Rating: Summary: Finally! Review: After 10 years of watching a beat up VHS version of this show, there is finally a DVD of this memorable concert! (My VHS copy must have been played several hundred times over the past decade.) In terms of concert films, the original photography for this concert was shot with 35 mm film, making the video quality superior to those rock shows shot with today's cheap digi-cams. True, there is no 16:9 anamorphic feature, but there are many far-worse concert DVDs recorded in the last 5 years with pixilation problems and digital artifacts that make this 12 year old concert truly shine in comparison. Who knew that the extra money spent back then on photography would be worth something all these years later? My only complaint with this DVD would is the 5.1 sound mix. (I haven't had a chance to listen to the stereo track yet.) Quite often, the guitar and bass sound, while crisp and superior to the VHS version, are mixed quite low compared to the vocals and the drums on this DVD. A noticable example of this is in the chorus of "Hear That Sound," while the VHS version booms the bass and low frequencies here, the DVD sound is higher and less exhilirating, concentrating on Kirk's acoustic guitar instead. At any rate, as someone who considered purchasing a laserdisc or PAL player just to view Live Baby Live in a better-than-VHS format, I am overjoyed at finally being able to watch this in a superior medium. In some cases, it is actually possible to discern Hutchene's mumbeled banter between songs. The sights and sounds uncovered and magnified on this DVD are truly incredible for anyone who has ever appreciated INXS in a live context. From Jon Fariss's count in to Michael Hutchene's facial expressions, this DVD is truly a treasure.
Rating: Summary: How do you spell Class? INXS!!!! Review: As on their new 2 DVD greatest hits set....INXS does it right....the original concert film remastered with great picture and sound...AND they throw in tons of extra content rather than just the show....commentary, old featurettes , and a new retrospective ....great stuff that make this a true keepsake and not just a concert document....it was a landmark show for them , they got it right, captured it and share it with us and I for one appreciate the extra effort to make this package such a thorough delight!
Rating: Summary: BEST BAND LIVE! Review: By all means a must in your collection. The group's ability to integrate the adrenalin of almost a 100,000 people, with the purity of their music is outstanding. I totally agree with the other reviewers about the DVD edition. When will it come out? The DVD edition will be a masterpiece...just like the performance. May Michael Hutchence live!
Rating: Summary: THIS DVD IS WHAT YOU NEED!!!!! Review: Finally, we get an INXS DVD!!!!! Now what we need is a compilation with every promotional video clip INXS made on one DVD, remastered in 5.1 surround sound just like this excellent concert reissue!!!!! Only flaw about this package is not including a remastered copy of the original LIVE BABY LIVE album, because both would have been perfect as a CD/DVD combo package, but it doesn't matter...this DVD gets 5 stars all the way!!!!! (This DVD also makes me wish that U2 would remix and reissue the ZOO TV: LIVE FROM SYDNEY and POPMART: LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY concert videos in 5.1 surround sound on DVD!!!!!)
Rating: Summary: Totally agree! Review: For anyone that is a fan, this is an absolute must have. Probably one of the best concert videos yet! How do we demand it again, especially in DVD?
Rating: Summary: exelent Review: I am not a big fan of INXS but I think this concert is a must, you need to have it! I've been looking for this video everywhere. I am glad I found it here.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: I had heard of INXS, but never got into them until my wife made me sit down and watch this. I was amazed. It is probably the best live performance I have ever witnessed. I have must have watched it 20 times. After Hutchence, every other performer comes up short - very short. I'm 52 - used to have a R&R band in the '70s. I'm now playing they're songs. RO
Rating: Summary: 2 COPIES ARE NOT ENOUGH!!! Review: I have 2 copies of this wonderful performance. Both have different editing and camera angles. If your an INXS fan then you will love this, Michael Hutchence's stage presence is mesmerising and few others can compete. The band has a quality that few appreciate and this live performance really showcases their musical talents. It's a shame that this won't be brought out on DVD as it's too easy to wear out the VHS!
Rating: Summary: Horrible sound and editing Review: I have to admit, I have never seen the VHS version of this album. My review is based on the CD. I understand it is the same (except with video) but I could be wrong. The sound quality and editing on the CD are horrible. The album was taken from several stops along the world tour. The editing is very jumpy and abrupt between songs. The sound quality is very poor on most of the tracks, where you have trouble either hearing the vocals or the instruments. But there are a few tracks with acceptable quality. The performance on most of the songs just mimics what is on the studio versions. On some songs, there is even less energy than on the studio versions. But there are a few times where the bad really does open up and those instances are fantastic (but poor sounding). Too bad there aren't a lot more of them. Someone gave this 5 stars, because he was there. What kind of way is that to rate a tape? Another person gave this high marks because of the energy of the audience. Another person really liked that the audience was singing along with most of the songs. What do you want to hear? 100,000 drunk teenagers or INXS?
Rating: Summary: I'M NOT A FAN OF A BAND - BUT THIS ... Review: I won't be using a lot of space to make sentences look good, but as a fan of a good live show, all I can say is ... Michael was one of the best performers I've ever seen. He can easily be next to the legendary performers like Freddie Mercury, Bono, Mick Jagger, Dave Gahan ...
