Rating: Summary: Excellent Sound. Love the Classics. THIS IS NOT STEVE!! Review: I know very well that the new singer's first name IS Steve. He almost sounds like Steve Perry, as he can hit the notes, and sometimes he almost looks like Steve Perry. But, for some reason, I cannot watch this without constantly thinking "Why did they record this concert with the Understudy?"An understudy, by the way, is someone who plays the role when the one who's Supposed to Be There is absent. I bought this with the knowledge that it was the Understudy, as I had fun seeing them live with the Understudy. And as much fun as I had, and as much fun as I have listening to the songs and jumping and dancing around the living room while it's playing, I cannot WATCH. This DVD has all your favorites from Journey, and the Understudy does a good impersonation of Steve Perry, but for those who miss Steve Perry, don't turn the TV on, just listen to it and then you'll be satisfied. By the way, the sound on this DVD is Tremendous!!! So turn the picture off and PUMP UP THE VOLUME!!!
Rating: Summary: gplayer Review: This DVD is of great sound and picture quality. It really feels like your at the concert,,if you have a good sound system hooked up to your TV.. Then this DVD is one of the best...Must have.
Rating: Summary: This is the best they can do? Review: Journey is back. This DVD however, is a poor presentation of an otherwise awesome conert experience. Starting with the "Extra's." There are none. A band with this big of a history, hits, talent, and new line up owed it to the fans to present a DVD with interviews, history and backstage/tour features. The video quality was not sharp, but the sound was great. Missing was also their usual Journey crowd interaction and nice stage set up later that same tour. Steve Augeri's amazing voice made this performance fly, as did Neil Schon's guitar, Ross Valory's stage antics, Deen Castronovo's power drum kit and Jonathan Cain's soulful style. All the hits, plus rockin' "Higher Place" and the gorgeous "All The Way" completed this musical masterpiece. Video=D; Audio+Music=A.
Rating: Summary: Steve Perry or Steve Augeri Review: Not really a competition between the two singers ,can only rate it by the sound bites on line. Thanks for all the wonderful input from all the reviews I have read .They make me rethink not wanting to listen to journey because of steve perry's awkward departure. I now realize as much as I love steve perry & will always enjoy his talents with journey or solo, I can try to enjoy the newer version of journey. If it can make me feel like it did years ago that wonderful rush of excitement just waiting to hear another stomping, pulsing heart beating ,rhythmic ride ,then I'll give it a go. All these long time fans of perry can't all just be dreaming.Steve Perry's contributions can never be undone,& I feel Steve Augeri's heart & soul are in the same place as steve perry ,not forgetting two fabulous reasons they exist Neal & Jon.There will always be a synergy between these guys & I wish you all the best . Journey....still they ride.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely awesome! Review: Anyone who says Journey is not Journey without Steve Perry should give this DVD a fair listen. The whole band sounds great! And while Steve Augeri can (and does) do a great job on the "old stand-bys", he proves also that he has his own voice and contribution to the band. All the stuff you ever wanted to hear at a Journey concert is here: Open Arms, Lights, Separate Ways, Faithfully (my own personal favorite), as well as the rarely heard La Raza del Sol and a few (too few!) numbers from their 2000 release, Arrival. The whole band sounds great: longtime members Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain and Ross Valory, and new boys, Augeri and Deen Castronovo. This is Journey as good as they ever were- and ready to get even better! The DVD itself is great- terrific sound, well done! Get it! Watch it! Love it! Love Journey!
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: For all Journey fans! Their music has never sounded better. Highlights for me were La Raza del Sol and Fillmore Boogie...both showcase all of the band members' talents which have only gotten better with time. Drummer Deen Castronovo is a monster on drums! Steve Augeri does the old Journey tunes justice and has his own style, very charismatic!
Rating: Summary: Journey still rocks Review: I will say that when I heard that Steve Perry was not on lead vocals, I was skeptical. I never thought anyone could sound like Perry. After hearing the first song, I was amazed. Steve Augeri can sing note for note with Perry. I actually think they sound better with Augeri because I don't believe Perry can still hit those notes plus Augeri brings youthfullness to the band. The band never sounded better. The audio is incredible on this. If you want a state-of-the-art DVD with unparalled quality, you must get this. You definitely will be glad you made this purchase.
Rating: Summary: Steve who? Review: I'll make this short. Steve Perry needs Journey, not the other way around. Excellent audio, superb video. Neal Schon still is one of the best guitar players on the face of the earth, Ross Valory and Jonathan Cain haven't missed a step and Deen Castronovo brings an intense punch to the beat of Journey. As for Steve Augeri, he wears the shoes as lead singer with no problem. With all due respect to Steve Perry, he can't carry the notes like he used to. That was evident in his last recording with Journey. Most bands that change the line-up seem to upset the integrity of the sound we're used to........NOT WITH THIS ONE MY FRIENDS, they sound much better.
Rating: Summary: JOURNEY 2001 Review: This is a must have DVD for you Journey Fans! My wife and I have watched this over and over, we were sceptical about buying this DVD because we thought without Steve Perry how good could this DVD be. Well let me tell you, if your a true Journey fan you'll love this DVD, Steve Augeri is incredible on vocals and Deen Castronovo is awesome on the drums and of course the founding members (Neal Schon, Ross Valory, and Johathan Cain) are better than ever. If you appreciate great music you won't be disappointed with this DVD.
Rating: Summary: Journey to hell Review: Journey- Steve Perry= a joke. Somebody should sue for false advertising. I'm a huge Journey fan and would not go see this Journey cover band if they were playing in my basement. Shame on all of these greedy people who used to play in Journey.
