. Drove to Greensboro (North Carolina) from Smithfield to see them live. I was there, in the row right before the camera. After the music started we all stood up in our chairs. The camera was high, but not high enough to miss my hand in a few frames. RA!
Anyway, this is a great film, because the concert was great! Needless to say, I got a copy of this as soon as it came out. It continues to be a great concert film and of course, a valuble momento of the Green tour! Highly recommended for anyone who's a fan!
Rating: Summary: Great performance and great visuals. Review: First off, here's the setlist...Stand The One I Love These Days Turn You Inside-Out World Leader Pretend Feeling Gravitys Pull I Believe I Remember California Get Up It's The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) Pop Song 89 Fall On Me You Are The Everything Begin The Begin King of Birds Finest Worksong Perfect Circle This is a great document of the Green tour for a seasoned R.E.M. fan. A lot of the film is shot in black and white, which really adds a lot to the feel of it. The color shots are saved for some of the best moments of the film like "You Are The Everything". There are some things about the film that may be off-putting, like Stipe's somewhat eccentric behavior or his atrocious haircut and the editing in some parts of the film, but these things obviously have no bearing on the excellent performance contained therein and the film is really great overall. One of best aspects of the film is probably Stipe's level of energy as he bounces and shimmies all over the stage like a 6 year old on a sugar high. There are really superb versions of "You Are The Everything", "Perfect Circle", "King of Birds", "Fall On Me", "These Days", "World Leader Pretend" and "I Believe" in this footage. There are lots of cool pieces of film projected behind the band just as they did later on the Monster tour.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I first watched the VHS version back in 1991 and didn't want to give it back! It is a great home version of a concert...if you are an old R.E.M. fan, definitely get Tourfilm and enjoy! There aren't any DVD "perks" on it, which was a disappointment, but the concert itself was true R.E.M.-AWESOME!
Rating: Summary: It'll Turn You Inside-Out Review: I got this movie over the weekend. I love it. It's R.E.M. in top form. You just feel the songs coming powerfully at you with Stipe's vocals, Mills' bass, Buck's guitar, and Berry's drums. I've loved R.E.M. since I can remember and this video captures their Green-Era style to perfection. I love Stipe's outfit and the waist-length braid and the racoon eyes are a nice touch. I would recommend anyone interested in R.E.M. to get this video, it's awesome and I give it five stars.
Rating: Summary: Green Crush Review: If music was a drug, R.E.M. would be pure Xtasy! Tourfilm is one of the coolest documentaries I've ever seen, with Michael running around with a french braid, raccoon eyes and a megaphone and doing his crazy little dances. The crowd is loving it, Bill and Mike and Peter are loving it, and you know Michael's got to be loving it the way he's going on. It's got really great songs, mainstream hits and "obscure" (If you're not a fan) songs, and the lights are really cool. You gotta see this thing.

Rating: Summary: That Better Not Be Styrofoam, Pal! Review: R.E.M. has put together two very good concert films with the best being Tourfilm, which chronicles its 1989 world tour for its breakout CD, Green. The songs in the film are primarily from its third through sixth studio albums (Fables, Life's Rich Pageant, Document and Green), which was when the band was starting to make its impact on mainstream America. I have the VHS version of the show, but the sound is very good anyway and the band puts on a pretty good show. Michael Stipe is very eccentric in this video (the heading of my review is a quote from Stipe in the video, which shows that he was "out there"). But he still is in pretty good voice, as is Mike Mills who is very prominent in backing vocals. This concert film ranks a little ahead of its second film, Road Movie, which came from the 1995 Monster tour, as the song choices on Tourfilm have better stood the test of time compared to those from Monster, which is R.E.M.' weakest CD release. A must!
