Rating: Summary: The Farewell Tour. Review: Tina Turner is the female singer that has sold more tickets in music history with her strong voice and her wild dancing. In 2000 she announced that her "24/7" was her farewell tour so she went out on tour for a whole year. This DVD was taken at Wembley Stadium (England) where Tina simply rocked the place. The show starts with her 70's hit "I wanna take you higher" a song that she didn't sing during her 80's and 90's tours as some other hits like "A fool in love" and "Acid queen". In my opinion she did this show fantastically adding those songs and the covers that she added like Marvin Gaye's "I heard it through the grapevine" where you can see fantastic artworks like the stage opening and burning, and Ottis Redding's covers "Try a little tenderness" and "Sittin' on the dock of the bay". "Addicted to love" is also here as in all her concerts and of course her hits like "River deep-mountain high", "Private dancer", "When the heartache is over", "Whatever you need", Proud Mary", "Nutbush", "Better be good to me", "What's love?" and "We don't need another hero". One of the best performances is "Let's stay together" where she sings delightfully and I can't miss "The best" where you find the show's climax. Even though the selection of songs was very good I feel that some hits were missing like "Typical male", "Two people" or "I don't wanna fight". On this show you won't find "Steamy windows" but one the secong leg of the American Tour she changed "I heard it through the grapevine" for "Steamy windows". About Tina's whole performance I can say that it's fantastic she simply performed as a tiger on stage and about the quality of the DVD I can tell you that it's very good, the images are clear and the takes are very good. Don't forget that Emmy award winner David Mallet directed this show. With the special features you can behind the scenes and you can select the sound. If you like this video you may also like Tina's "Simply the best-The video collection" or "Do you want some action?-Live in Barcelona 1990". You can also find "Rio 88" which was a good show at the Maracana Stadium in front of 182,000 people but the image is dark.
Rating: Summary: Simply The Best for One Last Time!!!! Review: Tina Turner is the greatest singer around. She sings hit after hit from her entire carrer. Shot at Wembley Stadium in 2000, on 18 cameras, Directed By David Mallet, Tina & her 9 piece band rock the house in this two hour concert. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Do I love you? My oh my! Review: Tina's swan song was this "Twenty Four - Seven Millennium Tour 2000." This may well be the greatest concert video ever - bar none. My first memory of her was as a kid, with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue at Carnegie Hall (of all places). I have never seen a woman like that before or since. This concert has hits going back that far - from the classic "River Deep, Mountain High" to "Simply the Best". There was a reason that Haines chose her legs to show off their wares. Never been another set like them. The Wembley Stadium crown was positively frenetic - somehow, it seemed that she was always more appreciated in Europe than home. Tina's performances were always highest energy. Great background vocals and musicians. Like closing a baseball career with a game winning walk off home run, Tina Turner's last performance is truly an event never to be forgotten.
Rating: Summary: Great Show But...... Review: We would have given this DVD 5 stars or more if it were available in 6-Channel DTS (just like her Wildest Dreams and Celebrate Concerts). Sound is also available in DTS mode (in addition to Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Stereo) but it was only 2-channel. 6-Channel DTS encoding consumes a lot of disk space so perhaps the producer had no choice but to avoid it in order to accomodate the special features (at least for now). As it is, the concert is still awesome, full of energy, full of effects and very entertaining indeed. I would definitely recommend it to anybody. Tina's energy is truly unbelievable. How could she manage not to drink water in between songs?..or was it edited? We have a good collection of DVD concerts of other great artists which we consider as quite good too. However, right after watching any of Tina's high-energy shows just like this one, those other concerts suddenly seem to be just..."OK". She's really the best!!!! Our favorite is I Heard It Through The Grapevine. That was one hot number!!! Tina's musicians were great (as always). My wife and daughter adore the husky voice of John Miles, but they surely missed that dancing saxophonist (Timmy Capello) in her Wildest Dreams concert. We wouldn't hesitate to spend few more dollars to have the 5 or 6-Channel DTS Version of this concert. Please don't make us wait too long!!!
Rating: Summary: I was actually there, and this is nearly as good! Review: Well, I was actually in the audience for this concert, in fact you see me many times during the DVD. I am just near the green alien at the front.

I was worried how this DVD would compare to my memory of the concert itself, and I have to say that I am very impressed. I find both the sound and picture quality to be very good, and just how I remember them to have actually been.

I like the range of shots, cameras and angles used. It really does show off the famous Wembley stadium, and just how many people were in there. Obviously I was unaware of what was going on behind me, so the mixture of cameras is really interesting.

It is good to see all of the songs included on this version, unlike the VHS, which was a tad disappointing. However, I was a little irritated to find that there were parts cut, even from this version. They have removed the sing along with the audience during 'The Best', which is a shame. Also, some of the costume changes have been sped up a little.

However, it really is hard to find fault with this DVD. Most of the songs that you would want to be there, are. The staging, lighting and setting are all very good. Although the lighting does look a little more gaudy on the DVD than it actually was.

Tina, of course, is amazing. Her voice is strong, consistent and powerful. Her dancing is jaw-dropping, let alone when you think that she was aged 60, and was doing the whole lot in stilettos! Naturally, the legs are awesome, and I got to see them from up close! I have seldom been so dumb-struck as when she ran down the arm of the crane during 'Nutbush', I was directly below her, and could see that she really was very, very high up (and still in high heels!). Her energy never flags, even the quiet songs are sung with full force. She does, however, save the best for last. Proud Mary, with the fireworks and all, is probably the best version that I have ever seen.

I cannot really recommend this DVD highly enough, as a parting shot after 40 years of performing, this is a true triumph. Well done Tina!

Rating: Summary: Simply the Best Review: Well, Tina has done it for one last time! I sadly missed the actual concert tour, but I have the almost perfect VHS to make up for it. This concert took place in such a huge stadium, that it was amazing how Tina's voice overpowered the audience and the band. This is the list of songs she did on the tape. I want to take you higher, Absolutely nothing's changed, Fool in love, Acid queen, River deep Mountain high, We don't need another hero, Better be good to me, Private dancer, Let's stay together, What's love got to do with it, Help, Whatever you need, Try a little tenderness, I heard it through the grapevine, Addicted to love, Simply the best, Proud mary and Nutbush city limits The sound and picture are as clear as if you were there in person. Tina and her band performed some songs faster than in the studio versions. These songs were Simply the best, Better be good to me and Nutbush. I liked the audience's approval and Tina's enthusiasm while ruling the stage for one last time. There wasn't a boring song in the programme. Unfortunately, the DVD version has Xtra songs. The songs were edited from the VHS for no apparent reason. The editing is perfect though, because between songs, we don't wait long. Tina comes out for almost every song without a break! It shows Tina saved her best for last, and that she was a ball of pure energy on that stage. The VHS is formatted for widescreen, just to let you know. A truly fantastic live concert and a memorable experience for any Tina Turner fan. I think this is the actual show that PBS took for their tv version a few months back, but nothing compared to this! After 4 decades of success, Tina Turner deserves to be titled "Simply the best"! A must have for everyone. Get it while it's hot. This review refers to the (VHS EDITION) Did this review help you?
