Summary: Great Concert, but if you have the VHS, don't bother
Review: Let me start my review by stating that I love Oingo Boingo. I think they are the greatest band ever! I have been a fan since 1978 (the Mystic Knight days) and have seen them at least 60 times live, as a matter of fact I went to all 5 nights of the farewell tour including the Halloween night show, this DVD, look for me in the pit!

Review of the DVD, not the content (the content is amazing!):

Shame on me to ever say anything bad but this DVD was a big disappointment to me, BECAUSE I own the VHS version, which was released about 3 years ago. It is clear that the only thing Universal did with this release was to take the VHS transfer and put it on a DVD. The picture quality is the same and they released it in 2-Channel Dolby, you read it right, 2-Channel Dolby. Now I'm going to assume that most people that have DVD players have a surround sound system and 9 times out of 10 it's going to be at least a 5.1 channel surround system (2 fronts, 1 center, 2 sides and a sub), and over 3 years have gone by since the VHS release and they can't even remaster the audio to 5.1, shame.

The extra features on the DVD our cool, but they are the same exact extras as the VHS release, nothing new. Come on, if they wanted to do something cool for this DVD release they should have put Audio Commentary with the band, how great would have that been and it's not like Danny has done that with other DVD's he scored music too, Edward Scissorhands & Nightmare Before Christmas to name a few.

Well, if you don't have the VHS or the DVD version, I'd recommend dropping everything and buying this DVD, but if you have the VHS version, save your money, it's the same thing transferred to a DVD without any improvements. The picture quality and the sound are a tad better just because it's a DVD (Digital vs. Analog), but it not worth the extra money. Maybe they'll come out with a Collector's Version for next Halloween that will have some new features and remaster audio to 5.1, or better yet, come back for another Halloween tour, I can only hope.

Summary: Great show. Mediocre DVD.
Review: OB was one of the best live bands ever. This is a great swan song for Elfman and the boys and they go out in garnde Halloween style. Too bad A&M didn't even try to create a better DVD than the previous VHS release. No excuse for this except for laziness and being cheap.

Summary: Molly Hatchet Rocks!
Review: Once again, Molly Hatchet proves that they are the rockin'est band ever!! I could watch this video a hundred times and still love the live version of "Penthouse Pauper!"

Summary: Incredible!!!!
Review: Possibly the best concert video ever, by one of the best live bands ever. If you love Boingo, or even just kinda like em, this must go into your collection.

Summary: Try seeing the DVD before you review it.
Review: The process of reviewing a DVD is simple, and it requires you actually see it before you review it. Duh. Three reviews have been posted in here before it was even released! Review on product, not anticipation... There are plenty of DVDs released these days that simply look and sound worse than the VHS. Of course I hope this is not the case with this partiular release.

Summary: If it is half as good as the VHS
Review: The VHS take on their farewell concert is excellent in a six head VCR. I can only believe that the DVD version, being remastered by the Elfman himself, should be a shining example as to why the Boingsters are about 50 years ahead of their time. And you will probably discover why you sunk $5000.00 plus into that home theatre system. This is better than Christmas when I was five. Fans and non-fans alike would do themselves justice investing in this soon to be classic DVD. Now if only they could regroup just one last time. Please!!!

Summary: Don't listen to anybody else!
Review: This DVD is wonderful! Everybody is complaining that the sound isn't great. It was recorded in stereo and it sounds great in stereo. If you were to remaster the sound to multichannel it would make it sound more processed and more studio-like. Being that it is a live video, that is exactly how it should sound. As far as the video itself, it is a must have for any Boingo fan. Not only does it include a whole show compiled from 2 nights of the Farewell Tour at the Universal Amphitheatre but it also includes some great behind the scenes footage. It give you the history of the band and it really captures the true essence that is Boingo. Please do not make the mistake of passing this one by. Boingo was one of the best live bands ever. They hardly ever had opening bands that you had suffer through and they are one of the only bands I know that actually sound better live than recorded. That's all I have to say, now click on the order button and get yourself a copy today. Take care everybody.

Summary: A grand farewell to a great group.
Review: This video is just one heck of a farewell concert thrown by Oingo Boingo as they prepared to go their separate ways. Aside from the awesome concert footage, the tape conatains 2 entertaining videos (Insanity and Little Girls), and before the actual concert their is a segment on the history of Oingo Boingo as well as the pre-concert interviews. This is a must have for any fan of the group. END

Summary: Perfect Band - Perfect Concert - Imperfect DVD
Review: What can I say except, "I love Boingo!" I have a been a longtime and devoted fan of Danny Elfman and the band. I attended farewell concerts in Las Vegas and Los Angeles (including the shows they filmed for this video release). If anything, this DVD captures the essence of an Oingo Boingo concert, so much so that no Halloween is complete without a viewing. I remember purchasing the two video set when it was released and watching it over and over - to the point that they don't play any longer. But there is a problem with the DVD - They didn't include anything NEW!

Everything from the video is on the DVD. It is all organized and easily found using the special features buttons. You can go to your favorite songs. But there is NOTHING NEW on this latest release. No additional archive footage, no 'Where are they now' sections, nothing to provide me with incentive to run out and add it to my collection (for the record - my wife gave it to me for my birthday).

Is it worth it? Sure. But don't expect anything you didn't already have.
