Rating: Summary: A Must-Have for the Moody Blues Fan - No Question Review: This one is a must-have for the Moodies' fan. Set outdoors with the orchestra, this video captures the essence of the band at its best as well as audience appreciation. Set list is typical, execution is excellent. Video work is great and editing is unobtrusive. There's a reason these guys have been at it over 30 years, and it shows full well in this video. You'll watch again and again - I know I have!
Rating: Summary: Okay but "Canyon" not good for sound Review: This was an "OK" concert; BUT out in the Red Rock canyon; the sound is displaced. The orchestra sound was just fine; but the Moody Blues themselves were "not great" to put it mildly. I AM A HUGE MOODY BLUES FAN; BUT THIS DVD IS NOT THE ONE YOU WANT.
Rating: Summary: Don't throw away your laserdisc!! Review: this was an epic show....filmed and recorded well and i was delighted to see it appear on DVD....unitl I watched it. In the close-ups it appeared fine but the more distant shots of the band and orchestra are pixelated and not smooth....I wondered if it was my imagination so I dug out my laserdisc and what a shock..the laserdisc is much better! The laserdisc not only features a higher resolution picture but a better color saturation ....and sound! It is shocking when companies release DVDs which do not improve on previous video or laser releases but even MORE shocking when they are a step back...alas this is the case on this DVD. I would rate it lower if the content were not as strong as it is...and it is 5 star.
Rating: Summary: The Moody Blues are timeless. Review: Through their vast repitoir the Moody Blues have found a way to give us a sample of their talent from Knights in White Satin to I Know You're Out There Somewhere. They really rock in I'm Just a Singer in a Rock'n'Roll Bank, The Other Side of Life and Say It With Love. Justin Hayward is such a brilliant lyricist..his words mean as much today as when they were first written. I've watched this DVD many times and it's always like the first. I'm watching it now. Gotta get this one!
Rating: Summary: Loves the Moody Blues Review: We have owned video material from the M/B for quite some time and having passed through the generations of publicly ownable video content, from VHS (and S-VHS), through LaserDisc, and finally DVD, I have to give the DVD version of this remarkable concert the highest marks. Probably our favorite performance of the disc is "For My Lady", a heartfelt piece that noticably connects with the audience (watch the immediate standing ovation afterwards). Get it and enjoy. You'll won't regret it. As to the individual that told us about his system in another review...Who Cares! When you have a $65K projection system and $72K worth of surround sound equipment, then brag. ps. that is not what I have, maybe someday...
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: What can I say? Moodies at their best. Seen them twice in concert and I love this video.
