Rating: Summary: Cant go wrong here! Review: 2 DVDS full of videos from the best underground metal there is... plus I heard a second one is coming out... very nice...
Rating: Summary: Overkill? Review: i got this DVD because it features a lot of my favorite bands (Borgir, Bodom, Hypocrisy, Emperor, etc) and on one hand i was very satisfied with this and on the other hand i was very dissapointed. the satisfying aspects are that i havent seen a lot of these videos in DVD quality. and the DVD helped me get into bands i hadnt heard of before (Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Strapping Young Lad, Darkane, etc). but one thing that bothered me is that a lot of these videos arent the bands most recent video. the Dimmu Borgir video is i think the newest video on there, even tho In Flames, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, and im sure a bunch of others have come out with newer videos before the Borgir one was ever released (im sure this is just so they can have a number 2 sooner than later, but dissapointing all the same). also the sound seems odd to me. i had to watch it on my computer, sounded fine. but on my TV it sounded like my speakers were going to explode, even with the volume very low the audio seemed too loud and scratchy and overdriven. and a lot, A LOT of the vidoes on here AREN'T worth watching. id say theres maybe 8 videos on here i watch. the rest just seem like they threw them on there so they could say they have this big huge 50 video extravaganza. i couldnt sit and watch this DVD over and over again, so for the money i think i kinda got ripped off. i watched it once, skipping a BUNCH of videos, and ive played a couple vidoes for friends here and there, but thats it. its not even about low budget, its just that a lot of the bands on there SUCK. even tho i have immense respect for metal, some of it is very, VERY laughable (watch the Kataklysm live video and watch the lead singer's fist-pumping be entirely off beat. also his lame arm movements are worth a good laugh as well). i think my favorite part of the video is the Hypocrisy live clip of Fire In The Sky. but if you like these bands, just look carefully at the contents before buying it, and have fun. PS: it also REALLY irritates me how they edit down songs for videos. the amount of music that they cut out of the Dimmu Borgir song is disgusting. i thought at least a DVD i payed 30 bucks for they'd have the full versions.
Rating: Summary: value for money Review: I highly reccomend this DVD. It is a compilation of almost several video clips of Heavy Metal bands. Being a Nuclear Blast release, most of thevideos on this DVD are Nuclear Blast signings. But Markus Staiger has managed to get his hands on some real gems that you would certainly never see on regular TV, such as "No Love Lost" by Carcass or "I for an Eye" by Entombed (the latter is awesome). Almost all the videos are low-budget productions and therefore look quite funny (especially Rhapsody's "Power of the Dragonflame" with two would-be metalheads and a Star Wars toy) but that is the whole point of the DVD: It shows that Metal bands don't need expensive videos to make up for crappy songs. In conclusion: This DVD is worth the money. It has a lot of videos on it, that can save any metal party and meanwhile it provides some swesome songs
Rating: Summary: Awesome DVD Review: I think this is one of the best DVD's I have ever purchased!! I absolutely love Dimmu Borgir! They are now my new favorite band since I have watched this DVD! If you are a die hard metal fan! I recomend you to get this movie!!!
Rating: Summary: Pretty cool collection, but BEWARE! Review: It is very important for you to understand that the Lacuna Coil video for "Heaven's A Lie" included here is NOT the most recent one but an earlier version which just shows them goofing off in the studio. In fact, I believe it's the same video that acts as the bonus video track on "Comalies". I purchased this set for basically two videos, and that was one of them...or rather, the "proper", newer version of "Heaven's A Lie" was one of them. Big Bummer. The other one was Dimmu's "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse", and that one still looks fantastic. That's one superb video! It's also good to see Carcass, Cathedral, and Morbid Angel present, giving it some serious variety. Many of the "videos" are actually live performances that are not listed as such: Dimmu Borgir's "Puritania" (live show with studio track overdubbed), "Leaves" by The Gathering, and Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills" to name a few. The vast majority of the bands on here are completely unknown to me, and for the most part did not win me over to their music. One band, THERION, really stuck out, though, with their video for "Summernight City". The video was strange and unique, and the song was very bizarre yet very original with some authentic operatic female vocals over the heavy music. Speaking of operatic vocals, the once great Theatre of Tragedy is represented here by the song "Let You Down", which actually WAS a letdown. It's a borderline dance song which sees them dropping their metal influences entirely for a sound akin to--say--Ace of Base. At any rate, it isn't metal and I'm not sure why it's included. Also in the "should've packed it in years ago" department is Paradise Lost from their "let's copy Metallica by cutting our hair and writing pop crap" phase with "Say Just Words". Another sad loss for the metal world. With the selection here it'll be hard to find something you don't like, but I don't recommend buying it if you like less than 10 of the videos, because there is probably little here that will convert you to the other bands if you don't already like them.
Rating: Summary: ...And Metal for all Review: Just as expected!!! You got a taste of every metal style you could find. I'm not a black/death big fan but the more u explore, the more u feel drained by the melody-brutality. If it only had some interviews, mmmm, maybe for the volume 2.

Rating: Summary: THE BEST METAL COLLECTION OUT THERE!!!!!!!! Review: This collection is the best it gets....and I own maybe 15 metal compilation videos like this.....I mean between the two dvds there are 50 songs, so anyone into metal can find something they like.....The Dimmu video that opens the DVD will blow you away, the CRADLE OF FILTH video is absoulutely amazing in the mood it creates (and I disliked the cradle before watching this tape)...and finally the Video for In flames Trigger made much more sense when you watch the Soilwork video (another of my favorites); there is some classic stuff with Morbid Angel's Immortal Rites and then some IRON MAIDEN, and the newer classics like the Emperor video (before black metal bands could get big video budget). THere were a few disappointments, like the "fun in the studio" video by Lacuna coil (but you have to check out the Swamped video by them on the Century Media website), The Gathering "leaves" video is acutally live so i don't know why it wasn't placed in the live section, The Theatre of Tragedy entry was a disappointment in comparison to their other work, and, well, some of the power metal videos are a little high on the Cheese scale for me.......IN CONCLUSION: IF YOU ARE A METAL FAN, YOU MUST OWN THIS DVD!!!!
Rating: Summary: MUST BUY for METAL FAN Review: This DVD is the bomb, all the best band in Europe from death, gothic, dark, doom, trash, symphonic, and power metal on one doubled DVD. I've been metal fan for years, but this is the best collection. I am dying to wait for the 2nd one to come out. Buyer beware: DON'T LISTEN TO FEEDBACK OR REVIEW FROM GUYS FROM AMERICA. US METAL IS DYING OUT, IT'S ALL POP-CULTURE NOW WITH BRITNEY SPEARS AND PUNK ROCK. THAT'S THE REASON WHY MANY AMERICAN FANS HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY OF THESE BAND, OR LIKE THEIR MUSIC. I LIVE IN THE US, BUT I HAVE TO BUY CDS OVER THE WEB 'CUZ NO AMERICA MUSIC STORE SELL THESE GREAT CDS.
Rating: Summary: The best metal compilation DVD ever! Review: This first volume in the Monsters of Metal collection is better than the second in many ways. Maybe the extras aren't as fancy, but that's about it. It features some great videos, new and old, from some of today's top metal bands. True, amny of the bands featured are Nuclear Blast signings, given that this 2-disc set was produced by that label, but there still is plenty of diversity in the choice of artists. It has everything on it from modern pop metal Sevendust to extreme death metal like Sinister, and just about every style in between. Industrial, goth metal, melodic death, power metal, prog metal, grind, thrash...it's all there. Also, the artists are from all over the globe. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, England, Holland, Italy, Austria, US, Canada...it's all here.
Some videos really stand out above them all, and it is obvious that some are indeed classics. Some of the classics from this include: Morbid Angel's 1989 video for "Eternal Rites," Carcass' 1993 video for "No Love Lost," Pungent Stench's 1993 video for "Viva Las Muertes," among others.
My top 5 favorite videos from disc 1 (no order) are:
1. Sonata Arctica "Wolf and Raven"
2. Dimmu Borgir "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
3. Helloween "Just A Little Sign"
4. Stratovarius "Eagleheart"
5. Cradle of Filth "Her Ghost In The Fog"
My top 5 favorite videos from disc 2 (no order) are:
1. Thunderstone "Virus"
2. Rhapsody "Power of The Dragonflame"
3. Carcass "No Love Lost"
4. Mnemic "Ghost"
5. Gathering "Leaves"
Ultimately, I'd highly recommend it to any fan of metal DVD comps, this is the top of the game.
