Rating: Summary: Bjork is a Faerie in the Trees Review: I never thought that I would be lucky enough to posess a collection of Bjork's "music videos." This collection is perfect for someone who knows Bjork's art, and perhaps even more so for people who first meet her in this video collection. Bjork's music, thoughts, voice are precious enough on audio alone; but to be able to actually view a version of the story of her songs is a gift. The film is wonderful, it stands as an art film- (it is much more than a collection of a pop star's videos/commercials for MTV.) She's a pop musician, and refreshingly, we do not see "behind the scenes" footage of Bjork shopping. We are given the videos alone-- naked, without hype or "spin." Bravo to Bjork, the video directors and Amazon for making this available to everyone !
Rating: Summary: Bjork's creative evolution attracts innovative film artists Review: For anyone who still had doubts about Bjork's unique talents, this collection of videos should offer a convincing statement that she deserves more recognition than she gets. Musically, Bjork has been evolving faster than many of her more high-profiled contemporaries. But now it can be seen that her taste for the avant-garde extends to film as well. When viewed in it's entirety, this eclectic video shows the mind of Bjork always searching for the newest, most unusual statement she and her collaborators can make. And whether it be humour or pathos, the videos will leave you amazed.
Rating: Summary: Bjork is the most innovative pop star on the planet. Review: Bjork has the greatest on screen persona of any artist out there. The images and makeup used in her videos are truely original. She has a totally different look in every video.(all of them unconventional and incredibly sexy.) I only wish they would have added interviews or information on the directors of the videos. More info on the remixed songs and dolby digital 2.0 would have made this perfect.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: An absolute Must-Buy for any Bjork fan! Great videos, great music, great art!
Rating: Summary: Bjork is amazing. Review: Her videos match her musical and creative talent very well. This video is tied for first with Radiohead's 7 Television commercials.
Rating: Summary: Bjork as she should be seen & heard Review: This DVD is an excellent example of how an artist can show the breadth of their creativity in sound and light. Bjork is not the first to do "music videos" but she certainly raises the standard of what to expect. If you like Bjork's style of musical taste and expression this DVD is worth owning. The only problem after watching it is you wish she would do more.
Rating: Summary: A highly distinctive collection of music videos. Review: Bachelorette is the highlight of this clever innovative and fun collection of musical videos. This densely evocative video is more like a 5 minute film about the nature of fame, serendipity, love and nature set to a gorgeous soaring bjork ballad. Seeing all the videos collected here one can't help picking out certain obessions with nature, feminine eros, and technology constantly intertwining and being expertly orchestrated by Bjork.
Rating: Summary: See what MTV COULD have been Review: I first heard of Bjork when I saw the excellent video for "Human Behavior," and I was instantly hooked. Besides that one, the only other Bjork video I'd seen before purchasing this tape was "I Miss You," a treat for all John Kricfalusi (Ren & Stimpy) fans! I am absolutely delighted that this collection was released, so that I could see all the other videos, which definitely met my high expectations. This collection will make you appreciate what an artform the music video can be. You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: visionary, unsurpassable, powerful Review: I'm not aware of how Bjork figures out who to work with when creating her videos, but she's done an exemplar job of creating passionate, compelling (oddly so in some cases), beautiful, haunting and impressive audio/video montages. Her consistency in producing unique and soul-full music crosses over to her visual creations as well. From the deliciously wonderful bear-filled forest setting of Human Behavior to the twistedly deviant little Spumco-animation by Ren and Stimpy creator Jon Kricfalusi to the simple fixed-camera-on-back-of-truck creation, you can't help but notice there is SOMETHING MORE to Bjork than her Icelandic-pixy label might suggest. She runs deep and she's somehow managed to retain her child-like innocence. These videos clearly set the standard to which all music videos should aspire. You will LOVE this DVD if you are a Bjork fan and likewise if you are passionate about film/video making.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfull collection of videos from a talented woman. Review: For all of Bjorks fans who can't see hervideos frequently because she's not "mainstream",Volumen is a must have!!! Volumen features some of the hottest video directors around Michael Gondry,Stephane Sednaoui & Jean-BaptisteMondino.Through their vision, they have captured the very life spark of Bjork's music for our enjoyment.
