Summary: How all music DVD's should be made!
Review: I've been collecting concert DVD's since they first came out, and remember the amazement when I first saw (and heard) Fleetwood Mac's "The Dance" DVD. The sound of a live concert recorded in true 5.1 surround simply blew me away. And since that first DVD, I've grown my collection to over 30 concert DVD's. - Some have been OK, some have been rather average, and some have been fantastic. This new Sister Hazel concert defiantly falls in the later category. It's really a two-in-one bonus. The full-length documentary is as funny as it is insightful as to how these guys live. The Concert portion's sound is top notch. And the visuals are stunning. No washed out shots in this one. The colors look as good as really being at the show.
Few concert DVDs capture the "Live" feeling as well as "A Life in the Day" does. This is truly a new benchmark for concert recordings - and is a must have in anyone's collection.

Summary: Get this DVD!
Review: I've seen and met many different artists, but there's something about Sister Hazel that's just different. With a band that's acheved national success and had numerous hits on commercial radio, you tend to expect a little ego or seperation from their audience. That's not the case with SH, and this DVD takes you on a ride to prove they're anything but the norm. It starts out with a feature length documentary that takes you behind the scenes on their 2003 tour. You get to see them in their natural environment just having the time of their lives interacting with those that love their music. From the bus to the stage and everything in between, the whole thing is laiden with sound clips and live performances. When the documentary ends, the show begins -literally. The filming takes you to a full performance at the House of Blues in Orlando. With great camera angles and perfect sound mixing, you get to watch from the best seat in the house -yours!

I've seen DVD's put out by artists that just come across as bland shows with little interviews as extras. It's nice to see SH did it right. You really get a feel for the guys and can't wait for the next show to roll through town.

If you like this, be sure to get "Live, Live", also. It's the concert in CD form so you can take them on the road with you!

Summary: Amazing look into the life of a great rock band!
Review: If you're not a fan of Sister Hazel before you watch this DVD, then you will be once you're done. It is a great look at not only the great music these guys make, but more importantly an amazing introspective into the people behind the music. Not only does it give you a taste of life on the road with the Sister Hazel guys, it gives you a look into their life and history in their hometown of Gainesville, and into all of the special things the guys do in their lives and for their adoring fans. Finally, it's topped off by a great live show! A must have for any music fan!

Summary: Nothing beats this piece of artwork!
Review: Imagine, just for one minute, having the life of a rock star. Imagine touring from city to city, playing with so much passion on stage in front of thousands night after night, riding on your very own tour bus, leaving fans on cloud nine for days, and doing what you love for a living. It's everyone's dream.

Now, imagine your family and those you love. Imagine the sacrifices, the commitments, and the hard decisions you have to make by being on the road all the time. It's sort of bittersweet in it's own way. However, you don't have to imagine it any longer.

"A Life In The Day" portrays five down-to-earth guys trying to juggle it all. Ken Block, Andrew Copeland, Jett "Jeff-Jett" Beres, Mark Trojanowski, and Ryan Newell are the five pieces of the puzzle, which is known as the group Sister Hazel. It's witty, inspiring, hilarious, and full of stories. It's a must have! You won't regret it for one second!

The concert portion of the DVD is brilliant! From the lighting and sound to the music and the crowd, I have never seen anything better than this! What more could you ask for than great music and a good 'ole time! It features a killer version of "All For You," the heartfelt encore "Out There," and guitar solo mastery in songs like "Happy." Also, one thing that you can't miss is the infamous spin in "Change Your Mind." So, buy it today and curl up on the couch one night, but I promise you, you won't be sitting for long!

Summary: Surpassing the limits of satisfaction!
Review: In the documentary section of Sister Hazel's DVD "A life in the day", the band has uniquely found a way to reach new levels of connection with fans and effortlessly brings their down-to-earth southern charm as they travel in a tourbus across the country and joins the fans on The Rock Boat annual party cruise.

Having personally attended many Sister Hazel concerts throughout the east and midwest, I can honestly say that this DVD captures the personality of the band. What we see on the documentary IS Sister Hazel. This DVD is not just a documentary of the most enchanting band to have come along since The Beatles...the concert will explain what all the buzz is about. A MUST SEE!

Summary: This a great DVD... with a couple of flaws
Review: My girlfriend is a huge Sister Hazel fan, so I bought her this DVD for Valentine's Day. It is a great concert with great sound. We saw them live in Gainesville, FL the night after the concert shown in the video, and it is basically the same set. (Though, having them home in Gainesville meant they were able to point out old friends and family in the arena, which is a nice touch.)

The only flaws to be found is if you have a widescreen, high definitiion TV, you will notice the video quality isn't quite as good as you might want (though it is still great.) If the concert had been shot on film instead of video, it might be better. Worse (IMHO), though, is the concert is literally letterboxed as opposed to anamorphic widescreen. If you know the difference, you know the problem.

Overall, those are minor quibbles, and I highly recommend this DVD to Hazelnuts and even those with a mild interest. These guys are very talented all around and you won't be disappointed with it.

If I could have given this DVD 4.8 stars, I would. But I just can't justify a fiver.

Summary: Adventurous Fun!
Review: Sister Hazel has always been one of my favorite bands but not only because they are very talented musicians, but because they are "good people" as well. They take you on tour and you get to experience a taste of how life on the road is for them. It's filled with humorous dialogue that kept me smiling the whole time. The concert footage is fantastic. This is definitely one band that you MUST catch live if you ever get the chance. They are true to their fans and give their all at every one of their shows. Realizing how important their fans are to them, they have a special way of making you feel like a part of the action with a high level of fan interaction. Lastly, this DVD is extremely professionally well done and I was very impressed with the quality of the video and editing techniques ~ like none I've ever seen before. VERY impressive.
