Rating: Summary: one of the best dvd concert Review: Finally, a DVD of Nine Inch Nails has been released ! This double live DVD features more than 15 songs filmed during the Fragile 2.0 tour in North America. All the sound has been re-sampled & optimized for this DVD (5.1). You'll be surprised by the high quality of the sound and the powerful sound level you'll get from your rear speakers. The show is totally underground and industrial. The songs are a selection of Trent Reznor hits (closer, head like a hole...) and from its last CD "the fragile". This DVD is a must ! This is definitely one of the best live performance in DVD !
Rating: Summary: Another Masterpeice! THANKS NIN! Review: Don't hesitate, buy it! You wont be dissapointed. They spared no expense in quality. I recomend the dts because of the better sound, but you will need the decoder. How ever in the dolby5.1 version you can use the multiple camera angle view in real-time and the dts you have to select the different angle straight from the main menu and can't switch back during playback. This is due to the lack of compromise in quality. There are about 100+ still photos on the second disk and some hidden fun as well. Even if you only kinda like NIN, buy it. It was such a great show and they captured that live energy and put it on DVD. I get riled up every time I see it. On a side note. If you were at the gorge in George WA, there is some great live footage as well as some stills. And on the dts one of the songs was shot entirly at the gorge. VERY COOL! I can see myself from here.
Rating: Summary: Not what I was expecting, what a disappointment .... Review: I was looking foreward to some of the interviews they played on MTV as a preview to the release of this DVD, but they didn't seem to make it here, also the promotional videos from the album 'The Fragile' would have also been very nice, they were omited was well. To me that was a real dissapointment!! Another thing, and this is a major complaint -- this is a two DVD set with the cabiliblty of having 4 hours of material. Between the two dvd's there's only about 2 hours total of material including the comentary.Although the concert footage was so good that it does make it a must have for hard core fans like myself. The picture quality was near perfect and the audio was loud and clear in a 5.1 digital mix. There's also 4 songs that the camera angle can be changed for different viewing. Save some money and get 'Closure' by NIN on video.NIN lowers the bar on DVD releases, what a scam!!
Rating: Summary: Nine Inch Nails just keeps giving! Review: I have been a NIN fan now for almost 9 years and have never been able to go to one of their concerts. This is a great DVD, or should I say 2 great DVDs! Just finished the first DVD and have not even got to the second one and can say that this DVD is worth every cent. As the previous reviewer stated, it feels like your really there with the crowd. Also there are the extra features like extra angles, there are not as many as I though there were going to be but still it's a nice feature. The DVD is nicely laid out too, with options to help setup your speakers, and to help you adjust your TVs gamma (brightness). And for those of you who only like the new stuff or really like the older stuff, there's a mix of everything from broken to the Fragile. Any NIN fan with a DVD player WILL own this as a must have!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: WHAT A FANTASTIC SET. GREAT SONG SELECTIONS, BUT I WISH THAT THE DAY THE WORLD WENT AWAY WAS INCLUDED. EXTRAS ARE SLIGHTLY GENERIC AND I CAN'T SEE WHY IT IS ON TWO DISCS(EXTRAS ARE MULTIPLE ANGLES OF 3 SONGS, A LOT OF STILL PICTURES, AND AUDIO COMMENTARY FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE VIDEOS THAT ARE SHOWN PROJECTED BEHIND THE BAND FOR 3 SONGS). ALL OF IT COULD HAVE FIT ON ONE DISC. IT IS AN ENERGETIC AND ECLECTIC SET THAT REALLY MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE THERE. THE DVD INSERT SAYS THAT THIS WAS ASSEMBLED BY THE BAND FROM VIDEOS SHOT AT DIFFERENT CONCERTS , BUT THE CREDITS OF THE DISC LIST A DIRECTOR. IF TRENT REALLY PUT THIS ALL TOGETHER, IT IS TRULY A COMPLETE VISION BY AN ARTIST OF HIS WORK IN TOTAL. KUDOS!
Rating: Summary: a must have for any NIN fan! Review: I thought it was great! the only problem being that I was at the minneapolis show and i noticed that it left out the opening song which was played behind the curtains where you could only see their silhouettes. I thought that was one of coolest things and to not include the best part of the show was a little dissappointing. but overall it totally recreated the experience of being at the actual show especially with the dolby digital and DTS that it comes in!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good capturing of a NIN concert Review: I've seen Nine Inch Nails before, but it's been awhile. I think the song selection on here is great, and the presentation is very good, but I was disappointed with the extras (or lack thereof) on a relatively expensive DVD. I hoped to have some kind of documentary or behind-the-stage short about Trent and the band but there really wasn't much in the extra department (a few different camera angles to try out and one brief commentary by the art designer for the tour). Again- the concert is very good, with lots of different camera angles and excitement going on, and the band playing really tight and intense. I'd recommend it, but I was hoping for a more complete package in all honesty (I also bought the CD on the same day and figured the DVD would have much more, but it really doesn't).
Rating: Summary: Good...but! Review: I must first preface this review by saying that I have only watched this DVD once and have not had the time to scour every possible crevice in which any fancy easter eggs may be found. That being said I feel that while the contents of the DVD itself are wonderful, and while this is a excellent representation of the concert experience(at least as far as a video can take you) I feel as though there could have been more things for the hardcore fans, or even the casual ones. If I had the choice I would have rated it 4.5 stars but alas it was not an option so I had to go with 4 as opposed to 5 due to the slight disappointment mentioned above. In terms of the overall quality of the production I do not have a vocabulary worthy of the praise I would like to sing. The visuals are very clear: only once or twice did I disagree with the choice of the camera angle. The audio has been meticulously crafted to piss off your neighbors, maybe even ones down the street, and that is just the stereo edit as I don't quite have my 5.1 set up yet. Overall a must for any NIN fan, even if you didn't like the Fragile, which I would find obscene if you did. And don't think because you own Closure that you have the concert thing licked because that is nothing compared to the "La Mer, Great Below, and The Mark Has Been Made" montage in the middle of the performance. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Best Concert DVD I've ever seen. Review: I was partially dreading this release after the horrid Closure VHS set. On THAT package, the sound was audience recording bootleg quality. This, however, is PERFECT. The sound quality is impeccable. The show is amazing. And the video is unmatched. I've never seen a concert video which truly captured the essence of what it was like to be at a concert before. This one did it. My only gripe is that it's two discs, and there's no reason at all for it to be two discs. The whole thing could have fit onto one. But with a show this great, I can't really complain too loudly.
Rating: Summary: A disappointment considering the price Review: After months of anticipation, the Nine Inch Nails DVD set is finally released. I was looking forward to this set so much, that I pre-ordered it, and picked it up at my local record store anyways, leaving me with a copy now and one soon to arrive. So what do I think of it? Well, I think it's a nice little set, but unless you're an obsessive fan, you'll probably be at least a little disappointed with the overall product considering its price. One of the features I love about DVDs is the ability to include supplemental materials. For the first DVD endeavor by NIN, and knowing Trent's personality and artistic attitude, this set is seriously lacking in this area. Commentary by the man who created the video sequences used for the displays at the concerts explains his logic behind them, and the user has the ability to press the Angle button during three songs to get different perspectives. That's it. Oh, and a neat little clear plastic bookmark-like thing comes with the set, with a note from trent. The packaging is like that of Fight Club or Moulin Rouge, a basic slipcase made of cardboard. The color scheme and art on it is very basic and boring. I think Trent's taking this minimalistic style a little too far. There's a difference between setting a mood and copping out. Evidently the set was created and mastered using software and computers they happened to have. and it shows. Now, I love NIN, or at least I used to until I got burned out on their music because they're so slow to release anything (or until all the hot topic kiddies bothering me when they saw a NIN patch or shirt annoyed me), but this set failed to excite me and despite owning pretty much every Halo, I regret having purchased it. The video itself could have been a lot cleaner. Trent says the shows were filmed using home video cameras, and once again, the film quality shows. Much of the time bandmembers are very difficult to see and the cameras are way too far into the audience. The set played includes the following songs: Terrible Lie, Sin, March of the Pigs, Piggy, The Frail, The Wretched, Gave Up, La Mer, The Great Below, The Mark has Been Made, Wish, Complication, Suck, Closer, Head Like a Hole, Just Like you Imagined, StarF**ckers Inc. and Hurt. Perhaps this is a case of a product not meeting my expectations due to them building up so long, but I was expecting at least some backstage footage or insight into the tour, like the Closure video set gave us. I saw NIN during the Fragility tour this DVD set is of and I felt it rocked. This DVD set does not. ...Try to keep an objective perspective and decide whether your hard earned money is really worth what I've described.
