Summary: All secrets revealed in this review..
Review: The following review is for those whom want more than just a live concert of 2 discs. This review is to reveal to all the world, or just all the readers whom rather own this DVD, or plan on getting it, the precise way to gain access to the "easter egg" SECRET EXTRAS menu, whom don't know how to already.

Select the song "Head Like a Hole" on disc 2, at the "11:20" mark, hit the number "7", then, press "Enter." You will then be treated to a SECRET "Easter Egg" and or "Hidden Extras" menu. The menu contains all that I now shall mention below.

1.) A live performance of "Reptile"
2.) The one and only RARE unreleased and scrapped music video for "The Day The World Went Away"
3.) NineTyNine commercial
4.) A promotional commercial for the album "The Fragile"
5.) A promotional commercial for the album "Things Falling Apart"
6.) Marilyn Manson & Nine Inch Nails doing "Starf**kers Inc." live.
7.) Marilyn Manson & Nine Inch Nails doing "The Beautiful People" live.

Thats not all...this ones small but i'll include it anyway.

On disc 1, select the song "Gave Up." At around the "26:58" mark, press "Enter"
You will then get a wide shot of the stage, for the song.

These extras were an accidental discovery by me, but I promise, all of them work. Try them out, and enjoy.

Side note-Get the compilation album "Still" by Nine Inch Nails rather with the Deluxe version of the "And all that could have been" CD or from nin.com. "Still" is just simply beautiful, that's the only way to put it. 5 new songs, plus some Acoustic versions of some of Nine Inch Nails songs. "Something I can Never Have (Still)" and "And All That Could Have Been" are the 2 most beautiful songs on it, but who am I kidding, Still is a PERFECT side CD.

Summary: Easter Egg Info
Review: I don't know if anyone else posted this, but here is a way to go to a secret menu where you can find three really nifty commericals for the Fragile and Things Falling Apart, the little seen video for the Day the World Went Away, NIN playing "Beautiful People"with Manson and a live take off "Reptile":
Go to disc two and select "Head Like a HOle"
During the first bridge, where Reznor is singing "No you can't take this away from me", on the third time, press the seven button three times and it will take you to the secret menu.
So there ya go. Hope I was able to help you out a little bit there.

Summary: It doesn't get any better, folks.
Review: To any other bands out there thinking about doing a live DVD - please give Trent your data and let him mix it.

I've always been a huge NiN fan, but the quality of this DVD is just superb. Video's great, audio's great, and if you're lucky enough to have a full 5.1 setup, you're in for a treat...This is what live DVDs should be about. Listening, at home, to your favorite bands play live while feeling like you're at the show.

If you're a NiN fan who's never seen them play live(wtf?!) get this to see what you're missing. If you're a fan like me who just can't get enough, well, you already have this.

if nothing else - where else can you see an industrial group use a thermin?

Summary: one of the best Live DVD's... ever
Review: truly one of the best live dvd i have ever seen. trent and the band perform their best songs excellently, the only downpoint is that they don't perform ''heresy'' or ''down in it'' :(

and another reviewer stated that trent didn't smash keyboards on this dvd, well, uhm, he does. at least twice!

trent's on stage antics are hilarious. smashing his mic stand into keyboards, doing a strange thing with robin's face, throwing around 100's of bottles of evian...

Summary: Amazing Live Performance
Review: I'm relatively new to the world of NIN, and this was only the third NIN item I picked up, right after the Closure VHS set and the CD Things Falling Apart. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a band like NIN doing a live performance, but it turned out to be one of the most awesome spectacles I have ever seen. The shows are so full of energy, passion, intensity and rawness. I can only imagine what it would be like to attend an actual live performance. I recommend this DVD to everyone I know. It is definately worth it.

Summary: Disregard all reviwers who whine about this DVD...
Review: I read a review from someone complaining about this DVD as being the worst ever...coming from someone who is a self proclaimed "critic" who has rated multiple DVDs while I am willing to bet that this person has never or has no knowledge of how to actually author a DVD, which I do. Also, other people complain about the lack of extra features such as backstage footage and the 2 disc split into the intro of another song (Suck). When I read these reviews I think of only one thing...the comic book guy from The Simpsons ("Worst Episode Ever!"). Time for a review from an objective source; rebuttal time...

Everyone complaining about the fact that a professional company wasn't hired to record a show obviously has never seen the live videos for Hurt, Eraser, and Wish from the Self Destruct tour (buy the Closure VHS and watch Tape 2 to see what I mean). The videos have sweeping camera shots for god sakes, like you're Superman or something! People who like this must have a thing for 80s "hair metal" (Bon Jovi, Whitesnake). Doing the videos this way means you get only one chance to record a show, regardless of mistakes or screw-ups and very little editing room. Therein lies the advantage of recording multiple shows on MiniDV format; you get multiple angles from inside the crowd, giving you the feeling of being there, you get multiple shows and multiple takes (the only downfall is the obvious change in Robin Finck's hair, but I think it's actually neat to see all his different looks) to work with and piece together. It also doesn't hurt that it's cheaper and Reznor gets total creative control as opposed to waiting for a crappy cut from the pros. The fact that Reznor did this by using the exact same software (Final Cut Pro) that I use at school for my Video Post Production class is commendable. I see little evidence of grainy quality (one reviwer compared it to the Blair Witch Project, which is absurd) only in the Wish and Closer videos, and even if they were bad in the first place, the good far outweighs the bad in terms of quality and quantity.

By the way, the first disc does not end into Suck, but stops right before it while Trent goes into his scream...disc 1 ends at the climax of his scream! I don't care how close you listen to the first disc; you absolutely do not hear the opening synth from Suck until you pop in disc 2, therefore Suck does not officially start until three seconds into disc 2. They picked a great stopping place, I think, because Complication is kind of a cool-down after the intense performance of Wish. Suck is such a great change of pace from Complication that it makes the most sense to put the transition between those two songs. If people are whining because you have to get off your butt to change to disc 2, well, I think some afternoon jogging sessions are in order. If we fit everything on one DVD, the compression quality would be much less, meaning subpar audio and video quality as well as potentially being limited to only 5.1 OR DTS, rather than an option of both.

In regards to a lack of videos or backstage content, I think those people are missing the point. This isn't an episode of MTV All Access Week or anything like that, but the closest replication of being there (without actually being there) to watch the show (as the little plastic insert states inside the case...learn to read folks!). I do not care to see backstage footage, for I could really give a damn what Reznor and company do backstage; buy Closure if you want to see their antics. I think the DVD becomes something more "commercial" or "safe" or "standard" if backstage footage is included, and those are words not synonymous with Nine Inch Nails.

My summation is that the bad reviews are from casual NIN listeners who claim to own every CD but ultimately know only three songs (probably Head Like A Hole, Perfect Drug, and Closer) and have never heard or heard of tracks like Memorabilia or Dead Souls. Trust me when I say this DVD is worth every penny, if not more. Reznor did an excellent job by personally handling the DVD authoring and the DVD should not be changed in any way. This DVD is not trying to be everyone's friend and all things to the world; it is aimed at us true fans of Nine Inch Nails. Do not read any further, order this now!

Summary: Halo 17
Review: I was originally going to get Closure, but someone told me I should get this first, and they were correct. It's one of the most amazing concerts I have ever seen, and the audio is excellent. When I accidentally stumbled upon the hidden content, I was the most impressed I have ever been with Trent Reznor. On top of all of that, the case and the discs themselves are beautiful. Halo 17 is truly amazing and worth every penny and then some.

Summary: blowing
Review: This DVD sets record how good performances can be. It is hard to find this blend of intensity, heaviness put into music, live along with contrasting quiteness and multiply it by excellent visual and sound quality. There is slideshow of pictures from concert included, too - every one is perfect, balanced picture, one you could hang on the wall and be proud you have it. And they say it was made with handycams! It is interesting to see Trent Reznor delivering quality all around. What one used to expect from more matured forms of the art, he is delivering in this genre, that one day such groups as KISS had destiny to be in. Dramatic improvement in standards. Thanks, Trent - you make this place so much better! Must to see/have item.
