Rating: Summary: a real tribute to bob Review: a must have for all the fans of Bob Marley. excellent sound quality and bonus.
Rating: Summary: Surprise!! Not bad! Review: After the atrocious Marley Magic DVD, I didn't have high hopes for this one either but was pleasantly surprised. Granted, there were some missteps such as Hootie (Darius Rucker) singing "War", Chrissie Hynde singing "Waiting in Vain" (absolutely god-awful) and Busta Rhymes on "Rastaman Vibration" but overall the show captured the spirit of Bob's music. I especially enjoyed Lauren Hill and Erykah Badu. Ziggy and the Melody Makers were also good as was Tracy Chapman. Overall, a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Marley family reunion Review: As far as tribute concerts go this Bob Marley tribute is great. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the performers but some seemed out of place. Veteran female rocker Chrissy Hynde still looked svelte in her black jeans but the now granny aged rocker seemed to be forcing her best skank movements. The inclusion of American rappers is appealing but the connection gets lost in the fiery rhetoric delivered rap style. When the lovely Lauryn Hill comes on stage and turns sideways she practicallty dissapears but her charismatic presence glows in spite of her anorexic looking condition. She delivers several memorable interpretations of Bob Marley. Busta Rhymes was fabulous in spite of the fact I didn't understand one word he sang of a familiar Marley tune. All the Marley children were marvelous and more(none) time should have been featuring Kymani who is only shown in the "extra" footage. Toots of the Maytals looked robust and still able to carry a James Brown like image about himself; his performance was classy soul and he is the godfather of reggae soul. Jimmy Cliff looked very much the aging regae star now sporting a bald look rather than a head of hair from his "The Harder They Come" days; his performance was succint and lacking fire but still good in a melow sort of way. Queen(of what?) Latifah and Tracy Chapman were ok but wouldn't you just love to see them on an edition of celebrity boxing? May the best man, er, woman win. Anyway the musical homage was moving but the choice of artists was eclectic to say the least. The quality of performance is inspired and a fitting trbute.Rita Marley and the I-Threes were stoic as usual and consistently solid. Definetly a mesmerizing experience and a bit like a freak show. Recommended for the crossover generation, both young and old or those whose image of Marley's music cannot be tarnished.

Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time Review: Bob Marley was the King. If you want to hear his music listen to his music...by him. These people have talent but don't need to show it doing bad versions of Bob's songs. Go get the real thing...If you got it all then listen to some new original music by "Onyan Art"...'Hurricane is coming'.
Rating: Summary: Celebrate Bob Marley's Music! Review: Bob Marley's music speaks for itself. This DVD captures a concert in Jamaica where various artists gathered and performed, to celebrate his music. And it is good. The video quality is clear, and the sound (mix) is equally crisp. I enjoyed watching the various artists perform Bob Marley's songs. The Reggae is excellent. But I've got to say, there is something missing, aside from Bob Marley himself. Perhaps my opinion was/is affected by the appearance of RAP music on this celebration of Bob Marley's music. Believe me, I've tried to figure out what it is that appeals to people in regard to RAP, and I can't make a connection, at least not musically. I was enjoying the DVD until Rap appeared, effectively ruining my mood. Call me old fashioned and limited, but the riot cadence of RAP doesn't blend with Marley's music, which I happen to love. My advice to consumers is to rent this DVD, and then decide whether or not you want to own it. You may find that listening to Bob Marley himself, is the best.
Rating: Summary: Best Concert DVD SO Far Review: DVD Concerts have been very slow in coming. Being a huge music fan, I try to get the artists that interest me but so far there have only been a few that really rock. The Marley Concert is an exception. It sounds and looks great. Although, Bob isn't on the disc he is very well represented by a large group of some of the best performers, topped off by Ziggy and family. Anyone who loves music and especially Reggae should check this out.
Rating: Summary: Sesational Tribute to The King Review: Excellent music & video collection. A must have for any Marley fan. All artists perform from the heart and deliver. Yes, it does have a 90's punch to it, but i'm sure Bob would have loved every minute. Great to listen to, and watching the live performances is equally gratifying. Jah Bless!

Rating: Summary: Much Love! Review: First and formost: I love Reggae music. Esp. Bob Marley. Second: I love Erikah Badu and Lauryn Hill. This combines for MUCH love toward this concert. Even though Erikah messed up her words, the beat kept going. And that is what I like. The whole time your head is just bobbin'. I LOVE IT
