Summary: The best concert DVD ever!
Review: This has to be my favorite concert DVD I own,and I own quite a few.KISS are my favorite band.Anybody who has been to one of their concerts knows they put on an explosive show. This is the best example of this. This DVD is divided into 3 acts.Act One is KISS onstage in full makeup performing 6 classics.Act Two features KISS onstage with acoustics performing 5 acoustic songs with the Melbourne Symphony Ensemble. This was the first time Peter had sang "Beth" with a full string section.Until now,he had just sang it with a tape.Act Three is KISS onstage with the full symphony performing ten more classics, mostly from "Destroyer".Highlights include "Love Gun","Rock And Roll All Nite",and "God Of Thunder".The main highlight is "I Was Made For Lovin' You".I used to hate this song, but now I love it,because the awesome Tommy Thayer makes this into a hard rock song instead of disco.I can't tell a difference between him and Ace Frehley.Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons look great and sound great for guys almost fifty.Disc One features a documentary about how this was made, and, for some odd reason,Act Three from Disc Two.(...)
The bonus features on this DVD are an interview and performance of "Sure Know Something" from the Australian talk show "Rove!Live",and some interactive weblinks.

Summary: ORGASMIC! A TOUR DE FORCE SHOW DONE RIGHT!!!
Review: I know what many of you may be thinking: mainly, how cheesy the concept of KISS and a world class symphony orchestra collaborating would be. BUT, you would be WRONG... VERY WRONG! This is one of the BEST 'rock meets Beethoven' productions I have EVER seen, and Kiss' structured, even bombastic, and often ballady music is the PERFECT candidate for a mega collaboration like this with a full-piece orchestra! This 'down under' performance is nothing short of world class, sonically and visually, and the DVD production is top notch, with a perfect mix of great camera angles, shots, and stereo and multi-channel audio, not to mention a few extras. The energy and party-atmosphere of the Aussie crowd is captured ably and perfectly on this 2 disc DVD set. I am 42 years old, and have been following Kiss since the mid 70's, and it absolutely floors me as to how these 50-something, aging rock stars look and sound as if they are still in their 20's!!! Not all classic bands are aging gracefully, but KISS is one of the major exceptions hands down. Another note: Tommy Thayer is one fantastic guitarist! He is about the same height as Ace, looks like Ace, moves like Ace, PLAYS like Ace (back when Ace had incredible chops), smells like Ace, etc. His riffing and soloing is dead on. Simply amazing, to say the least! Given how influential and incredible KISS is, and given their contributions over the years to hard rock, it is almost fitting that they 'upped the ante' and attempted to make KISSTORY with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra! Two worlds colliding have formed a masterpiece! What are you waiting for? This DVD should be in your collection A.S.A.P. 100 stars, not 5!!!

Summary: They blew it!!!
Review: The music on this DVD is really good, but the video is nearly impossible to watch due to the horrible editing job that cant keep a shot of ANYTHING on the screen for more than what seems like two seconds.

I am going to put my copy on EBAY and get the CD instead.

Summary: Well done....
Review: This, simply, is a great show. There's a good breadth of material covering the 3 decades worth of material from the group's massive catalog. Unlike that rip-off 'Live in Las Vegas', this one definitely delivers. The behind-the-scenes look at the making of the KISS Symphony is also interesting and gives some insights into the humor of the band.

All in all, if you missed the last tour, this video is a must-have.. The only other DVD I could recommend to KISS fans is Unplugged, if you can find it...

Summary: Let Down!!
Review: This dvd was a big let down, but I should have know better. Being a KISS fan since 1976 they have always seemed to come up a little short of fully delivering the goods. I deducted one star for the sound which is not DTS (no center channel) and lack of good bass, deducted the other star for the horrid editing which so many have already talked about. I don't need to see all those shots of the fans. Would have liked to see more of the band and stage as a whole to get a real feel for the concert. You really don't have time to enjoy momment before it cuts a away to something else. KISS if you listening, PLEASE redo this DVD with better editing and True DTS sound.
