Review: This film, shot in Texas in June of 1995, features a whole host of talented musicians. The littany of names is enthralling. Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Vaughan, Robert Cray and Eric Clapton, who was nominated for best male rock performance in 1997 at the Grammys for his performance. Each musician performs his own incredible piece and the film also includes each performer's reflections on Stevie and all culminating to an incredible blues guitar jam with each musician having a solo. Filled with beautiful slides, riffs and solos and heartfelt thoughts each artist pays tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan in his own way. A befitting tribute to a once in a life time bluesman.

Summary: A must-see for all Stevie Ray fans
Review: This gathering of rock/blues all-stars is incredible! Starting with Bonnie Raitt and ending with an all-star jam session, this show is over way too soon. How many times in a blues fan's life will we see B.B.King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray performing live on the same stage? Brother Jimmie's leadership and organization resulted in a very special event. One of my favorite moments is watching Eric Clapton's smile go Grand Canyon-wide as Buddy Guy jams late in the gig. These folks were having some fun! Stevie Ray must have been having fun, too.

Summary: Almost great
Review: Well the list of guitarists is something to be expected considering they are paying homage to one of the greatest guitar players of all time. However it seems that his brother Jimmie in this DVD uses this as an opportunity to play with the greats. Instead of allowing the great guitarists play their hearts out they seem to be in the background of a sub par guitarist. The first thing I thought when I saw this was Stevie would have been furious seeing these great guitarists playing behind his brother. These people needed to be showcased instead of dropped in the background. Once you get used to this the interviews are really nice hearing these great blues players talk about Stevie. There playing was really cool, it is definitely something to watch and enjoy, and the last song SRV Shuffle on the DVD is really fun to watch. It would have been better if Jimmie had got out of the way though. Would have been a five star if he would have just let the better musicians play in the spotlight instead of trying to steal the spotlight.

Summary: It just doesn't cut it, pity.
Review: When I checked the line up I didn't really give buying this disc much thought. But after Jimmies try hard performance, performing in the light of his far more talented brother, I was more than a little disappointed. Jimmie just cant play, and the others seemed to be held back as though they weren't really into it. Given the event, I found this surprising. You would think a performance in Stevie's memory would inspire greater performances but I have seen them all perform well above what they do here. For all that, it is still rare to see performers like this all in one place, paying tribute to a genuinely brilliant talent who is so sadly missed. If you want to remember the man, then this isn't the best way to go.

Summary: Why not get the real thing?
Review: With the possible exception of Buddy Guy, SRV played with more intensity than any of these guys. In his interview Clapton says that, after he heard SRV he (Clapton) was embarrassed to go on stage. And rightly so. Buddy Guy & Bonnie Raitt are terrific; B.B. King is B.B. King. Robert Cray continues to underwhelm and Jimmy Vaughan does his best. Eric continues to be a crowd pleaser but how far he has fallen from All Your Lovin' or Layla or White Room or Crossroads or....

Review: Yes, there is a geat sound and a big list of performer artists. BUT there is a lote of dialogue befor any songs, that make this DVD goot to one time earing.
