Rating: Summary: Simply the most beautiful and imaginative thing on one video Review: It is a hard thing to pull of if you can do it. Making the best music on the planet and the finest pieces of visual art to accompany them! It is a shame that there are 3 of the videos missing ("Ooops", "Alarm Call" & "All is full of love") but what you have left is 14 other clips that are soooo good that you will be wanting to see them over and over again! My personal favourite on this collection is "Joga" as it is quite possibly the best tribute ever paid to Iceland, and contains the most amazing image of Bjork letting us all know what really goes on inside her heart! This is the best way to really understand how such a genius uses her mind, and if it weren't for the credits at the end, it would seem as if the songs were actually dreamt up and recorded while she was fighting a gorilla dentist / playing seductively with eggs / morphing in to a polar bear / dancing in a 'Ren & Stimpy' cartoon, or simply being the best! Lets all bow down infront of this cassette tape (or DVD) and hale a true, unique and unassailable genius! (The artwork to 'Volumen' is worth a praise or two as well!). Our hats go off to you, Bjork!
Rating: Summary: Definitely a must-have Review: Björk is not only known for her visionary music, but also for her equally visionary videos. This first version of Volumen has 14 of her videos, starting with "Human Behaviour" and ending with the video of the 3rd single from Homogenic, "Hunter". Not included are her next 2 videos from the same album: "Alarm Call", directed by fashion designer Alexander McQueen and the fascinating "All Is Full Of Love", directed by Chris Cunningham. The highlights of the compilation are certainly the ones directed by Michel Gondry who has collaborated with Björk on 5 of her videos. Her breakthrough video from 1993 "Human Behaviour" is a sight for sore eyes. One of Björk's favorite videos "Joga" (the other is "All Is Full Of Love")leads to the world of another Gondry-directed video, the mesmerizing "Bachelorette". Other favorites include "Big Time Sensuality", in which Björk sings on top of a truck that goes through the streets of New York; the discreetly sad video accompanying the hopeful "Hyperballad" (also by Gondry) and "It's Oh So Quiet", helmed by Spike Jonze for her best-selling single yet. You may want to buy the second version of Volumen which also includes her videos from Vespertine ("Hidden Place", "Pagan Poetry", "Cocoon"), the video for "It's In Our Hands" directed by Spike Jonze again, and "Nature Is Ancient"- an animated bonus video for the b-side from the Bachelorette single. You for sure will be exposed to the best examples of contemporary music videos...
Rating: Summary: What MTV should be! Review: I am thrilled that Bjork released this collection of her videos. Now everyone can see just how amazing her visuals really are. She takes the music video to a whole new level. Even though she may too avant-garde for MTV's tastes, once you see Volumen, you'll realize the great talent Bjork really is.
Rating: Summary: Genius Review: To bad "Alarm Call" and "All is Full of Love" are not included. AIFOL is absolutely the best video of all time. This compilation shows off the combined genius of Bjork and her video directors. "Possibly Maybe" was a surprise because I never thought it was released as a single. "Hunter", "Joga", "Play Dead", "Army of Me",and "Big Time Sensuality" are my favorites. But all pale in comparison to "All is Full of Love".
Rating: Summary: GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: On this tape you can find more than just some nice music vids- it's a world of it's own. Enjoy the best works of M. Gondry, S. Sednaoui, and other creative directors. Every vid is unique and original, so you find "pure" Bjork in "Hunter", a "Comic-Bjork" in "I miss You", a surrealistic Bjork in "Human Behavior", "Army of me", a self-destroying Bjork in "Hyperballad" and in the most beautiful and heartbreaking song "Jogà" you can find a artificial "state of emergency" (and so the video looks like lovesong for her homecountry Iceland) It's the best music video I ever own and seen, but sadly I missed the newest two videos "Alarm Call" by Alexander Mcqueen and "All is full of love" by Chris Cunningham (Thousand times better than "Frozen" by Madonna.)
Rating: Summary: BEUTIFUL ! Review: "Bjork" is very beutiful! Her voice is rich! She is an expressive face! Picture is great, too. "Volumen"is a substantial work.
Rating: Summary: tearjerking, Creative, ingenius ART Review: I am an intense lover of Bjork and I have always been extremely facinated by her creative videos. For many years I have tried to collect her videos on my own by taping them off of MTV. I was estatic when I saw this video and realized my hunt for all of Bjork's videos was finally over. All of the videos are so unique, artsy, and filled with such creativity!!! Bjork's beautiful voice goes so well with titillating visuals.
Rating: Summary: A must have for all creative people in the world Review: This is a wonderful video! I first got hooked on Bjork when I saw the "It's all so quiet" video. But with this video collection, not only do get that video you also get to see the rest of her creative and great videos. Like I have said, this video is recommended for anyone with an open and creative mind to music. It is a must have for everyone!
Rating: Summary: wow! very cool! Review: If you like bjork or just enjoy interesting videos, this is a really great buy. I was kind of ho hum about my friends DVD player until he popped this in, but watching him access all these really innovative videos with a push of a button was just amazing.
