Summary: Great performance of one of rocks best bands!
Review: Freddie and the gang give a great performance of their greatest hits. The sounds is great but the picture is on the grainy side. Nevertheless, a great DVD to have for all Queen fans.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Good show, poor quality DVD
Review: Really honks you off when they resurrect these old shows and try to make them current. Audio is redubbed which sounds decent but the video portion is very weak. I wouldn't have bought this one if I had seen it beforehand.

Summary: Terrible DVD Presentation
Review: Do not buy this DVD. It is very grainy with terrible sound quality. I love Queen and Freddy is great in concert -- but this does not do justice to Queen or the DVD format. END

Summary: The Best Queen visual performance so far
Review: The earlier you go back in Queens history. Generally the better they were. This concert from 1981 featured a set list superior to Live At The Bowl and Live At Wembley and performed better, Roger still sang Im In Love With My Car even 5 years after they added it to the set. Unlike both Lives there was no additional musicians on this concert (onstage anyway) even though they were occasionally cropping up at concerts beggining in December 1979 when Queen first included Crazy Little Thing Called Love in thier set, additionally Freddie Mercuries bisexual lifestyle and smoking were in thier infancy (these would compromise Freddies showmanship, voice and gradually weaken his health by august 1986 and therefore force Queen to permanantly stop touring).

Summary: Excellent live final performance from Queen as quartet
Review: Queen made their first live concert film We Will Rock You in November of 1981.
The film was the band's first live concert movie and was their eighth attempt of filming the band's live show as they had recorded shows at The Rainbow Theater in London in late 1974, the classic Hammersmith Odeon shows Christmas Eve 1975, Hyde Park in London in September of 1976, Earl's Court in London in June of 1977 and The Houston Summit in Houston Texas in December of 1977 then Japan and Paris in 1979. Apparently, only one has been officially released which was the Rainbow on VHS in late 1992 in the UK.
We Will Rock You was filmed at the end of the band's 1980/81 world tour in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the Canadian audiences were way more reserved than the European audiences.
Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that Queen were a superior live band to studio.
This film starts off with a rocked up version of We Will Rock You. Other highlights of this film include Let Me Entertain You, Play the Game, Somebody to Love, Now I'm Here/Dragon Attack medley, first ever performance of Under Pressure, Keep Yourself Alive with a jam at intro and solos from Roger and Brian on tympani and guitar respectively, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, Sheer Heart Attack and the closing We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions medley.
This film is so far the only concert film of the band without an extra musician which they added on the Hot Space tour in 1982.
This film is highly recommended!

Summary: Killer!
Review: Most people write these reviews with opinions dominating the scene. I try to keep it factual for a bit and give the reader something tangible to make a decision about the product. That crap being said, THIS ROCKS!! :)
Okay, so this was filmed in the early 80's (1980 or 1981) before the release of the Hot Space album. It was filmed in Ontario, Canada in front of about 15,000-25,000 people. It's about 80 minutes long and has only one disc. Not too many special features to talk about here.
The lighting on this tour was genius. Guitarist Brain May once callled it the "pizza oven" lights. They follow the mood of the songs almost perfectly. The show starts with a fast rendition of "We Will Rock You." Then they wind it down a bit. I have to agree with some people when they say Freddie played the piano more on this tour then the 1986 Magic Tour (Also very much worth checking out.) But, people have to realize the tours to follow were PACKED. It's kind of difficult to get 70,000 people to feel like they're virtually part of the show when the frontman is sitting at a piano.
Now, there are some high points and some not-so-high points. My favorite song has to be "Somebody to Love." What an amazing, beautiful piece of work. Freddie is just stunning. Also worth mentioning is the fact that they FINALLY let drummer Roger Taylor sing his kick ass song "I'm in Love with My Car"! 'Bout time! Some not so great points are "Get Down, Make Love" (not so powerful, very studio-like) and the fast version of "We Will Rock You."
The worst feeling of this DVD is the lack of audience participation. Anyone who knows Queen knows they get their audience to sing the songs with them (ie: "Love of My Life"). Here, they don't really sing along too much. Maybe just a lack of truly knowing the songs, I don't know. Still, Queen itself are at the top of their game.
So, now you should have enough info! One more side note: This is just one of many DVD's you can buy from Queen. Now, they're coming out with another concert! Remember, they are a band with many moods. This concert is more of an intimate mood (if that's possible to say when they're singing to thousands), so if you don't like this one, don't stop looking! Try Wembley, or Live at the Bowl. But, I think you will be happy with this one!

Summary: wow, tough room here...
Review: I'm suprised at the amount of criticism this DVD has been getting here. Yes, I admit the crowd is anemic at best, and yes there are "better" Queen concerts yet to be released (hurry up already! LOL)...but truthfully, I prefer this over Live at Wembley. It's an occasionally bumpy ride, but the RAW POWER of this performance overrides it all. For example, songs like "Tie Your Mother Down" and "Now I'm Here" fly out of the gates at an amped-up pace, where I thought the Wembley versions showed more polish & restraint. It's also a plus seeing Freddie handling all the keyboard duties (except for part of "Save Me", courtesy of Brian), which he doesn't do on Wembley...and speaking of keyboards, there's no candy-floss synths sprinkled about in this show, unlike the Wembley performance. It's Queen, warts and all, and it's a raw & honest kick-ass show. If only the audience had even half of the intensity of Wembley's, who knows what heights the band coulda reached here. Finally, if you've already seen this, BUT it was the previously issued version, you owe it to yourself to check out this upgraded release...better sound & MUCH better picture, which gives the performance better justice than before.

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: I thought the sound engineering of this DVD was the worst I ever heard. I tried both DTS and Dolby 5.1, both were totally under-whelming. The separation is poor, even the frequency response is poor. I have cassette tapes that sound better. This is not what I buy music on DVD for. I am very happy with the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, etc. But Queen totally disappointed me.

The THX introduction sound bite was impressive, the DVD was not. Too bad, it seemed like a nice concert, and a good performance by the talent. Bad sound engineering.
