Rating: Summary: I second Washington's emotion... Review: After viewing Live In Sydney I immediately became anxious to actually attend a Kylie concert and was hoping that she'd add a few American dates to her Fever Tour. However, after viewing Live In Manchester I'm glad I was able to save the cash I would have used on a ticket and used a fraction of it to get let down by this DVD. While Kylie's best intentions are put forth on this Paula Abdul/Laurie Anderson hybrid, it never really takes off. Comparing the crowd's frenetic reation to her performances in Sydney to the subdued reaction of the crowd in Manchester is proof alone that high concept and image over energy and substance equals boredom. Those involved in the making of the show might have you convinced that the crowd was merely mesmerized by all the farty in the artsy, but there is simply nothing to get mesmerized with in these two hours of very spotty entertainment. Don't get me wrong: I can be as fascinated with a smart concept when there's one to actually be understood, but the implied idea that there is something to be "gotten" does not necessarily mean there's truly something to get. This concert gets off to such a lazy start that rather than take the stage with such an energetic opener ("Come Into My World"), Kylie stands still for most of the song--over 8 minutes worth--missing the important opportunity to bring her audience into the world she created for her show and of which she herself finds so intriguing. How a choreographer could assign such listless moves to songs that are begging to be danced to is incomprehensible to this spectator. Hey, even a stoned Martha Graham would have given up more groove than these trained professionals. The transitional Ballad Section is a refreshing performance as it presents a fine Kylie reading of some of her better tracks--no clueless earth-to-audience gaze over her minions. Also of note is her "Buffalo Girls" marriage to "Cowboy Style". It's too bad there wasn't more of this fun injected into a show that those who put it together mistook for so-called style. I do consider myself an ardent and longtime Kylie afficianado, but trust me, those who laude this concert and it's 'concept' would find a spiritual weaving throughout Britney Live In Vegas and I simply cannot be heaped upon their biased accolades. With both feet firmly in world domination's doorway, it would be a grave foible to forget the care-free fun that Kylie has efforlessly maintained from day one. So should I be blamed for not getting "IT"? Perhaps, if there was an "IT" to get. Call me foolish, but dance songs are supposed to be danced to; this after all was not a Victoria's Secret (or Love, Kylie) fashion show.
Rating: Summary: Kylie is the queen, and we are her subjects... Review: Okay i am basically new fan of Kylie, i am just old enough to remember "the Locomotion", and living in the states its not like i have had the chance to see a show or anything, but i bought "Live in Sydney" one day and popped it in and was amazed. I did not know the songs but as a performer she made that not matter. After that i bought all the albums online and love her to death. KYLIE FEVER is nothing short of perfection. Although it may seem at times that the show is like other artists, you are blown away by the fact she does it so much better. All the good songs are on here. "The Crying Game" medley really shows that she is a powerful singer. Which in these days of pop shows is the amin factor, EVERY note of Every song is Sung live, such a rarity she should get an award for that alone. All should buy this even if you aren't into KYLIE, because you will be afterwards.
Rating: Summary: Stylish but underwhelming Review: I am a huge Kylie fan, but I can't help but admit my disappointment with her most recent tour, Fever 2002. I absolutely loved her last DVD, Live In Sydney, but this one just came up short. Part of the problem is that I'm not exactly that fond of "Fever", her most recent album. The Live In Sydney DVD was a tour in support of her previous album, "Light Years", which is a true pop classic. The Fever tour is more stylized than her last tour (and obviously more money went into this production). But somehow, despite all the glitz and glamour, the show never really connects with the audience. At least, it didn't with me. Kylie appears to be having less fun on this tour than the last one. On her last tour, Kylie was starting to enjoy success that she hadn't tasted in years. She seemed thrilled to be back. The Fever tour was put together only about a year after the comeback tour, so Kylie probably did not have much time to rest in between, what with the success of the Fever album and her smash single, "Can't Get You Out of My Head". There are some standout performances: "Spinning Around", the Ballad Medley, a stunning version of "Confide In Me", and the Cyber section featuring electronic versions of "Limbo", "Light Years/I Feel Love", and "I Should Be So Lucky/Dreams" are all excellent. But performances of "Love At First Sight", "Fever", a tacky "Locomotion" and a bland version of one of my favorite Kylie songs, "Better the Devil You Know" seem below Kylie's talents. Sure the costumes and lighting are good, but it doesn't help that the choreography is dreadful and unfortunate song choices (why "GBI"?) are included. Kylie is a great performer but this tour, strangely enough, seems uninspired.
Rating: Summary: KYLIE at her so-so Review: It appears that Ms. Minogue copied every single BAD idea Madonna and Cher ever had in concerts. I was so disappointed that Kylie RUINED so many of her classics with "new age" Orbitesque garbage. How could she and her dancers NOT actually dance during "One a Night Like This"--it is not a bed tune baby....laying nearly naked on a bed with odd dancers not dancing beside her wrecked the song. "Confide in Me" is her best song to date, and yet she decided to place neon lights throughout the entire performance so the dramatics of the song were lost with the words 555-CONFIDE flashing non-stop...abysmal. And the costumes? She looked like she stole the clothes Madonna threw away during a Gaultier clearance sale! Buy the dvd because you are a Kylie fan, ignore it, PLEASE, if you are about to become her fan.
Rating: Summary: Kylie continues to dazzle her fans. Review: I would like to say that I really enjoyed this DVD.It is in no way similar to her first DVD"Live in Sydney". Instead, Kylie brings her performance to a a much higher level. She uses all kind of visual tricks and the show becomes a true multimedia event with projection screens, more digital elements, a far greater number of on-stage dancers, and she seems much more glamorous this time. The chief result of all this effort is very visible, as this DVD displays a greater maturity and technological sophistication.Simply put, it is a visual feast and any Kylie fan will enjoy her musical experiments here. This DVD will not disappoint and I encourage you to take on this new adventure as Kylie does. It's a little bit of Las Vegas, Cirque de Soleil, and and theatre.Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: I was at this show and any fan of kylie will not be dissapointed. All the best songs are there from her latest album, the show opening with a fantastic performance of Come into my world (possibly the best track on the album). For the older fans who remember Kylie's early songs two of the great early tracks, I should be so lucky and the locomotion receive some re-mixing to bring them into the new millenium. This is a great show with great costumes and fantastic dancers. Thank you Kylie for a fantastic night out, now the memory will live on forever.
Rating: Summary: Kylie's Best Concert Ever! Review: This DVD is really good. Kylie sings her best songs from all of her albums. This DVD includes 22 best Kylie's songs and also it has 30 minutes backstage footage. The dancers dance pretty good. And she haa a lots of custom changes. All the Kylie fans Have to see this DVD, I am sure everyone will love it.
Rating: Summary: From Sydney to Manchester...4 Stars Lost Along The Way Review: The "Live in Sydney" DVD remains one of my all-time favorite concerts, and gets regular play. The "Live in Manchester" DVD has had its one and only...and a fast-forward one at that. After an interesting opening 2 minutes, I found the rest (save for Chapter 10) difficult to watch. The "let's look at everything from all angles at the same time" editing was tiresome and visually nauseating, and made the uninspired and repetitive choreography impossible to watch (perhaps a blessing in disguise). The dancers (costume, hair, and make-up included) belonged on the set of "Night of the Living Dead"...not a Kylie concert. I've never seen such an ill-conceived and poorly executed effort of this magnitude. A lot of talented people were involved in producing this dud. Someone should have had the guts to speak-up. I'll burn the edited audio to CD and toss the disc. 1 star is generous...this one is a black hole.
Rating: Summary: Techno Kylie Review: The Fever2002 DVD was the first Kylie DVD that I ever bought and it is probably the one that I still watch the most. When I first watched it my first thought was that it is very Euro-ish. The costuming and dancing is a break from usual concerts that you normally see. Most of the tracks that Kylie sings in the concert are techno sounding, tbe exceptions are: The Crying Game ballad section, Confide in me, Cowboy style, and Locomotion. If you want to see what the concert and its style is like, you should check out Kylie's music video for "Love at first sight". The dance movements and dancer costumes will give a little preview on what the concert will be like. So yes, the concert is a little out there but it is also an awesome concert and one that Kylie fans shouldn't miss out on.
Standout performances: Come into my world, Crying Game ballad section, Confide in me,Kids,On a night like this, Burning up, and Better the devil you know.
Rating: Summary: From Stale To FRESH! Review: Okay first off, if you watch this concert you should skip thru until the scene selection called THE CRYING GAME, because up until that point it is a train wreck,so bad it almost made me not want to watch the concert at all,,,i won't go into details but all that was said in a negative way so far is right on,,, but then comes the total SPINNING AROUND ... what is STALE then gets FRESH as in FUNKY FRESH, as in BREAK DANCIN'....Kylie is dressed as a cop tracking down this beautiful Break Dancin' kid she catches tagging a wall , gotta see it to believe it,,,,LOVELY!...then we move to a street scene with all types of dancers..ELECTRIC BOOGALOO all over again, very retro urban 80's! This goes on for awhile where Kylie breaks into Cowboy Style and manages to piece in the Slim Lady rap!!! This is not your typical Kylie and i can see why some people didn't even like this part as well as not liking the opening, but for me , i look at it as another concert to go along with SYDNEY ..yes, SYDNEY is the best, but this is good too!!!!Then Kylie gets BURLESQUE SALSA on us, with the guys in fishnets and stilletos and can-can skirts,it's weird, but when you have the bodies these dancers have,it's RIGHT SEXY! i could go on and on, but what fun would that be just WATCH IT ..it took me several attempts to get thru the dvd at first , i had even given up, wrote a horrible review, but i decided to give it one more try and im glad i did,,,,it was very different and i commend her for trying something unique, this said, that crap at the start-up has got to go!!!!!:) love ya Kylie
