Rating: Summary: 14 outstanding videos by the most talented artists out there Review: Nowadays it seems as if every video is either a "funny" video (the silly type), s dance coreographies or a slow motion, dark background video with the band singing. Fortunately there are still very few artists that believe that creativity is as important in the video as in the song. And such is the case of Björk. She's one of the (if not THE) most creative artists out there and only outstanding videos would do her music justice. And such was the case. 14 outstanding and unique videos, most unlike anything you've ever seen before. Spike Jonze's (Being John Malkovich) "It's oh so quiet" it's absolutely hilarious with it's change of speed according to the music and the scenes that seem to be taken out of a musical. "Sumco" (the same guy that brought us Ren & Stimpy) presents one of the best videos I've seen in a long time with his peculiar animation. Michel Gondry directs 6 videos in this collection including the acclaimed "Human Behaviour" and others that share more or less the same style as "Army of me" and "Bacherlorette" although other's such as "Hyperballad" are very particular. You'll also see the beautiful "Joga" though the video is not as long as the original song and there's also the deliciously strange "Hunter". And that's just to name some. The only complain I have regarding this video is that it doesn't include Chirs Cunningham's masterpiece "All is full of love" which I regard as one of the best videos ever made. Nevertheless, if you like good videos it's certainly worth buying and it's a must have if you're a Björk fan.
Rating: Summary: The most creative musician of the late 90's Review: In an era when music has slumped to a new low of mediocrity and where being derivative is the norm, Bjork stands out as an island of innovation and creativity. This collection starts off on a high note with the amazing jazz/classical fusion of "Human Behavior", where only a superb vocalist of the calibre of Bjork could hit those microtonal notes that give the piece its unusual melodic and harmonic character. But, clearly Bjork would be unhappy doing the same thing over and over, so each piece in this collection is in a different, yet equally innovative style. What makes this DVD superior to a compilation CD is that the pieces are accompanied by unusual and challenging videos that match the creativity of the music. Highly recommended to anyone with advanced tastes in music.
Rating: Summary: Awesome collection of some of the best music vids out there! Review: I had seen a few of Bjork's music videos before buying this DVD, but only the 2 or 3 that were popular enough to get much play on MTV. I bought this DVD going mostly on the fact that her music sounded great, and I was not dissapointed. This has to be one of the best compilations of music videos out there. There are so many good videos on here that just weren't popular enough to get much airtime, and I don't think there is a single video I didn't enjoy. They are done by a variety of directors and Bjork's music goes great with the visual styles presented in these videos. And the range of material is pretty incredible, from scenes of Iceland scenary timed with music to a 'Ren and Stimpy' style animation, I think most any Bjork fan will be pleased with this collection.
Rating: Summary: Entrancing Review: This compilation of Björk's work is incredible. The outstanding video quality offered by DVD serves to draw the viewer even further into her creativity and the ideas she was trying to convey. I suggest this title to anyone who enjoys staring in awe at true aestetic beauty and hauntingly encapsulating vocals. Björk is awesome.
Rating: Summary: You cannot prepare yourself... Review: Get ready to be blown away. For anyone who likes bjork or art, this is a must have. Honestly, they should show these videos more on m2, because they really are amazing. And one of the best parts is how you can see that she just keeps getting better and better. I can hardly wait for the next album. Plus, you have no option but to watch the videos numerous times, because you can't even begin to understand them, or get the full effect of them until you do! My personal favorites: hunter, bachlorette, possibly maybe, hyperballad, army of me.....oh geez, i like 'em all!!
Rating: Summary: Masterpiece! Review: Being a relatively new Bjork fan, I cannot tell you how much you need to purchase this DVD if your support in her music is wavering. After viewing Volumen, I was convinced that she truly is a unique artist that is constantly tossing her audience little crumbs of truth about what she loves, and what's real. It's as if with Volumen, Bjork has prepared for us a feast, and laid it out on the table for all to enjoy. My personal favorites visually are "Possibly Mabye" and "Bachelorette". Though the lyrics are wonderful on both, the presentation really stood out and were directed with perfection. Lyrically, I love "Joga", such a beautiful song. The rest are amazing, so buy this DVD, you don't have to think about it! It's a feast, go ahead and eat already!!
Rating: Summary: Great comprehensive piece Review: This is a great collection of most of Bjork's videos. Wonderful imagery and lots of replay value. DVD version is exceptional in that it has a visually descriptive menu that allows you to jump to the song of choice.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: Phenomenal! Great video collection for both Björk fans as well as those just getting acquainted with her music.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Review: I must say that I'm not as big a fan of Bjork these days, but I still watch this video! Her absolute best video has got to be Hyperballad! Or maybe All is Full of Love, but I've only seen like 2 seconds of it...
Rating: Summary: Bjork is amazing. Review: Not only does Bjork produce some of the most beautiful haunting music around lately, she also uses the visual medium to it's fullest ability to aid her songs. Her videos are not typical mtv fast edit wastes of film, they themselves are works of art expressing stories and ideas through the visual medium that go hand in hand with the beautiful music she wrote. This is a must have if you like Bjork at all and even if you don't, then this will turn you into a fan. The videos for Hyper Ballad, Bachelorette, yoga, and its of so quiet are some of my favorites and every single video holds it's own. Big time sensuality is a very simple video of bjork on a truckbed in downtown new york but she is so charming and cute that it works. The disc has gotten tons of use and I show it to friends all the time.
