Summary: This is a DVD, add more of the Songs!!!
Review: Not enough of them. "Legend of a mind" and "Emilys Song" would have been perfect adds to the DVD. To see Ray Thomas on the DVD strutting his stuff on Timothy Leary would have been a perfect touch. In concert he is fantastic and to deprive us of that wonderful experience is truly a shame.

Summary: A great concert...if only the sound quality weren't lacking.
Review: Owning this concert on DVD seemed like a promising prospect, as Moody Blues fans have only been treated to two previous DVDs (Legend of a Band and Hall of Fame). While there is no questioning the overall significance of this concert, or its importance to fans of the group, the weak sound quality on this DVD leaves much to be desired.

Others have mentioned "pixelated" shots of the orchestra and sometimes grainy long-distance views. Compared to the weak audio track, the occasional visual imperfections are nothing to worry about. The audio on this DVD sounds as though it was lifted straight from the VHS master of the concert, with no remastering or special treatment. In terms of sound quality, there is no improvement over previous versions of this concert (CD, VHS, etc.).

In terms of content, however, this concert is definitely first rate. Included on this disc are a variety of hits, from "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon" (of "Days of Future Passed" fame) to the group's 1980s chart-toppers, such as "Gemini Dream" and "Your Wildest Dreams." When you take 17 classic Moody Blues songs, add an orchestra and a beautiful setting (The Red Rocks Ampitheater), you wind up with an excellent DVD.

Despite the slightly lacking sound quality, this DVD is worth purchasing, especially for those who have yet to see the Red Rocks performance.

Summary: The best Oldies group around
Review: Possibly the best concert video I've ever seen.

We videotaped it back in '93 when it first came on, bought the CD when it became available, and bought a canned VHS tape later on.

The DVD is spectacular, especially if you are one who runs your DVD/VHS output to a stereo system. Oddly for a group that's famous for "soft rock," this concert should be listened to LOUD.

Most interesting item: the rearranged, much more rockin', "Lovely to See You."

Summary: A classic video from one of the all-time GREAT bands!
Review: The beauty and serenity of the Red Rocks Amphitheater only enhanced the unique sound of one of rock-and-roll's greatest bands ever! After recently seeing "the fellas" in concert yet again, I had to get this video! Grace, beauty, and majesty abound in a truly classic performance! Enjoy!

Summary: Ladies and Gentleman....The Hayward/Lodge Band
Review: The Moodies at Red Rocks is not that great of a show. It really isn't. The boys, particularly Hayward, are not in perfect voice and the setlist is mostly Hayward and Lodge tunes. Ray Thomas' wonderful voice is audible on 'For My lady' (fitting since it is his song), but other than that, Ray could have set his tamborine down and left the building and nobody would have noticed. I can't see once, NOT ONCE, where Lodge or Hayward even glance his way and recognize him as someone sharing the stage. And what's the deal with 2 drummers? If Edge can't handle the job, then get lost! Sorry, but I have been a musician for nearly 35 years and there is no need for 2 drummers anywhere! Then there are are 2 keyboardist...The big haired dude and some other guy. The haired one seems quite capable...so why the other one? The Moodies were one of my all time favorite bands. They were the epitome of what was called 'Art Rock'....Rock n Roll taken to its highest level. Then Mike left, and they had no choice but to sell out and go 'POP'. A band can't lose someone as integral as Mike Pinder and possibly continue with greatness. And they haven't. Sad.

Summary: Longer track list, but not a patch on Albert Hall DVD
Review: The whole point of music DVD is to enjoy excellent sound and secondly, great picture quality. I expect surround sound with a music DVD, yet this Moody Blues doesn't deliver this. It only comes with 2.0 stereo. This is disappointing because producers can do tricks and create 5.1 remixes these days, even to the oldest 2 channel soundtracks. Purists may say "urgh" to this, but I really don't care.

While this DVD boasts a great long tracklist, I strongly urge fans to purchase the far superior "Moody Blues - Live at Royal Albert Hall". It was filmed in 2000, and features a totally beautiful DTS surround sound! On top of that, the image is almost crystal clear. Even with its shorter tracklist, it is a much wiser purchase - one which you will return to time and time again to watch! It will also give you what music DVD is supposed to give you - otherwise you may as well hang on to your old HI-FI music videos and live back in the 80's and 90's!

Summary: An excellent live Moody Blues concert
Review: This is an excellent recording of a live Moody Blues concert. I was at the concert that was recorded and the video accurately captures the excitement of the night. It contains all of their classic favorites with outstanding camerawork. There are close-ups of all the members of the band and occasional audience shots showing their complete involvement. The music is similar to the original recordings (no new arrangements). If you are a Moody Blues fan, this is an must-buy.

Summary: Awful
Review: This is one of the worst music DVDs I have heard. The orchestra is overkill and drowns out most of the vocals. The audio quality is terrible and to make things worse, these guys can't sing anymore. I was disappointed at not being able to hear my favorite songs performed as they once were. It's time for this group to retire...

Summary: The Best Band In Rock History
Review: This is truly their best video and always will be. A must to get. Some of my favorite songs are Your Wildest Dreams, For My Lady, and The Other Side Of Life. New Horizons is good too. The scenery is beutiful. A very well done Video
