Rating: Summary: tons of extra materials but 5.1 quality was dissapointing. Review: This dvd has collection of great songs. 'Adia', 'Sweet Surrender', 'Angel', 'I'll remember you' and etc. also it features lengthy interview section that really brings the artist close to the fan. it's got photo library and lylics and multi angles loaded with dvd features. Video quality was somewhat blurry but my focus was on the music, so it didn't bother me too much, until I realize 5.1 audio sounds muddy too. for some reason PCM sounds lot better than 5.1 mix. multi angle was kind of pointless since all three angles were edited to show different camera angles and takes away the viewers choice to focus on one camera. i think there is a navigation problem in interview section. once you start the interview chapter, you can't exit until it's over. fast forward freezes the scene and menu button doesn't bring up the menu.i have toshiba sd-3109. Other than technical difficulties, it's a great dvd featuring many beautiful songs.
Rating: Summary: DEFECT ON THE MULTI ANGLE WAS AN UPSET Review: I BOUGHT THE DISC ESPECIALLY FOR THE MULTI ANGLE EFFECT. THE DVD WOULD LOCK UP WHEN PLAYING THE SECTION. WHAT AN UPSET! CONCERT WAS NICE & SWEET CONSIDERING HOW LOW KEY SARAH IS.
Rating: Summary: A Sarah McLachlan Must Have! Review: As an avid Sarah McLachlan fan I am always searching for new albums and such. When I first bought the Mirrorball CD I listened to it over and over again. Most of my favorite songs were there. Then I heard that a Video collection of the same album was to be released with more music on it. I bought it as soon as it was available and never regret the purchase. It is definately worth owning.
Rating: Summary: This dvd has MULTI-ANGLE! Review: On 3 songs, "Fear," "Sweet Surrender," and "Into the Fire," you are give 3 angles with which to view the dvd - regular, up close, and fullstage! Hats off to the producers for fully taking advantage of the dvd format. Audio 2 also gives you a special "stadium" surround mix, much like what delay creates in dsp-capable receivers. Would have been nice if the lyrics showed up as a subtitle rather than placing them in a separate section where you had no music to follow them with. Interview reveals to us a very down-to-earth person in touch with her audience and who has not been jaded by her immense success.
Rating: Summary: Remember to select 5.1 mode Review: There is a little gotcha with this DVD, which may be common on other DVDs, but it certainly fooled me.The DVD defaults to "Stereo" mode which gives terribly compressed sound if played in Dolby Digital mode. You have to select "5.1 surround" mode in the special features mode, and then viola! the soundstage opens up and the sound is truly wonderful. One might question why a DVD defaults to stereo mode or why there is no warning of this on the packaging. Otherwise, an excellent DVD, by far the best music DVD released to date in my opinion. Sarah's band, especially Sean Ashby on guitar, are truly excellent.
Rating: Summary: A tribute to Sarah and the future of DVD Review: I purposefully waited on buying the CD in favor of waiting for the DVD to come out. And I have not been disappointed. Combining the stellar voice and warm appearance of Sarah McLachlan onto a disc that can be held between two fingers is absolutely stunning and well worth the months (it feels like years; perhaps it is years) that we have all waited for this achievement. And let it also be noted that no other medium than DVD is worthy of Sarah's talent. It deserves its preservation on a medium that will capture visually what her lyrics have already captured in sound. Hail Sarah!!! Hail DVD!!!
Rating: Summary: Great performance, lousy sound and video Review: The concert was captured on film...too bad, it is poorly done. Sound is just as bad. In fact the concert sounds better in Pro-logic then it does in AC-3. As far as her performance goes...it is first rate as usual. It is too bad that it was spoiled by crummy sound and video production.
Rating: Summary: Spectacular, would be a complete understatement!!!!!! :) Review: It was the most amazing thing that I have ever seen, the sound was as clear as if Sarah was performing in your living room, the beauty of her voice just swallowed the room, and you would find yourself in the middle of it lip syncing and dancing. It was an amazing concert and its a sin not to get this on DVD.
Rating: Summary: this DVD rocks Review: The music on this DVD is really awesome, but if offers a lot more. You get an interview with Sarah, lots of pictures, and the coolest thing- multiple angles! I like Witness and Path of Thorns.
Rating: Summary: A great concert with Sarah at her best. Review: The last time I saw Sarah was at the close of her 1995 Fumbling tour. I always wished I had some kind of video to capture the power of that show. This new DVD, though filmed 3 years later at the close of her 1998 Surfacing tour, brings back all the energy I experienced in 95. It's an awesome concert, filmed here in the great northwest (Portland, OR to be exact...go Sonics!). I was very impressed with the quality of the DVD (audio and video) and the extra features (photo gallery, text interview, camera angle choices on 3 songs, discography) are fun and just as well done. What struck me most was the lighting of the show and how well the film footage captured it. Turn off your lights, crank the volume and enjoy! I'm very pleased with this acquisition and of the 25 DVDs I possess, it's one of my top 5.
