Rating: Summary: Awesome buy Review: I just bought this DVD and it simply is nothing short of impressive. Not only is the picture, production, and the live sound fantastic. Some of the live versions of these songs are a must hear!!! For example. the solo section in "She Wolf" is amazing with guitar battles between Mustaine and Pitrelli, and a drum solo etc. And that's just one song down. This band's musicanship on this DVD is fantastic. Notice-do not listen to the reviewer who said "Warning- Kill the king, Angry Again etc. arn't on the DVD." THESE SONGS ARE TOO ON HERE!!! . The songlist on the back is out of order, but the other songs are in the "special features" section. All the songs are on this DVD. The reason I gave it a four is because sometimes the cameras are "too short of footage" on Al Pitrelli and Dave Ellefson, and way too much of Jimmy. Plus, I thought there should of been way more footage of the studio sessions of The World Needs A Hero As far as Megadeth in concert goes, this gave me a great, and more understanding of my favorite band in concert. I don't think I can make myself any more clear! It's about time they made a DVD, and this is worth the wait.
Rating: Summary: Very entertaining Review: If you are a Megadeth fan, don't think it twice, GET THIS! It's Megadeth at it's best. It might not have Nick or Marty, but none the less the other guys are awesomely talanted. It's nice to watch this guys do some of the old songs so well, solos and everything. While the new ones are slower, they are just as good! Of course we all wished that some other songs were included too. But then if it was up to me, Megadeth should have done all their repertory... The live feeling is there, yet everything sounds nice and clear. It's totally worth your money and totally worth buying, you will be watching it often!
Rating: Summary: Brought me back to the Vic... Review: Ok, so this concert was in Arizona, not Chicago. But just seeing the TWNAH backdrop, the wall of amps, and the lights, it all really brought me back to when I saw Megadeth in October 2001. This DVD is a lot of fun to listen to and watch. This band was a prime live band, like all great bands. The greatest bands give you their best performances live. Megadeth was one of them. This DVD captures all the energy and magic of the real concert. My firstg complaint is the "Underground Show" idea. It was really pointless and not well done. The whole concert should have been in color and slickly produced. Also, how much of the goddamn drummer do we need to see? Jesus Christ, have some sense. Jimmy gets more TV time here than Anna Kournikova on tennis shows. More Dave Ellefson would have been a better idea. The one thing I do like about the direction is that when Al or Dave pull off a solo, you generally get to see them throughout their whole solo, and that's great. The most well shot songs on this DVD are Sweating Bullets, Dread & the Fugitive Mind, Symphony of Destruction, and Holy Wars. Definitely worth the money. Buy it and own a great band on a DVD you can watch over and over.
Rating: Summary: Beauty! Review: This DVD rocks!! Megadeth rule!!! From start to finish this concert goes off, but I think the Underground Show was a stupid idea. It's clearly the same show and should have just been kept with the original track order. The sound and picture quality are pretty good, but perhaps not the greatest. When I first heard the Dolby 5.1 I didn't like it, and would just watch it in Sterio instead. But I've recently tried it out again and for some reason it sounds better now, and I'm using it again. Much better than Slayer's War at the Warfield" which doesn't sound that great and is just overall a boring show. As for the set, well I'll be damned if it isn't one of the best setlists from any live band that I've ever seen! I believe they cover material from every album released apart from "Risk," which to my knowledge was considered their worst studio effort to date??? I don't know, I haven't really heard it. Probably my only beef with the show is that Dave's guitar on certain songs, particurally during solos tends to overpower Al's which is a shame, but it's classic Dave!! haha Yeah so buy it 'cause Dave needs the support!! He's releasing a new album soon by the sounds of things, it's going to be great!!!
Rating: Summary: songs 3 thru 10 - somewhat robotic Review: good audio. almost flawless performance of hanger 18. being a musician myself, i dont mind watching musicians just standing there. it gives the camera people time to focus on the musicians ability to play. when they are jumping around you cant focus on the actual playing. basically, this is what this live footage is....the guys just stand in one spot and now you can get long closeups of the artist at work. this is kinda boring for the songs 3 thru 10. its mostly not very well known tunes and they kind of blend into one another and....yea yea yea. now the songs from burning bridge on?....thats when the music gets more interesting. the guys still stand there but it doesnt matter now. every song from burning bridge on is great. (thank god for fast forward) 1. Dread and the Fugative Mind 2. Kill the King 3. Wake Up Dead 4. In My Darkest Hour 5. Angry Again 6. She Wolf 7. Reckoning Day 8. Devil's Island 9. Train of Consequences 10. A Tout Le Monde 11. Burning Bridges ********************** 12. Hangar 18 13. Return to Hangar 14. Hook in Mouth 15. Almost Honest 16. 1000 Times Goodbye 17. Mechanix 18. Tornado of Souls 19. Ashes In Your Mouth 20. Sweating Bullets 21. Trust 22. Symphony of Destruction 23. Peace Sells 24. Holy Wars
Rating: Summary: An absolute must have for every Megadeth fan Review: Containing what is footage from Megadeth's possible final tour, the Rude Awakening DVD is an absolute must own for any and every Megadeth fan. Featuring some of the most aamzing guitar work ever captured in a live video concert performance, Rude Awakening is a more than fitting swan song for one of the most legendary metal bands of all time. Seeing the band perform "Dread & The Fugitive Mind", "In My Darkest Hour", "Angry Again", "She Wolf", "A Tout Le Monde", "Mechanix", "Sweating Bullets", and "Peace Sells" on this DVD is almost as good as seeing the band in person; the audio and visual presentation is uncanny. While it would have been nice to see some other fan favorites like "Mary Jane", "Forclosure of a Dream", "Looking Down the Cross", "This Was My Life", "Countdown to Extinction", "Insomnia", "Diadems", and "Moto Psycho", this concert DVD is still phenominal.
Rating: Summary: "Megadeth Shred Through Some of Their Greatest Hits" Review: Dave Mustaine and company shred through some of their best songs ever. Everything from 1985's "Mechanix", to 2000's "Dread and the Fugitive Mind" is included. No "Megadeth hits" are missing, but the tracks "These Boots", "Good Mourning/Black Friday", "Anarchy in the UK", "Skin O' My Teeth" "Foreclosure of a Dream", "Crush 'Em", and "A Secret Place", would have made a nice addition to an already wonderful DVD. My personal favorites would have to be "Hook in Mouth" "Ashes in Your Mouth", "Holy Wars", "Kill The King", and "Wake Up Dead." Dave Mustaine, Al Pitrelli, Jimmy DeGrasso, and David Ellefson rip it up, like Megadeth always do, and take no prisoners, with a set that showcases their 15 year reign as the world's fastest metal band. Megadeth R.I.P. (1985-2002).
Rating: Summary: Great Live Performance of Technically Dazzling Guitar work Review: Megadeth is my favorite of the "big four" thrash bands (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax), Dave Mustaine is the god of speed metal. This DVD is great because, not only does it have a whole lot of great songs, but it also keeps the camera on Mustaine and lead guitarist, Al pitrelli's fingers and hands so you can watch all of the amazing solos up close; but don't worry there are plenty of drum shots as well. The songlist is great because it includes most of the old Megadeth classics as well as the newer material. My problem is that it doesn't quite have enough of the old classics. My opinion would be to throw out "reckoning day," "train of consequences," "almost honest," and "she-wolf" except the drum and guitar solo and fill that space with "foreclosure of a dream," "Looking Down the Cross," "Good Mourning/Black Friday," and "Recipe For Hate...Warhorse." However, all things considered this is the best concert DVD I own. The band runs through a 20 song set with Mustaine only speaking a few words and taking no breaks between the ultra-fast songs. The solos are absolutely mind-blowing and like I said it's got a great set list - Buy it!
Rating: Summary: great live! Review: at the first i was expecting megadeth will recording their live album when marty & nick was still on the band cause it will be more awesome but nevermind this live album still sounds great with al & jimmy.wht make this album great is probably because unlike most bootleg live recording this live album sound quality is at the top. dave vocal didn;t sounds really good on this album but the rythem tight and perfect plus al pitrelli is playing great in most songs but in some songs like hangar 18 tornado of souls and ashes in your mouth he didn't shred perfectly. but you all knows no one can copy marty friedman solos not to not cause he had very unique style of his own, but overall al pitrelli played well.jimmy de grasso double pedal sounds really pwerfull and david played the bass well as usuall the picture quality is 10/10. my only complain is dave didnt talk much with the audience like he used to, he only talk couple of time with only short speech and that's the only minus point for this live performance overall this is worth buying
