Rating: Summary: WHERE IS THE REST? Review: Great DVD, but the one I have only takes you to track (video) #9. The rest is blank???, but I'll still give it 3 stars for the videos that I got.
Rating: Summary: I love the pumpkins... Review: And this is perfect for those who love them as well. All the best music videos right here! Look at it and enjoy. Highly suggest it to people who loved the pumpkins and hate D'arcy who broke them up...
Rating: Summary: Unfortunately the disc I got is faulty. Review: Like another review I read here on Amazon, the copy I bought is defective. 30 dollars and it doesn't even play... That's pretty important to me.
Rating: Summary: A great Smashing Pumpkins compilation Review: I just got this DVD yesterday, and I have to say, I was blown away. Not only some of the greatest music of my favorite band ever, but also wonderful music videos. I had already seen "today" on MTV awhile back, but these are the kind of videos you just wanna watch again and again. Maybe it's the music, the attention to detail, the cool ideas, I don't know. They all just blend seamlessly into a great DVD. Here are my favorites-Disarm- It was already my favorite song, but the music video is good too. I ussually end up watching this one over and over. The bells are great. But, I can't figure out what the baby is about. Can anybody tell me? Today- Ice-cream! Again, one of my favorite songs and now one of my favorite videos. Billy's voice is very clear and pretty in this song. Tonight, Tonight- Based on an old silent film. Seems to feature some of the artwork from Melloncollie and the Infinite Sadness. A very beautiful song. Ava Adore- Inspired by Nosferatu, this song features Billy, D'Arcy, and James as vampires. A very surreal atmosphere. Unsettling but pretty describes it well. Other highlights of mine are "Perfect", "Try Try Try" (very sad), "The Everlasting Gaze", "Stand Inside Your Love", "Rocket", "Geek U.S.A.", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings",and "Thirty Three". A very solid DVD with a few extras like a short film called "Try" that's based on the song "Try Try Try". Plus, as mentioned many times before, the songs come with at least 4 different options: Video or Outtakes Music or Commentary plus some songs have different options, like 1979 has "lost tapes". It's very customizable, meaning hours of fun. Oh yeah. The only downside (not a very big downside, but some people might be bothered by it) is that you can't watch one song. If you hit a song you wanna hear, it plays that one and then moves onto the next one. But you can always hit "menu" and go back. Like I said, not a very big downside, but some people might not like it. Overall: Nostalgic, Beautiful, Tearjerker for some. Buy it, even if you don't like the Smashing Pumpkins. I guarantee you won't be dissappointed.
Rating: Summary: THE VIDEO'S EXPLAIN IT ALL. Review: I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH THIS DVD MEAN'S TO ME. THE WAY THE VIDEO'S ARE PLACED IS ALMOST LIKE A PUMPKIN'S TIME LINE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN A MTV KIND OF GUY, SO TO GET ALMOST ALL THEIR VIDEO'S ON ONE DISC IS AWESOME. I DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD VIDEO'S FOR GISH UNTIL I SAW THIS DVD. EVEN IF YOUR NOT MUCH INTO PUMPKIN'S IT'S STILL VERY GOOD. THE SONGS ARE GREAT(AND YOU KNOW THIS) BUT THE IDEA'S THE BAND HAD FOR VIDEO'S PROVES HOW UNFORGETTABLE THE PUMPKIN'S ARE.
Rating: Summary: Revel in a dying art form perfected by a dying band. Review: Music videos were dead by the year 2000. You know... every video is essentially the same, and only 30-40 seconds of it will be played on MTV or VH1 in the midst of some "top ten list" or other. This DVD is amazing because it hearkens back to a time when videos were still an art form, a form of expression rather than a loss leader advertisement for the sales of an album. This DVD is supremely enjoyable. I saw all of these videos on MTV "back in the day" and since then I've owned every Pumpkins CD. There's no way I expected to be brought to tears by seeing the video for "Tonight, Tonight" again... but I was. By the time I had seen the videos for Rocket, Rhinocerous, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Zero, Thirty-Three, Stand Inside Your Love... I felt as though I had rediscovered scripture or the rosetta stone or something. Completely uenxpectedly, this is the best purchase I've made in the last 24-36 months. I had forgotten just how much these videos meant to me... and just how much each of these videos augments the tune with which it's paired. Buy it and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Hidden "Untitled" Video ? Review: Pumpkins rock, this dvd rocks. Nobody has yet to mention the hidden video for "Untitled" ( the last song recorded by SP and released to Chicago radio stations on the eve of their last concert at the metro. ) It is mostly a video of them recording it in the studio and has some clips of that snowy November in Chicago. Well for those who have the DVD and havent found it yet......If you notice on the main menu the options are highlighted....well navigate to the left w/ your remote ( you will see no selections highlighted, kind of like you went off the screen to the left....and then hit enter on your remote and you will see the hidden video for "Untitled" Rock On!!
Rating: Summary: ...Great history DVD... Review: One of the best compilations from a band I've ever seen... I think the only video they did not include was the one from the Batman & Robin movie "Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning", not so bad song but not missed...
