Summary: Goodbye Steve....We Do Not Miss You!
Review: Back in the 79's and 80's I was more of a metalhead...Blue Oyster, Ted, Sabbath, Van Halen...and other than "Wheel In The Sky" could not stand Journey. Well I'm a little older now and not so wise, but I really enjoyed this dvd. The new singer in my opinion is much better than Steve Perry. His singing is filled with emotion and feeling; .... Schon's guitar playing is as sharp as ever and the drummer is killer.
This is a must have for any 70's & 80's nostalgia trip even if you don't remember much of it the first time around...

Summary: Steve WHO?
Review: Augeri is unbelievable, I have seen JRNY 3 times all with Augeri up front and if you can't see them live or even if you can you owe it to yourself to check this DVD and Arrival CD out. Oh yeah by the way I am not a Perry basher, I think Perry is great it's just that he is now out of Journey and they have a new lead singer, he is Former Tall Stories and Tyketto lead singer Steve Augeri is he is incredible.

Summary: Journey has ARRIVED!!!
Review: If you want to see the way that rock and roll was really meant to be played, you have to watch the Journey DVD, Arrival 2001! This DVD captures the excitement you feel at Journey's live concerts beautifully. Steve Augeri was born to be in this band! His vocals were amazing! Neals Schon's guitar was electric, his fingers hit each note with such passion and precision, it is as if his guitar was on fire! Jonathan Cain really rocks out on the keyboard like nothing I've ever seen! Ross Valory plays the bass guitar better than anybody out there! Deen Castronovo is an amimal - a maniac on the drums! Put them all together and you have something explosive! They definately Rock!!! I would recommend this DVD for anyone who appreciates rock music! Or just anyone with ears- because, this DVD is the best!

Summary: 4.1 Dolby Digital
Review: I just want to comment the technical aspect of this DVD (the audio aspect).
First off I think Kevin Shirley uses too much ambient effect/reverberation (or let the ambient too much) for his mixing especially for Steve vocal, this make the vocalist sound 'rather blurred' or 'far/distance' from the listener.
I also noticed in my systems that the Dolby Front Center Channel practically contain nothing. This may not an indication of defectiveness (there's not a necessity to use all 5 Dolby channels), but maybe as intended by Mr. Kevin, and the sleeve feature notes gave wrong information about it (not a 5.1 Dolby Digital, instead of 4.1 Dolby Digital soundtracks).
Overall the sound is powerful and crisp.

Summary: It's the best!
Review: After many years of waiting for Journey to tour the UK, this disk is the closest I've come to seeing the band live. I waited for Columbia to release a region 2 PAL version but they had no plans to do this, so I was left with no choice but order direct from the US.

Amazon delivered this disk within 5 days - AMAZING - WELL DONE!

The quality of the recording is the best I've seen for a live concert, the sound excellent - Not quite a live concert in my living room, but the best I'm gonna get...

Summary: Journey, 2001: A Big Joke.
Review: When I heard that Journey was coming out with a DVD, I was ecstatic. "Wow!" I thought. "Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon, Ross Valory and Steve Smith! This gonna be great!" But when I signed on to order it and checked out some of the other reviews, I decided to check out "Arrival" as well, and when I did, I was in shock. "Oh, my!" I thought. "Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Deen Costrovano, Ross Valory and Steve Augeri! This can't be right." So, I asked someone at a record store, and they told me that Steve Augeri replaced Steve Perry in 1998. So, I asked what else was available, and I was told that every album Steve Perry recorded with them ("Infinity to "Trial By Fire") was available. I also asked someone if they'd seen the new lineup. They said, "Yes," and they said it was great. Initially, I wasn't sure until I saw VH1's Behind The Music. "What a big joke!" I thought. And after I saw that segment, I bought every Steve Perry-era Journey CD ("Infinity" to "Trial By Fire"), and all of Steve Perry solo albums. "The Steve Perry-era?" The Real Journey. "The Augeri outfit?" Journey, 2001: A Big Joke.

Summary: That's The Way You Need It!
Review: Any way you want it...
The Jorney 2001 DVD is unbelievable; only the Styx DVDs rival it.
Do I smell an old fart?...hardly. The visual and sonic quality of this
production are unparalleled (re-mixed in 5.1 by original producer Kevin
Shirley) and is crisp, classy and heavy. Steve Augeri (check out Tall
Stories, 1991) fills Perry's shoes with no problem; and proceeds to kick
... on command. Here, it is also apparent that Neal Schon has been
waiting to scream and burst out musically for some time...all like a
fine wine, like it or not.
The new songs, Higher Place and All the Way are instant classics
with plenty of power and melody...and yes, the older classics are well
represented here (brilliantly if not identically by Augeri) although
Neal Schon has now promised a "heavier" sound next record, now that
contract time is up. His guitar work soars and screams emotion.
If these blazing performances (Las Vegas, New Year's Eve 2000) of
Fillmore Boogie and La Raza Del Sol are any indication, this line-up of
Schon, Augeri, Cain, Valory, and Castronovo is destined for greater
musical heights than ever.

Summary: Best concert DVD since Eagles: Hell Freezes Over
Review: If you were ever a fan of Journey or a fan of 70's and 80's rock music this disc is a must to own. Don't let the fact that Steve Perry is no longer with the band sway you from this DVD. New singer Steve Augeri holds his own with Perry and if you close your eyes you might not notice a difference. One of the best sounding concerts I have next to the Eagles DTS disc. Oh, by the way, these are some of the greatest rock songs ever.

Summary: The journey is Over
Review: No Steve Perry, No Journey. Steve Perry was more than just a voice. You can't bring in someone with the same first name and who can imitate a good Perry, and expect it to be the same.

Summary: Journey's back!! but...
Review: Ok let me say the basic stuff...Good picture, good sound, venue is alright, but not a great audience.Stage is not deep enough. The drummer is always too close to steve on the TV picture, because they are positioned too close on stage due to the stage size. That's not good production. To compare watch Styx 'Return to Paradise'DVD.
Song selection is good, could have added some more songs.Steve augeri sounds as everyone says 'like 'Perry.Thats about it.the very fact that he sounds like Perry makes you want to compare and he doesn't stand a chance. If you are not familiar with the Journey ex-vocalist Steve Perry then You'll love Augeri. He deserves that much credit.
It's a great concert and a must buy for all JOURNEY fans and even the others would like this concert which has some great tunes.
Go ahead and enjoy.I loved it...But I wish another DVD with Perry also comes out.
