Summary: A Classic Performance
Review: About a year or so ago I was happy to find out Collective Soul was going to be involved in "Music in High Places" A show that promotes music in environments outside of the normal. This one hour show is one of the best hours of music ever caught on tape. Collective Soul proves they are a force to be reckoned with. Do yourself a favor, get this DVD RIGHT NOW!!! Just a quick note, Music in High Places showcases bands performing with Acoustic Instruments in exotic locales. You will not be hearing their hits in the way you are accustomed to hearing them. I enjoy these versions even more due to the creativity involved.

Review: Collective Soul's fans from the heavier more electric emphasis of their last few albums may be dissapointed at how mellow this disc is... but the band has ALWAYS had an emphasis on pure harmony. They've ALWAYS been mellow under the volume.The sound of just the five guys and their instruments, without the trappings of a studio, suits them. The travelogue aspects of the disc are pretty good as well--the guys are clearly enjoying themselves--but the heart of the disc is the music. Ed Roland's strong voice doesn't need electric to shine, and songs which they chose to include are only helped by the clean, clear sound of acoustic. The photography and quality of the sound are excellent. When I saw it on a shelf at a local store I thought the idea of a travel-music series ("in high places" only) was a bit gimicky, but now I'm thinking about buying the rest of the series.

Summary: Must have if you appreciate "unplugged" or are a C/S fan
Review: Collective Soul, with their hard rocking electric guitar combo, is a perfect candidate to be unplugged in this Music in High Places video, which appears to be a new and improved MTV Unplugged programming format. Acoustic performances are spectacular while up close footage and documentary style program of band's trip to Morrocco aquaints the viewer with band members just enough. This is a must-have for Collective Soul fans, and watching it made me an even bigger fan as I now appreciate the original electric recordings even more after seeing this. Added bonus is that you can bypass the "documentary" altogether and just watch the music, one track after the next.

Summary: Collective Soul Fans Rejoice
Review: For all those who have been following Collective Soul since Hints/Allegations or who have just learned about this phenomenal southern rock band from their latest popular hits; Collective Soul in Morocco is totally worth watching. This video shows a side of the band that many have never seen. I've seen Collective Soul live around 4 times now and this video was like watching them for the first time. With its narration through Morocco by the band itself, the video shows the little heard personality of this Georgian quintet. The DVD shows great acoustic performances put together out of sheer whim considering this band is generally associated with it's heavy plugged-in sound. I'd defiantly suggest this to anyone that enjoys the band's music. By the way it also lets you listen to all the songs separately as a special feature without interruption.

Summary: Acoustic goodness...
Review: I am a fan of Collective Soul and I had the good fortune to catch this show on MTV. I usually have it tuned there as just background noise when I'm doing something at home. But then this came on and I was transfixed. The bands' acoustic performance is top-notch. The location videography is absolutely pristine and hauntingly beautiful. The camera-work on location with them playing thier more reflective songs is just mesmerizing. You also get to see the band mugging and hamming for the camera. Nice to see them comment about their experience there.
After watching this you just feel good. Maybe just a little better about this world we live in. Especially now.
If you are a fan then this DVD is a must have. No doubt. If you are not but love acoustic performances, I'm sure this won't disappoint.

Summary: A Heavy Band Recording Not So Heavy
Review: I was disappointed with this DVD. I admit that I purchased it without listening to it first, but I expected to hear classic heavy Collective Soul. Instead, this recording is an "unplugged" acoustic set. To me, the song "Heavy" was meant to be played as the title describes it, and it is just not the same played acoustically. While the songs are done well acousically, I would much have preferred hearing the songs done as they were originally recorded.

Summary: simply awesome
Review: i've been a CS fan for years and absolutely love this DVD. The video and sound quality are excellent. They are an extremely talented, intelligent, and down to earth band (was lucky to meet them backstage at their recent show in LA). Will (bass) and Dean (rhythm guitar) told me they were approached by Music in High Places and were allowed to pick any place in the world, and they chose Morocco as a backdrop because of the scenic beauty and history. Both said it was an incredible experience. I have seen the Goo Goo Dolls and The Calling's Music in High Places DVD's which are both also very well made, but Collective Soul blows them away with the acoustic versions of their songs. I still can't believe that they didn't rehearse and took only a few takes. Ed Roland is one of the best songwriters and frontmen around today(see them live and you'll see how good he is) and his talent is apparent on this DVD. I play guitar so it was invaluable to me for learning to play some of their songs. They perform their big hits and a few gems that sound great played unplugged. Interviews with the band members and the location featurette are very interesting and showed their willingness to adapt to their surroundings.

Childress does play some amazing licks on his Taylor cutaway on this DVD. I am hoping they will release a concert DVD of their recent tour.
Buy this DVD if you like their music ,want to learn or already play the acoustic guitar, or just want to escape from your reality for a couple of hours! You will not be disappointed by the band's musical talent, or the sound and video quality.

Summary: Awesome DVD!
Review: I've been a fan of Collective Soul since 1995 and have been used to their heavy riffs. This acoustic set demonstrates just how talented Ed Roland and the guys truly are. Forget about those wimpy girl-ish boy bands or those pop music $$$-making pretenders (e.g., jessica simpson, britney spears, justin timberlake, etc. , etc.) you've been over-exposed to. Let's return to some "real" rock music. I recommend this DVD to all those who are just wishing they can play the acoustic guitar, are fans of Collective Soul, or those who appreciate excellent music. This DVD will inspire you to want to play the acoustic guitar and those Taylor guitars are worth every penny!

Summary: Discovering Collective Soul
Review: If you have not seen Collective Soul in concert (which you must do before you pass from this earth), and are only slightly familiar with their music, buy this DVD! Collective Soul is unplugged and at their best! The photography and sound are excellent. This is truly a revealing piece on the tremendous talent of Ed Roland, a fantastic performer and one of the premier singer/songwriter/guitarists of this generation! Enjoy!
