Summary: C'Mon¿It's Slayer
Review: Slayer almost never disappoints. Why should this instance be any different? Slayer has the capability to make the hair on the back of your neck standup by their mere name being spoken. Put the disc in your DVD player and "Disciple" jumps right down your throat along with the menu. There isn't a ton of extras included but the few that are there are worthwhile. The concert itself is as bombastic and brutal as one would expect. All of the classics are presented well here. There is even a track from "Diabolus" that I initially was unimpressed with but "Stain Of Mind" has grown on me considerably since hearing here again. My favorite block is the Postmortem/Raining Blood/Hell Awaits block. You simply cannot go wrong with any Slayer song that starts out slow and ends up fast as hell and "Postmortem" is Slayer rolling out that formula at it's finest. "Raining Blood" and "Hell Awaits" are easily two of the best metal songs ever written so it's no surprise that that block is my favorite.

The "Bloodline" video is nothing unusual for Slayer. it's a clip of them playing and the sequences bouch from them playing regular to them in business suits to them covered in blood. I suppose the reason it was banned from MTV was due to the little girl and the priest which tells me that while that may be the surface reason, the real reason was that the video would get little to no play there anyhow but that seemed like a worthy enough excuse to officially ban the video, meanwhile rappers with ho's that sing about drugs and guns are played non-stop.

Personally, the "Fans Rule" section is my favorite. it's a 50-minute documentary of Slayer's extremely dedicated fans. I wish that the interviewer would have sought out some more intelligent Slayer fans; as the documentary makes Slayer fans look like complete trailer trash, but on the upside, it makes for a good laugh. My only complaint is the inclusion of Kirk Hammet. Does anyone really care what his opinion is at this point? He has nothing to do with metal at this point and it's pretty well known that Slayer and Metallica aren't exactly on the best of terms. Anyhow...

"War At Warfield" is one of those live DVD's that has you wishing that you had been there. It's Slayer in top form: intense, heavy, aggressive and most importantly true to their words. With Slayer, what you see is what you get. There is nothing remotely image-consciuos when it comes to the violent brand of speed metal that Slayer dishes out and they keep people coming back because of it. They are the best for that reason and more.

Summary: Slayer: War At The Warfield, Dec 7. 2001
Review: Finally it's here. After months of delays the DVD of Slayer's December 7, 2001 show at the Warfield Auditorium is here!! Slayer fans rejoice!
The concert itself kicks serious ... Included among the 19 tracks are 5 songs from GOD HATES US ALL, plus obligatory classics such as ANGEL OF DEATH, HELL AWAITS, DIE BY THE SWORD & DEAD SKIN MASK. Unfortunately none of these killer cuts are here: AT DAWN THEY SLEEP, WAR ZONE, POINT, LOVE TO HATE & SERENITY IN MURDER. The sound quality is excellent & the concert is just as good as, maybe even better than the one filmed for the LIVE INTRUSION video. The entire band are playing at their peak here, delivering track after track of head banging, fist pumping, brain shredding thrash packed to the gills with energy, aggression and undisputed attitude. Pure Slaytanic adrenalin.
Unfortunately there's also a 50 minute doco called FANS RULE, which focuses on some of the wacko fans Slayer have. One of them is a drunken fool who looks like John C. McGinley's mutant twin brother- its fun to laugh at these idiots: but not the bearded hippie freak who sacrificed a dog (Because Jim Carrey told him to!!). I used to be an SPCA volunteer & if I ever met this guy I'd whup his sorry [self]. One of the fans is a hot blonde (FEMALE of course!), but a lot of them are seriously disturbed. One sad case is quoted as saying "If you don't listen to Slayer, you should just DIE!" while another gimp plays Slayer's SEX, MURDER, ART in his head whenever he's beating up one of his classmates. Which would cause Dubya to ask "Is our children learning?" while Al Gore would just blame Slayer for everything from 9/11 to to the hole in the ozone .
Really, it would just be nice if some of the more NORMAL Slayer fans were represented; just to balance it out a bit. That's my only complaint about this DVD which is a must have for any fan. Another part I found amusing is the Kirk Hammett interview where he says Slayer "are heavy, fast & aggressive"... unlike Metallica nowadays! Maybe Kirk should rejoin Exodus- it's only Jaymz & Lars The Tin Can Drummer Boy holding him back. (Pa-ra-pa-pum-pum!)
Extras are the BLOODLINE vid, which features a shot of a cute little kitty drinking "blood" & anti-religious imagery that will appal some & the disturbing sight of the band decked out in business suits. An excellent DVD- apart from the fans doco. Check it out.

Review: Being a metal fan of over 20 years, I had to get this. And I was not disappointed. The band's energy, especially that from Tom Araya and Jeff Hanneman, was awesome and has not waned with the years. Despite what some reviewers have said, they don't just stand and play, they ROCK!!! And that is what is expected when listening and seeing Slayer.

The only negative I would say about this DVD is the vocals on "Seasons in the Abyss", about the only song that Tom Araya needs to sing and not scream (at least not all the way through). That and about half of the Fans Rule extra. I liked hearing what other metal musicians (e.g., Kirk Hammett) had to say about Slayer, and some of the fans do sound intelligent. But, you can tell some of them are either way too screwed up to be on the DVD and maybe will show up on a Jerry Springer episode.

As one of the fans says, Slayer is all about the First Amendment, and I will add, what rock music is all about; anti-establishment and music that is emotionally charged to the maximum. I'm glad they released this DVD and it shows that they haven't lost a thing. Great job.

Summary: No Dave Lombardo, Araya's voice is horrible on this!
Review: If you guys have any Reign In Blood/South of Heaven-era video, please release that instead. This was highly disappointing.

Review: Slayer defines my teen angst! When I think back to walking down the halls of high school with my headphones on, Tom Araya is the icon of those years. This DVD is simply brilliant. The concert footage captures a Slayer performance to a "T". The Fans Rule Documentary (produced by a childhood friend of mine) is a killer added bonus. Buy this DVD, turn up the volume, and enjoy!

Review: Welll i just recently purchased this DVD. If youire a slayer fan, you'll like it. If your not, watching this aint gonna change your opinion.

I am not a big slayer fan and even less after watching this DVD.

The truth is these guys sound great on the records but they dont come off as well on stage. They just stand and play like idiots

I wish this DVD came without the fansrule section. Its awful.Even Tom and Jeff speak total [nonsense]......they really need to grow up......the F word is like used so often, you can tell its deliberate. Like theyre using the word just to impress their "extremely immature" audience.

Review: This is an awesome DVD. It's got a great set list. Still nothing comes close to actually seeing Slayer live but this is relatively close. The interviews with the fans are really funny. Those people are just a little to obsessed. It was also funny seeing Kirk Hammett on there.
