Summary: ALL THE VIDEOS
Review: I was excited to see this dvd come out because after years of taping these videos off of MTV and VH1, I can watch these without seeing interruptions and fuzzy wuzzys on the screen. It sure is a treat to see the boys grow from video to video. The only thing that's missing is "Drowning". I would have loved to see that video on the dvd. I watch this dvd everyday and see my Nicky grow from a boy to a man! :)

Summary: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I was hyped when New Kids on the Block came out with a Greatest Hits video, and now BSB. I feel like I'm in pop heaven. Due to the way how TRL works, I haven't seen over half of these videos without those annoying interruptions. I just bought the video today, and I absolutely loved watching the videos of their greatest hits. The videos of "Quit Playing Games", "Everybody", "Larger Than Life", and "More Than That" are my favorites. I was just surprised that neither version of "Drowning" was on the video as the guys filmed two versions of it. Nevertheless, the video was a great buy, and I am very pleased with it. I hope the guys keep up the good work!

Review: I'm so glad the guys finally made a collection of their videos. I've been wanting the "I want it that way" video ever since it came out, and now I've got it! I hope everyone who buys this video/DVD loves it. Keep on supporting the BSB!!! I love you Nick, thanks for meeting me in Chicago!!!!

Summary: Wow- -that's all I gotta say!
Review: I've been a huge avid fan of the Backstreet Boys since '97, and I own all their albums. I've seen all their music videos on MTV and the Disney Channel. And now, after they recorded HITS - CHAPTER ONE, the album, they came out with this amazing complication DVD featuring all of their hit music videos, except for their new song, "Drowning" (which can only be found on the CD-Single and the hits album). That is the only disappointing thing about this DVD. Oh well. I actually think the music video is on the CD-Single for "Drowning" because I think the CD-Single is enchanced, so it might show the video. But anyway, this is the full-list of all the music videos you will see on this DVD (not in the correct order):

"Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" ~ BACKSTREET BOYS (1997)
"As Long As You Love Me" ~ BACKSTREET BOYS (1997)
"Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" ~ BACKSTREET BOYS (1997)
"I'll Never Break Your Heart" ~ BACKSTREET BOYS (1998)
"All I Have To Give" ~ BACKSTREET BOYS (1998)
"I Want It That Way" ~ MILLENNIUM (1999)
"Larger Than Life" ~ MILLENNIUM (1999)
"Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" ~ MILLENNIUM (1999)
"Shape Of My Heart" ~ BLACK & BLUE (2000)
"The Call" ~ BLACK & BLUE (2000)
"More Than That" ~ BLACK & BLUE (2000)

Of course, they always miss out on some of their hit songs like "We've Got It Goin' On" (the very first single in late 1996, which is off their BACKSTREET BOYS album); "What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful)" - I don't think they've made a music video for that but it was a single for some short time, and possibly one of their best love ballads ever, and several other songs that were International singles. I do not understand why they cannot put International music videos on a music video DVD that is released in the US. That only forces the hardcore fans to buy the International versions of the DVDs instead of the US version.

I also feel as though this complication DVD is not complete because they could have added more to it like interviews with the Backstreet Boys, snipets of their concerts, photo galleries, biographies, some extra bonus BSB footage, and other things that would make a fan pleased. But all in all, as far as the music videos go, this is an excellent collection of all the BSB's hit music videos and a must have for all die-heart BSB fans. Now, you don't have to go rushing to tape all of their music videos every time you see them on MTV or the Disney Channel!

~P.S.: The DVD sound and picture quality is excellent and top-notch. The BSB deserve all the credit and success they have achieved and more!!~

Summary: Great DVD by the Backstreet Boys, BUT needs more to it...
Review: If you even love one or two songs by the BSB, then I recommend this DVD to you. They have some really creative, and excellent videos..and you get to see all of them on one disc! Still there are some pros and cons to owning this DVD. A couple of awesome things about it is that all of their music videos that are on here are in TOP NOTCH quality, plus, you get to fiddle around with the surround sound (or stereo), and the foreign language subtitles! Each of the videos is in the chapter selection, (kinda goes with 'Chapter One' hehe), it took me a minute to figure this out, but each BSB album that appears on your screen, is how you will get to the certain "chapter" of videos that you want--and you can watch them in any order which is a plus. A few problems I have with this DVD, they should have added on to the 'special features' section, all they have on there is the website links. It would be cool if they added a "video bloopers", or a "making of.." section, or even a "photo" section :-) But oh well. Also, they put the SINGLE version of "Everybody" on there, when we all know that the album version is much, much better! lol. Also, they dont have all of BSBs videos ever created, just their hits. AND, if you think that "Drowning" is gonna be on there, look again. I bought this knowing that "Drowning" wasnt gonna be on there, but I guess some people didnt know (when it IS kinda obvious). So just a little FYI, the "Drowning" video is not featured on there. But all and all, this DVD is DEFINATELY worth buying! :-)

Summary: Great pop songs and ballads, but buy the Japanese release
Review: If you like pop music and ballads, you are going to love this compilation even if you are not a Backstreet Boys fan. This is one great compilation worth buying. The only problem with this U. S. release is that it has the least number of videos (12 only). The U. K. release (Amazon.co.uk) is better with 14 videos but the format is PAL which will not play well (or not play at all) on NTSC tv's. The Japanese release (Amazon.co.jp) is the best release of all with 16 videos including 'Drowning' and 'I'll Never Break Your Heart' which are not present in either the U.S. or the U.K. release. If you live outside the U. S., buy the Japanese release instead. (You need to have a multi-region DVD player and a multi-system tv [PAL/NTSC/SECAM compatible tv] to play the Japanese release.)

Summary: Great Collection
Review: It captured a quite long history of one band that actually very good careers in music industry. Personally, I consider this as great greatest hits compilation among others and Backstreet Boys actually has proof themselves as one of big band around the world. Drowning also a very nice song and after I saw the clips, it's very sad to not have them in the DVD.

Summary: Boys will be Boys
Review: It seems as if the Backstreet Boys, like the poor, have always been with us: As this greatest-hits package demonstrates, the Boys have only been making hit singles for about five years (though admittedly, that's a lifetime in pop-culture years). While it's stretching things considerably to call all of the tracks here hits (especially several of the lesser Blue numbers), the BSB have managed to assemble a credible greatest-hits package without too much padding -- in a disposable era, that's a considerable accomplishment.

Music's a fickle old world. Average boy bands come and go with alarming regularity while every so often a group dig their heels in and win the hearts of teenage girls on a staggering global scale. The Backstreet Boys fall into the latter category.

Yet, no matter how many screaming fans, platinum records or hits they acquire, every band suffers the same fate - they grow up. It's the seven year rule - Take That lasted six years, Boyzone just over seven and now the BB are into their eighth year - when the collective are no longer the fresh faced teenagers from those early photos, eager for the challenge ahead. The endless schedules have taken their toll; the gang mentality has started to crack and the lack of privacy is intolerable.

Minds wander to solo careers and, more significantly, to the young pretenders ready to snatch their crown with the likes of *NSync and O-Town omnipresent. And then, of course, there's fame and the almost inevitable rehab. And, how long can grown men approaching their thirties be attractive to pre-pubescent teenage girls and how long can they go on playing the part of all-singing, all dancing pop idols 24 hours a day?

So what have they achieved during chapter one? For starters the 16-track collection justifies why BSB became one of America's biggest bands ever and why they totally dominated the 90s pop market. Don't expect to discover a hidden side to the band. It's smash after smash of predominantly Swedish manufactured hits worthy of filling any stocking this Christmas thanks largely to the Cherion production house and in particular the pop genius of Britney writer/producer Max Martin who had a hand in 10 of the album's 16 tracks.

Unlike some pop acts, this collection also demonstrates that the BSB were far from one-trick ponies. Their sweeping mid-tempo ballads were obviously their trademark and there's plenty of those - 'As Long As You Love Me', 'Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely', 'Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)' - but 'Larger Than Life', 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)', and 'The Call' show the BSB were equally as happy (and successful) off their stools and strutting their stuff.

The tracks here are derived almost solely from three studio albums, their breakthrough self-titled offering, 1999's masterful "Millennium", and "Black and Blue". Their finest songs are all accounted for, including "Shape of My Heart," and the superb "I Want It That Way," which is to teen pop what "Stairway to Heaven" is to classic rock.

As boy-band pop is wont to do, almost everything here is earnest enough to make one's teeth hurt, with the glaring exception of Blue's "The Call," the group's one ill-advised foray into bad-boyfriend pop. The new, achingly sincere (and absolutely seamless) ballad "Drowning" is a welcome return to form. It's also the only Hits track not available on this DVD/VHS package.
