Summary: Hungry Like the Wolf
Review: This is a great DVD from a great band. The boys from Ireland dole out such classics as Hungry Like the Wolf and Girls on Film. Go along on these classic video shoots and see what happened behind the scenes...because I'm glad I did.

Summary: Depeche Mode at it's best!
Review: This is the greatest musical documentary of all time. Being a fan for two decades now, no other performance can top 101. Though the concert was not shown to it's whole entirety, let's face it, if digital recording is available at those times, we will not crave for more. For me, this movie has shown Depeche Mode at their best and how cool the 80's era is. A must have to all music collectors of different music genres.

Summary: Glad it's down on DVD, but terribly edited.
Review: This was a landmark concert for Depeche Mode. If I had been at this show myself, I might have fallen to my knees out of sheer delight! However, the original show had at least 20 songs and was originally put onto 2 CDs (see the 2-CD box "101"). The concert on the DVD (disc #2) has 11, and barely lasts an hour. Where's the rest of the show?

The original mood of the opening (Pimpf) of the show is broken by inserting "Master and Servant" out of sequence. And what's this? Have some of the songs been shortened? 'Everything Counts' for instance, starts with a fade-in (come on, there's no way it was performed like that at the show). It just looks like they fought desperately to cram it on the disc, at any cost.

After watching some horribly disappointing parts of the concert (on the 2nd DVD), I didn't even bother with the "film" on DVD #1... To me, "101" means the concert, the event. It should have been the focus of this 2-DVD set, not as what seems like an afterthought, or a "special feature" on the second disc. If they butchered the show like that, you can keep disc #1, and I don't care much about disc #2 either, for that matter.

Hopefully, with DM's 25th anniversary coming up, they'll listen to the critics and die-hard fans and re-release this concert in all the original glory it deserves.

Summary: Depeche Mode The Real World Style
Review: Well not exactly this was release before the Real World started on MTV . This is a great documentary style film on the "Music for the Masses" tour. The film starts with a contest for lucky fans of the group Depeche Mode to win a ride along with the group. This called for a ground breaking Ideal in the music industry, to shoot a film about what happens. This is far more interesting and entertaining then most documentaries that are released and the great thing is actually feeling like being in the journey. This film ends up at the rose bowl performance and give a little detail what happens behind the curtain at a concert of every caliber. Excellent and post modern ideal coming from 1988 (and was released in 1989).

Summary: THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!
Review: What is wrong with some of you people? 101 is a great movie. It has everything you can possible want: drama, comedy, and kick-ass music. 101 is like 4 movies in one--you could watch the whole thing from beginning to end, watch the band hanging out, watch the fans on the bus, or you could just sit back and listen the classic tumes. The fans were stupid but you couldn't keep your eyes off of them. It was like a car wreck then and still is now. I do agree that the band kind of lost its way after Alan Wilder left but this movie is a time capsle. It shows the band at a crossroads--between underground cult group and the mainstream success they acheived on the release on the Violator album. Do see it now!!!

Summary: great movie on DVD
Review: When I first heard they were going to release 101 on dvd it brought memories when my friend and I would watch the movie over and over again because we were big DM fans. Well the movie is still great on DVD and the sound is excellent compared to how it was on VHS. The extras are great especially the interviews with the band and with some of the kids in the movie. Overall, if you are a DM fan this is a must buy for you.
