Rating: Summary: good, but missing important material Review: Well, first of all. I haven't seen a review of this DVD before the 25th here, so I don't think anyone here is reviewing the thing without watching it(alluding to an earlier review)...it did come out on the 25th. Anyways, I'm glad to finally have something from the band on DVD, even though I think this one is flawed a bit. It looks great as far as the remastering of the sound and picture is concrned, as well as the menu. My problem with it is that this would have been a perfect opportunity for All of the videos rush made before the switch to atlantic to be collected in one place, once and for all. It's missing vital signs, the body electric, and coundown, as well as a video of marathon played on vh1 for a short while (taken from a show of hands) It would have been cool for BOTH versions of tom sawyer to be on it, also, just to be perfect as a representation of the videos presented to the public by the band in the past. I can't imagine why they didn't include any of the missing material....I hate having to rely on my OLD copy of through the camera eye, knowing that in all probability, the three videos on that vhs that are missing from chronicles will never make it to dvd, unless they're tacked unto one of the future Rush dvd releases. Let's hope they are. Also, how about a collection of all the videos from presto to present?
Rating: Summary: And the eyes have it ! Review: I just recieved this DVD and the sound quality is excellent !! I was frustrated on trying to find the "hidden" video's until I got online and found out. Why make it a game??? I just want to watch RUSH!!! They do not share anywhere on the cover or the disk on how to get to them. That's the only reason for the 1 dropped star. I enjoyed the extra selections, but would have prefered some live footage instead of "made for Mtv" clips. I hope all of RUSH's previous vhs releases soon get ported to DVD also.
Rating: Summary: Buy it even if you already have the video! Review: The sound and video quality are so superior to the superior to VHS tape that it's really unfair to compair them. The videos have appearantly been completly remastered. The format is very slick and easy to use and the bonus videos (Afterimage and The Enemy Within) alone make it worth the price. Of coure I am another biased Rush fan. Hopefully Atlantic records will take note and follow Mercury's example.
Rating: Summary: How can you review something you haven't seen or experienced Review: You people need to wait until you actually see this before you can review. You so desperately want this to be great because it is RUSH. I love RUSH, but let's get real. I do not want to buy just because it is RUSH. Remember that the record lables are involved, so there is always compromise. I hope it is great, but your bogus reviews do not help anyone.
Rating: Summary: Almost worth the wait... Review: Finally, the world has a RUSH DVD to enjoy. After being disappointed in the past with other music video DVD's that played through with very little fluff, I have to say that this one is really nice. The menu system is clean and easy to use, and the video selection with the running clips is something you don't see a lot of even on movie titles. To find the "hidden tracks", let the opening sequence start to scroll, and then click on the flashing RUSH CHRONICLES logo. That's it...enjoy...can't wait for something new from the trio.
Rating: Summary: DVD Contents Review: I just ordered it and am waiting in anticipation. I just wanted to list what's on it, though, as that info isn't listed here and it's a bit different than the VHS release. From what I hear, the version of Tom Sawyer is from studio footage (like Vital Signs and Limelight) rather than the live footage from ESL. It also includes Afterimage and The Enemy Within that aren't included on the VHS version. I'm glad they added extras! The rest include Closer to the Heart, The Trees, Red Barchetta, Subdivisions, Distant Early Warning, Red Sector A, The Big Money, Mystic Rhythms, Time Stand Still, and Lock and Key.
Rating: Summary: Big Yes for Rush! Review: Yes, Yes, Yes!!! I have Chronicles on VHS, but am eager to get the DVD version. These are classic videos by one of the best rock bands ever, so it's easy to see why I'm so excited! Rush rocks and Chronicles, with the bonus video of Afterimage, is what I need to tide me over til their new album is released 1Q 2002!!!
Rating: Summary: A Chronicle of Greatness Review: When I found out that Rush was bringing their Chronicles collection to DVD, I knew there was a reason that I had not previously purchased it on VHS or Laserdisc. This is a great collection of music from the Greatest Rock Band to hail from Canada. To all Rush fans out there yearning to see the trio inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, this collection will convince all doubting thomases that they should've been inducted long ago. Let's hope that this is just the first of many DVD shows that we will see from Rush in the years to come.
Rating: Summary: Rush's First Welcomed Step Into DVD Review: I have the VHS version of this and as a typical Rush fan, I'm likely to buy it in DVD format as well. The bonus track that is referred to is "Afterimage" from Grace Under Pressure. The video is likely the one featured in "Through The Camera Eye", a laserdisc that I remember renting years ago. I agree with an above comment that audio quality wasn't that great on the VHS version. I hope the DVD one is fixed. BTW, a careful viewer will note that the version of "The Trees" is NOT the studio version, but a live taping ... but hard to tell, since they are right on the money as always ... :)
Rating: Summary: Hopefully better than the Laserdisc and VHS Review: As owner of the previous VHS and Laserdisc version of this title, I welcome the DVD release. Hopefully it will improve on the sound and video quality. Includes classic Rush videos from the Canadian trio.
